61. Carter's book is a best sellet
Persian CAT   (01.14.07)
The resignation of a few Zionists and the fact that someone has to come from CANAD and claim the title was "offensive" to the South Africans as one of his stupid reasons to oppose Carter shows the American people are overwhelmingly supporting this great man. Let's be clear there is no controversy about the fact that Israeli policies in the occupied territories ARE apartheid and this is not a new phonomenon. These policies were made more than 20 years ago when Israel and South Aftica had excellent relations during aparthied.
62. How can he be credible with such a big Saudi Sonsorship of

63. Can't wait for the FINAL CHAPTER
Umm El Kul Naqba   (01.14.07)
I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THE FINAL CHAPTER. It was not long ago that President Ford was given full honors by presidents and dignitaries. As Carter succeeded Ford in the White House and in conjunction with his apparent advanced age, Carter may not be far in behind President Ford in the final journey. Carter will be remembered for his failed policies in conjunction with Russia with regard to Afghanistan, with destroying the hopes of American athletes by boycotting the 1980 Olympics, with his total failure in Iran and the rise of Khomeini which ultimate fed the the greatest threat the world ever faced - Radical Moslem Extremist. Had Carter joined forces back them to quell the rise of Radical Islam we might not be facing the danger today of a nuclear Iran threatening Israel, Europe, and the Middle East. Carter has continued to undermine USA and western efforts in a self-diluding role "as a peacemaker". The fact is that Sadat created the climate for the Israel-Egypt accord and Carter was nothing but a parasite capitalize on the situation. Now we see people in droves quiting the Carter Center, criticizing his highly biased prejuced book, etc. But the final chapter will be written with Carter's passing and the notable absence of major dignitaries. He will receive eulogies fitting for a peanut farmer for other than this he was the worst president American has every had.

65. What a group of zealous idiots!
N Long ,   Hot Springs, USA   (01.14.07)
All you experts, everyone has picked a side based on your personal beleifs, so did Carter. If you would use your own brain you would realize you can find evidence to support either side, because you choose to believe one side over the other doesn't make it true. One thing is generally true everywhere, If you take offense to critisizm, chances are your guilty!

68. Response to T #66 in Texas
Steve ,   USA   (01.14.07)
T, thanks so much for writing and for reading Ynet. I haven't a clue what you are talking about. I don't hate anyone. Maybe you don't like men and women who are confident in what they believe? Maybe you sympathize with Israel's enemies? You mentioned your bible. Have you read it? If you have, then nothing I've written would shock or surprise you. The Bible is my handbook. It's interesting T, you call me an idiot, a fool and a hater, etc., but you've not pointed to anything I wrote that is that is contrary your bible. Let's get specific T, since you mentioned the Bible. Where am I wrong? I will patiently await your response; expectantly.

76. Of failed presidents and homespun moralists
The Pessimistic ,   Optometrist in USA   (01.14.07)
In addition to being one of the least effectual and impotent presidents in history, Carter is also the world's worst judge of character. Why is he such a poor judge of character? because he takes the supposed cause of freedom on face value without probing deeper into the people's motivations or criticizing their methods; because he simplifies and makes deductions without considering the complexities of the historic record; because, in making assumptions about the supposed justification of the palestinian cause, he allows his own moral lens to act as a mirror reflecting back toward his own soul rather than looking into the souls of others, which may or may not claim the same level of morality. Carter's vision of the Israeli-Arabic conflict is truly myopic and doesn't fool anyone who lives in the Middle East, least of all the Israelis or palestinians, who are masters at exploiting influential homespun moralists like Carter. He is not only a "useful idiot;" he is a dangerous one.

78. #73 Farmers
Steve   (01.14.07)
Hey, I am a farmer. Farming is a wonderful profession. It's close to G-d's own heart. Adam was a farmer, a tiller of the ground. But there are good farmers like Adam and bad farmers like Cain. Jimmy Carter is a bad farmer. Like Cain.
79. Steve, you're wasting your time arguing with ignorant people
Alex ,   USA   (01.14.07)
80. Carter an Ignoramus or a Bigot?
Semsem ,   New York, USA   (01.14.07)
Carter is either an ignoramus or a bigoted antisemite. He blasts the Jewish media and American Jews accusing them of double loyalty. He does not even mention the 1 million Jews who were forced to flee from the Arab countries in his book.
81. for ALL the people that supports his book
jason ,   usa   (01.14.07)
ok for starters i'm lazy to list everyones comments so the topic on this comment SHOULD be more simple Many scholars and experts on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict have strongly criticized Jimmy Carter's book, "Palestine Peace Not Apartheid," for its distortions, misrepresentations, and one-sided arguments that blame Israel for the conflict while giving the Palestinians a pass. Yet the book is being celebrated in online white supremacist forums for its anti-Israel, conspiratorial and anti-Semitic propaganda value. Some white supremacists in the United States have embraced the message of Carter's book, pointing to criticism by supporters of Israel as confirmation of their anti-Semitic notions of Jewish power. As a result, various online anti-Semitic forums have hailed Carter's book in diatribes laced with anti-Semitic invective. White supremacists, who already focus much of their hatred on Jews and believe that "Zionists" and Israel control the U.S. government and create the world's problems, welcomed President Carter's book as an affirmation of their warped anti-Semitic conspiracy theories. White supremacist forums such as Stormfront, the longest-running white supremacist Web site on the Internet, Aryan Nations Forum, a Web forum operated by the South Carolina-based Aryan Nations group headed by August Kreis, and Vanguard News Network (VNN), a white supremacist Web site and discussion forum run by neo-Nazi Alex Linder, have included posts praising President Carter for standing up to the "Zionist lobby" and Israel and reaffirming their views on the inherent evil nature of Jews. Many of the messages expressed support for Carter, claiming that any criticism of his book is an attack by "the Zionists." Mark Weber of the Institute for Historical Review, a Holocaust denial organization, listed the book along with the conspiratorial paper on the "Israel Lobby" by professors John Mearsheimer and Stephen Walt as one of the year's crowning achievements, showing the "growing awareness of Jewish-Zionist power."
82. People who support carter's book part 2(more coming in)
jason ,   usa   (01.14.07)
Get the Facts First, Then Distort Them Carter says the Palestinians were forcibly evicted from their homes in 1967. This is also untrue. The Palestinians were caught in the crossfire of a war started by Jordan and moved eastward on their own. Like the most radical Palestinians, Carter implies the creation of Israel itself was a sin. He says the “taking of land had been ordained by the international community” in the UN partition resolution. This is a gross misinterpretation of history, which ignores the fact that the Zionists purchased land from the Arabs and that the UN also called for the establishment of an Arab state. Had the Arabs not rejected compromise and tried to destroy Israel, the Palestinian state Carter favors would now be celebrating its 60th anniversary. Elsewhere in the book, Carter takes UN decisions as the final word on international law (which they are not), but suggests the resolution creating Israel was the one unjust and invalid decision. In fact, by accepting the UN’s partition resolution, they were prepared to accept only about 12% of historic Israel before the Arab states attacked and tried to destroy the nascent state of Israel.
83. people who support carter's book part 3
jason ,   usa   (01.14.07)
For a former president and self-proclaimed Middle East expert, Carter shows remarkable ignorance and naivete when he discusses the Arab world. Without any basis, and ignoring all the evidence to the contrary, Carter says the Arabs will all recognize Israel once it reaches an agreement with the Palestinians. Syria has given no such indication. Hizballah and other Islamic terrorist groups have made clear that Israel’s existence is the provocation rather than its presence in the disputed territories he still spends most of the book blaming Israel for the lack of a comprehensive peace. On page 130, he says he visited Assad in 1990 and that he was willing to negotiate with Israel over the Golan Heights. Elsewhere, Carter talks glowingly about Assad even as he describes the Syrian strongman as viewing himself as a modern Saladin who hoped to expel the Jews from the Middle East as the great Arab warrior had driven out the Crusaders theres A LOT more He doesn’t mention the fact that Yasser Arafat was the only real candidate and that there was no indication from Arafat’s words or deeds that he was interested in reconciliation. On the contrary, he continued to pursue the terrorist agenda for the remainder of his life.
84. Panama Canal

Jimmy Carter gave away the Panama Canal, without approval of Congress. Now it is managed by the Chinese. Jimmy is either stupid, or he is a deep seated communist mole.

Carter also selectively quotes from polls to make the Palestinians look moderate. Readers can judge for themselves from the November 2006 survey by the Center for Opinion Polls and Survey Studies at An-Najah National University, which found that 59.9% of respondents supported armed operations inside Israel; 34.9% rejected them. 65.7% of respondents supported concentrating armed operations within the borders of the 1967 “occupied territories.” 43.2% of respondents said that firing rockets against Israeli targets from the Gaza Strip hurts the Palestinian cause; 34.7% said it serves the Palestinian cause positively. 34.9% of respondents said the form of struggle that best serves the Palestinian cause is the armed struggle. Carter is offended by Israel’s construction of a security barrier and makes no attempt to explain that Israel reluctantly built it only after terrorists had killed more than 850 people. The fence has been very effective in preventing infiltrations that continue to be attempted nearly every day. Carter wants readers to believe, however, it is a capricious means of persecuting Palestinians Furthermore, he does not see Islamism or inter-Arab or inter-Muslim rivalries as obstacles to peace in the region. He is also undoubtedly still bitter over losing reelection in part because Jews voted in record numbers for Ronald Reagan because of their conviction that his policies were harmful to Israel.
