1. EXTREMIST KILLERS IN EXCHANGE FOR MODERATE KILLRES?
DAVID P ,   USA   (01.14.07)
2. Where are the "moderates" Mr Sneh?
Dan ,   Israel   (01.14.07)
The real moderates flee to the West. What is left in the Middle East are those who want to kill off Israel immediately (Iran, Hamas, Hezballah) and those who want to do it step-by step (Syria, Fatah and our own left-wing radicals)
3. NOOOO!
uli   (01.14.07)
4. Free Barghouti? WHY?????
Tracy W   (01.14.07)
It would be best if Israel stopped thinking in terms of playing one gang of murderers against the other. This is not an intelligent way of conducting long term defense strategy. It just doesn't work. Didn't Israel propped up Hamas against Fatah in the past? This policy is unwise and bound to backfire in the near future. All it does is increase the level of savagery in that population. Israel needs to divorce the Arabs as soon as possible and get Jordan to take in the Arab population. Won't be easy but it's the only way to peace and prosperity for everyone.
5. For peace and security release a convicted murderer?
Freejay ,   Israel   (01.14.07)
6. Sure anything but fight them!!!!
Daniel ,   Tekoa   (01.14.07)
7. He's a freaking MURDERER!!
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (01.14.07)
How do you commit murder "moderately"?
8. Sneh is politically clever, shrewd and cunning
Monk ,   USA   (01.14.07)
This is insanity. Clever Israeli and American leaders have a history of this political dexterity and chicanery; playing one evil off against another evil. The US played these games alternately supporting Iraq then Iran and then Iraq during the nineteen eighties' Iraq -- Iran war. Ultimately the Reagan and then the Bush administration chose Sadaam as the lessor of the two evils, playing him against the more wicked Ayatollah Khomeini Then sadistic Saddam felt emboldened enough to invade Kuwait and here we are 16 years later, settling scores in Iraq. So much for cunning, Sneh style. Then there's Israel. Supporting Hamas terrorists as a counterweight to Fatah terrorists, thinking Hamas would be the lessor of the two evils. Now then Sneh's sort of cunning has given us a Hamas terror government so Sneh wants to switch back and help the PLO murderers against the Hamas murderers. Sneh: 'If only we release a Fatah murderer from prison, all our problems will be solved'. You've got to hand it to Mr. Sneh, he is indeed clever. Israel will be bitten in the proverbial butt one day and Mr. Sneh will be long gone from the political scene.
9. WTF!?!?
Gavriel ,   USA   (01.14.07)
Sneh should immediately be stripped of his job! This guy is a convicted murderer and he's a "moderate?!!?" That is just how messed up the PA is that this guy is "moderate." I would only say release him under 1 condition, ALL IDF POW's, are also returned (alive). He's the "biggest" chip Israel has to bargain with, DON"T give him away for free!!!
10. Palestinian moderates
Sam ,   Canada   (01.14.07)
There are no moderate Palestinians. Hamas offers a 20 year truce for the1967 borders and the right of return. Fatah offers a peace settlement for the same demands. The difference is that it is more comfortable for secular Israeli politicians to deal with secular Palestinian politicians. Israeli politicians should be able to deal with both in the interest of Israel.
11. FREE YIGAL AMIR !!!

12. Hey guys Kyle is right this time...

16. Barghouti a moderate? By whose definition?
Pumpkin Pie   (01.15.07)
A few years ago, I saw an interview with Barghouti. He was asked if he didn't regret the the deaths of innocent Israeli babies and children who were killed by suicide bombers. His response was that they were not innocent, that they would grow up someday and be in the IDF, so this made them legitimate targets. If thoughts like that qualify Barghouti as being a "moderate" in the eyes of Israeli politicians, then what exactly is an extremist?
17. Everyone thinks THEY can make a deal with the DEVIL
malcolm   (01.15.07)
But throughout history nobody has succeeded.
18. Justice Will Be Meted Out If.....
(01.15.07)
If Barghouti is heaven forbid let loose, I call on Baruch Marzel and all the hard line Jewish right to break out Yigal Amir and settle scores with Sneh et al. These antizionists need to be taught a severe lesson in Jewish justice. Those who are merciful to the cruel end up being cruel to the merciful!
19. DID CONI SUGGEST THIS RELEASE
DEBRA ,   USA   (01.15.07)
WHILE SHE WAS IN ISRAEL? IF SO, SHAME ON HER.
20. Barghouti will not be relaesed
D ,   Israel   (01.15.07)
Marwan Barghouti will not be released anytime soon. He has been processed by a legal justice system for murder for 5 counts and sentenced to 5 life terms. You can't just undue that. It's NOT that easy. So Marwan will probably spend a few decades behind bars, before he can see freedon again. Serves him right for his terror activities. I also suspect Zahar will face the same path.
21. Please somebody explain to me why another solution is never
Brooke ,   Canada   (01.15.07)
Today Abbas again proved he is not a moderate and only wants ALL of Israel as he humiliated Rice. Finally, no moderate deception in that stance. There is a fair and sane solution and over 80% of the Palis polled said they would go for it. Transfer. There is a brilliant plan at www.jerusalemsummit.org. They would be the richest refugees in history. $100,000 per family when they all arrive at their new destination like France or Cuba. Israel will finally have peace in their G-d given land. The money is there and can be implemented tomorrow. Visit the site and lend your support. Shalom!
22. Al Qaeda Got Life Without Parole, Here.
Dave Levy ,   Burbank. USA   (01.15.07)
If I weren't a Zionist, I would have given up on Israel long ago. Israel could have stopped the Intifada within days, had it used it's awesome power at that time. Barghouti is a symptom of other problems, denial and timidity. Israel doesnt' understand the Arab goal, all Arabs. It also won't hang it's convicted terrorists (as does every Arab country). It "deals" using those incarcerated enemies. It should have hung Barghouti, just as Saddam was hung. Until Israel wakes, up, we will read again and again how it caved in to pressure (from Condi). Coincidence you ask? It's a disgrace.
23. Convicted mass murderer is a legal problem?
Ilan ,   Ariel   (01.15.07)
This only shows how perverted and evil are the priorities in the Israeli "peace" camp. Yelling at someone requires a ministerial committee, but releasing a convicted murderer is OK. They are taking the country to hell by adopting the morality of the devil.
24. When u got no idea, u better shut up
Obama Bum Lala   (01.15.07)
every little talkbackist is a potential PM... we've seen ya americans in Iraq, your strategists are worse than an average jurnalist.
25. Y
john ,   nz   (01.15.07)
If Hamas is holding the kidnapped soldiers, it would not be in the interest of Hamas for Barghouti release in light of the current Hamas-Fatah conflict. So why release him. Just because he can stand up against Hamas? What a bad idea.
26. Just keep him, if it worth it before to jail him
Simon Mohammed ,   falls church, VA USA   (01.15.07)
he stood up, you stood up, who will give up???????????? but stop making fucking stories we got a lot lately
27. I have to repay the arabs somehow

In the long run, South Africa's apartheid regime had to release Nelson Mandela, and the world was better off for it.
