31. Congratulation Barghouti, your training is done…
  (01.15.07)
Now its time for you to go back and lead those emotional, corrupt Palestinians into more miseries and chaos. When will those people learn and see it as it is. If Barghouti was a threat to Israel, he would have been blown to pieces and not paraded in front of cameras with handcuffs. It’s time to leave this region for good – it is doomed for eternity and I have better things to do with my life. A resident of the Holy Land.
32. 13 May GOD deal swiftly and very harshly
freedom ,   canada   (01.15.07)
with all of GODS chosen people. Those from outside and those from within Israel. God bless Israel.
33. Sneh: "There is a legal problem"
Terry ,   Eilat - Israel   (01.15.07)
Yes, Mr Sneh. The legal problem is MURDER. Absolutely disgusting.
34. Moderates?
Yaakov ,   USA   (01.15.07)
How is it that a multiple murderer is considered a moderate? Barghouti was the facilitator of the second intefadah, and thus is responsible for all the deaths the operations he planned from Sept. 2000 onward that he planned, not just the handful of murders of which he was convicted. Any Pali arab who voiced a truly moderate, pro-peace direction would be murdered by his own people as a traitor. The Palis only have various degrees of terrorist radicals, no moderates! Abbas and Co. must be having belly laughts over Rice's recent assertion that the US weapons recently given to Fatah to protect Abbas from Hamas won't be used against Jews.
35. Don't Allow The Regime To Release Him Under ANY Circumstance
Adina Kutnicki ,   US   (01.15.07)
This is for sure - IF they dare release him then no Jew in Israel should be compelled to listen to the authorities on ANY issues. NO taxes, NO nothing. At this juncture Israel's leaders would have lost any moral authority over its citizens. Releasing Barghouti because he is the most popular PA leader would be like releasing a captured ! Hitler because the nazis still wanted him to lead. Who the fuck cares if Barghouti is popular? Of course he is popular having orchestrated many Jewish murders! Is this something that Israel's leaders should be rewarding and encouraging?? I know that Israel is mired in corruption and that its leaders are shameless. But the release of the architect of Jewish murders crosses ALL RED LINES. Please create such a balagan if the regime dares to do this. I know that I would not pay taxes and would create anarchy if Washington captured ! and then released Osama et al.
36. Even Arafat was guarded in prison
Steve ,   USA   (01.15.07)
B"H Just because someone is chosen as leader does not mean that he cannot remain in prison. That was the precident set with Arafat. He was chosen and ruled from prison for his murder. If this one gets chosen, he also can rule from prison. It seems that he has no problem making press releases from there right now, so why not keep him where he could lead from ... from his cell? Murderers need to stay in a protective environment where they will not get themselves in trouble again with his society. If you "allow" him out, then he can get exposed to Hamas and other unsavory elements that would undermine his leadership abilities. If you are going to pretend to help a murderer, this is not the way. By the way, if you are deputy Defense Minister, who are you defending with this move? It sounds more like that of a public defender of a criminal than a deputy Defense Minister of the Jewish people who would release a murderer out to execute more Jews.
37. Finally Common Sense
saba ,   USA   (01.15.07)
Everyone with one iota of common sense knows that there are certain lines that the Palestenians cannot concede and likewise there are some things that the Israelis cannot concede. The problem is that every time a Palestinian leader is able to deliver a real peace, the Israeli leadership undermines that leader. This always empowers the extremist who are more than willing to do something stupid to empower the nuts on the Israeli side. Barghouti is a leader that can deliver the peace and keep it. Sneh has finally realized this and kudos to him for being bold enough to state this publicly Release Barghouti from the trumped up charges negotiate in good faith (ie not a one sided agreement) Reap the benefits of a true peace Yes, It is that simple
38. #26 Ha???
Niki   (01.15.07)
can you please translate.........???
39. Out of our minds...AGAIN
scott ,   Jerusalem-Israel   (01.15.07)
We never learn. We propped up Arafat hoping he would do our dirty work. Now we want to let this animal out of jail to help us clean house?? We don't shoot ourselves in the feet, more like in the head!!
40. Deputy defense minister: We'll mull Barghouti's release
Ben Milner ,   Reading UK   (01.15.07)
It appears to me that Israelies sometimes loose their minds trying to work out peaceful permutations as if they were negotiating a deal with a willing party. Sadly it reminds me of a Rumkowski style mentality, failing to grasp, despite the abundant evidence, that you can't negotiate with someone who wants your life. Surely everyone can see that an armed Palestinain state in the west bank alongside Israel will lead only to the destruction of Israel and its people. The moment such a state has control of its borders it will arm itself. A good analogy of the position is that of the sudaten lands.
