Good joke posted on #2 that many people don't seem to understand : Rabbi Amar is the chief sefardi rabbi of Israel who does want to impose his rule on all rabbinates around the world. For this, he first declared that no conversion done overseas would be recognised in Israel. Then, he is proposing a new bill to the knesset which would forbid all converts to immigrate to Israel. As a conclusion, the real rabbi Amar is a shame for judaism, the fake one is a good joker !

The Koran allows Muslims to eat pork and to drink wine in case of necessity (2:173; 5:3; 6:119; 6:145; 16:115). It allows even a person to hide his religion and to apostate in case of necessity (16:106). This is called dissimulation (taqiyyah) which is part of the Shia and Druze religious dogma. Even Sunni Muslims practice dissimulation. Israeli idiotic policy needs idiotic solution. Conversion to Judaism can be an excellent way to put an end to this idiotic policy which discriminate people according to their religion.

I am aware of Islam allowing dissimulation in times of necessity. However this case would not fit the circumstances. Further, the Rabbinate does check all conversions. This would not work... but nice try

Rabbi Amar, I don't understand why no converts should enter Israel.When no converts should enter Israel then the entire jewish nation is irrelavant because according to the Torah the Jews all converted at mount Sinai as they left Egypt. And in the Torah are so many jewish converts for example Yithro and his entire family including his daughter whom Mosheh married.So mosheh's children were not jews then.King Solomon`'s mother was not a jew , so then king Solomon is no real jew because his mother was a convert .Ruth was a convert . You should not throw stones when you live in a glass house.

Let's give him the benefit of the doubt & see what the trial reveals.. after 14 yrs as a Haredi, let's assume his conversion was genuine. But his family connection & the current conflict certainly put his decision thru the fire, and brought him back to his roots. Sometimes the heart is hard to pin down. I feel sorry for his predicament. I just hope he's innocent, otherwise all converts (esp. Arab ones) will be thrown into bad light just from this story.
