1. Iran has been in control for a LONG LONG time.

"for the first time, the Iranian threat must shape our policies." Iran created Hizbollah and filled Arafat's place after he was evicted from Lebanon. The first Lebanon war was heavily financed by Iran. Iran ALWAYS shaped Israel's policies. Iran has more influence on who sits in the PM seat at the Knesset than Israelis. After Iran backed Hamas started blowing up busses in Israel following Rabin's death, Bibi was elected. It just goes on & on. Disconnecting Iran from the region is like removing a cancer. There are no easy solutions. And giving away the Golan to Assad as a prize for SAYING he will reform his ways is totally insane.

If I were one of the Israeli politicians I would encourage Iranian to continue their policy and also I would be aware of them too Israel doesn’t need to give back centimeter of Golan back to Syrian because in final day the Syrian need to have peace with Israel
3. #2, Can you explain?

I thought people who live in SF have some sense, obviously you're an exemtion. The question is why "in the final day the Syrian need to have peace with Israel"? Syria will get the Golan back with or withoug Iran's help. Bottom line is when not if. And how Iran "indireclty" servers "our" interests, o' wise arse?

Look all around Arabs nations and you will see how they have a fear from Iran and they start to support Israel after 58 years that they have been against existence of Jewish state Do you believe if some Arabs nations has desires to build nuclear facility that is because of fear from Israel despite they have knew Israel has nuclear weapon since 1960? Can you see that the Arabs nation they don’t consider Israel is their enemy and they believe the real threat come from Iran which that has the majority of Shiite population Don’t you see the small minority sonny have control of the entire gulfs nation which the majority is Shiite? Yes it is true Iran indirectly serves the Israel interest if you like it or not Golan from the strategic point is very important for Israel and if you know about the history Golan has been dispute land since the British mandate beside the Arabs nations have started three wars against Israel and have been defeated all of that wars why should Israel give back them the Golan ?

6. #4, You keep repeating yourself
Persian CAT   (01.22.07)
and keep convincing me that you have no clue. You keep speaking of "Arab nations" when you should be talking about Arab tribal chiftains who call themselves the royals. What you have heard third-hand about these guys is that they are a bunch of corrupt tyrants who are scared to death that what Iran "says" will encourage "their" people to rise up and get rid of them. There are many signs that this may happen. Golan as far as I'm concerned is occupied territory and it will be taken back by Syria not it's Israel's choice that this will be by war or negotiatons. Israel USED TO win its war with Arabs when Iran under the Shah was supporting it. But since Iran started supporting some Arabs, the Shiehs in Lebannon, the picture has changed. Remeber who kicked whose arse in Lebannon as recently as last year TWICE!
