I only made aliyah 3 years ago so I am a bit sketchy on this but as I understand it there are several unresolved legal issues pertaining to Peres too ?! If this is the case then he definitely shouldn't be elected.

The fact that people write that they want peres for president,shows how dum and misinformed the israeli public is. Peres does not deserve this position, he is without morals or ethics,then on the other hand,that is what is lacking among the israelis in general. So they get what they deserve, low class unethical leaders who lie and cheat on them. Besides that israelis do not have to worry about their reputation abroad ,they do not have one. Peres seems determined to participate in the process again in 2006 and was quoted as saying "even if I lose, it's not my loss, but rather, everyone's." what a ridiculous statement. Does that also mean we lost all those times we voted against him and he lost the elections? How can anybody vote for somebody so haughty as to say something like the above statement!!

Peres at his age should retire and enjoy his retirement. He should spend time writing his autobiography.

Listen up people- None of us have a vote in determining who the next president of the State of Israel will be. The Knesset has refused the Israeli public the right to vote for its own president. The president is not a democratically-elected official. The Knesset is denying us a say in who is to represent us publicly. Why are you not protesting against this injustice?

My poor deluded person, Peres is a fool and should have retired long ago. He doesn't see anything except the for illusions of gradure. He thinks he knows better than everyone else in our country what is good for us. No Peres should not be in any postion that allows him to cause us more harm, don't forget he brought us the Oslo war
