KMR ,   Middle East   (01.25.07)
2. If the Executive of the State can hire Katsva, they
bentham ,   singapore   (01.25.07)
should be able to FIRE him with or without compensation. Tell Katsva, his service no longer required and give him a two months salary .OUT ! He can live on DOLE !
3. Katsav said what others said in Herzlia
Alex ,   LA, USA   (01.25.07)
In Herzlia, almost everyone said that Israel is corrupt, the government of Olmert is corrupt, wealthy families that keep Olmert in power are corrupt, and everyone knows that police and Mazus are corrupt. The president Katsav just repeated it. Everyone already knows it and no need for corrupt lawyes talk like they did not know it.
4. Ynet is relentless
DAVID ,   JUDEA   (01.25.07)
Now it has some lame professors giving their meaningless opinions. They are upset that the president is telling the truth about how corrupt the israeli system is. We know it the world knows it. These are all tactics to keep scum like olmrat in power. This is a diversion from the fact that a deal has been made ,to throw out another 80000 jews out of their homes. If we are going to impeach every official for misconduct, there won"t be many left of them and the knesset can be rented out for other more usefull purposes. Man israel has become a joke to the world.
5. I have my doubts with this article also
Steve ,   USA   (01.25.07)
B"H The attorney general announced in public his intention to persue rape charges and none have been filed. It seems that one side is issuing declarations to the public and the other side is expected to keep his mouth closed. To prevent from interference with the investigation, Katsav kept is mouth closed. But once the Attourney General announces that he has the charges ready, the investigation phase has closed. His public accusation of "rape" without substance behind it also published deserves a response. Quite to the contrary, Katsav is fighting the charges. Anyone charged has the legal rights to fight these charges through the court system or the Kenesset or at least a hearing with the person making the accusations. Korach was even invited by Moses for a discussion before a final decision was made to prevent a bad outcome for the both of them. Press releases are also not acceptable in a justice system on behalf of the prosecution. Quote: “I would have expected him to resign before making such statements. This is a test for the Knesset, a test for democracy. I expect the Knesset to dismiss the president, and that seems obvious.”
6. Re#2 Kenesset hired pres, not PM
Steve ,   USA   (01.25.07)
B"H The Kenesset hired this President. Not one charge has come forth from the Kenesset.
7. # 1. Nasrallah having the last laugh due to...
(01.25.07)
8. Katzav
yosi ,   montreal-Canada   (01.25.07)
Others corruotion probes are no justification for own suspition of coruption. Moshe Katzav has so many so be clear is that the presidents office can not and should not have his name on it one more minute.
9. An innocent man may act like Katsav as well
Chanan ,   USA   (01.25.07)
It may be irresposible as a President and public figure for Katsav to behave like this but it has nothing to do with his guilt. One can understand how outraged he may be and is displaying it if he is innocent .
10. The Professors do not share their opinion on Olmert/Peretz/
Chanan ,   USA   (01.25.07)
and Livni guilty behavior. Why not?
11. This prof knows the people
Haim ,   New York   (01.25.07)
This prof looks like a mafia guy in Brooklyn. I will be interested in his oppinion on Olmert, Peretz, Livni, Peres, Sela, and other characters. Do they look nice?
12. PRESIDENT KATSAV
shanatova ,   australia   (01.25.07)
I do not not know the whole story. However, when this type of serious allegation is made against any political Member of the Knesset, or even the President of Israel one must always look to the Torah to see the biblical principals for such a situation. Whether Mr Katsav is innocent or guilty, the most important action he can take at this time is to step down graciously and with humility. This will do more for him than his alleged emotional tirade against other government and business bodies in Israel. The strategy here is to go quitely. People in public life are to act with dignity as befits their position. What type of example is this giving to the world. Israel is supposed to be the "LIGHT" to the goyim. I am in continuous contact with those who work for an Australian politiican. I have come to understand the protocol and sadly Mr Katsav has not responded but has reacted most inappropriately. I feel sorry for him, since even if he is innocent, he has made it look much worse for himself. shanatova
13. Yated's reporting is biased.
shelley ,   Melbourne Australia   (01.25.07)
Selling papers comes before an individual's right to justice. If he is innocent he deserves a fair trial. Yated is allowing him to be judged without due process. If he is innocent I hope that he sues Yated for their attacks on his character.
14. 2 sets of rules
Rafi ,   Australia   (01.25.07)
It seems that in cases of suspected impropriety right wing individuals are expected to resign and leftwing/"moderate" individuals need not do so. I recall all the same people saying the same stuff about Bibi, Sharon (20 yrs ago), etc but remaining conspicoulsy silent re Sharon (2yrs ago), Olmert, Barak, etc. How long must we listen to the leftwing intellectuals preaching tolerance and fairness when they apply no such standard to themselves??
15. Let's face it ,
Joe ,   USA   (01.25.07)
Where there is smoke... there is fire .Katsav , be a mensch.... clear your name in court, and don't blame the messenger (media) for the message.
16. and why exactly should we believe the police?
(01.25.07)
17. Katsav must Resign
Esther ,   Ofarim, Israel   (01.25.07)
It is true that the Media "hounded" him. But, as a public figure, as President, he can hardly expect for his conduct to be ignored. His speech sure did not do anything to convince me of his innocence. It was disgusting and humiliating to watch.
18. Katzav is right
yair pachima ,   Jerusalem   (01.25.07)
Katzam made a sound analysis of Israel. The 'Professors' are in the business of règime maintenance
19. President talks against his country !
Elisha ,   Efrat   (01.25.07)
Here we have a man who thinks he is above all the rules of the State. He thinks that he is a dictator with overuling powers. How else can you interpret his raving against the institusions of the very State he is President of ? He has no feeling for the Stae, that he is supposed to represent, he is only interested in his own status and position. That speech really was an embereesment to all, a low level, not rational and factually inaccurate paranoid display that no-one in there right mind could think would help him. Another Katsav blunder.
20. Channel Two's guy
TViewer ,   Israel   (01.25.07)
certainly behaved 'irresponsibly','pathetic' and 'frantic', no? Why? Did the hat fit maybe....
21. Strange that
NL ,   TA Israel   (01.25.07)
so far no-one has commented on the disgusting outburst of the Channel Two representative at the press conference. Who am I kidding! Not strange at all, just disgusting, and so self-humiliating and so very rude. Who on earth does he think he is,?My my, behaving like a guilty criminal, tut, tut. Where on earth did he think he was, back at the studio, where he's 'king' and can do and say( and hint) whatever he wishes every night?
22. So what is the big deal...
Ali ,   Lebanon   (01.25.07)
All tyour community and so called state is based on crimes...Go back to Russia, Germany and Africa...I am sick of reading your news
23. If Katsav had any decency
Richard ,   New York, USA   (01.25.07)
he would step down from his post. Israel has enough problems, and the sex charges against him are making things look worse.
24. eminent law profesors?..........
Israeli racist ,   Judea   (01.25.07)
at mohammed univeristy....lol......They could step in dogs....t and call it democratic....
25. katzav
sas ,   israel   (01.25.07)
you do not have to be a professor to see what kind of person katzav is. he is cheap, low class, uneducated and is only worried about himself. he claims he cares about his wife and children. had he really cared for them he would not have acted as he did. he is a sick man that needs counseling.
26. Innocent until proven guilty
Harry   (01.25.07)
It is sad that I amongst many don't trust the Israeley Political Justice and police. Katzav might just be victim to the Israeli hatred towards him. Remember what the Israel did to the Yemenite children plucked them from their parents and gave the parents a false death report. Where any of these criminals brought to justice. where the Israelio Police who struck and touced indecently young girls in Amona brought to Justice?? the whole Israel justice is a farce.
27. Who does this guy think he is?
Daniel ,   Tel Aviv   (01.25.07)
Law professor or not, this guy has just demonstrated the intellect of a mollusc. Who does he think he is making a statement like that BEFORE anyone has seen ANY evidence of supposed crimes. The President could be guilty of the charges, but let's have the decency to see before judging... And let's not be ridiculous like this Dotan guy.
