2. Get Real!
Israeli ,   Israel   (01.25.07)
Dina from NY, what are you babbling about? You don't even live here. The president is a scum bag, and I hope they catch all the other crooked politicians. Maybe we should send them to New York...
3. To #2
M. Hartley ,   Atlanta, US   (01.25.07)
Please, don't send him over here!!! We have enough of a cross to bear with Jimmy Carter.
4. #2,71% & Israel like this simply vanish in year's
Bob ,   U.S.A.   (01.25.07)
5. ask the public if Peretz should resign - 93% say yes
(01.25.07)
6. I thought he was great!
Aristocrat ,   KSIsrael   (01.25.07)
Not the usual boring old Mertzy Galonny Beilinny latte and pesto whining and moaning. He painted such a true picture of our nachnach society. They don't like GUTS here too much...as they're all usually so constipated, the latte crowd, who would die to get the attention he got last night. They and the TV crowd roam the coffee places, hangars, namal etc waiting to be seen, dreaming of the limelight given to the President last night. Just LOOK at their reactions. THAT says it all. What a cool dude.
7. Democracy + 71% Lynchmob Mentality = ???
Paqid 16 Netzarim ,   Ra'anana, Israel   (01.25.07)
Anyone surprised by Israel's nadir image in the world need look no further. Disregard for the law is flaunted in Khevron and the Arab-occupied West Bank (thankfully, no longer in Azah). But even within the so-called "civilized" Leftist population the mindless lynchmob mentality reigns. If Pres. Katsav resigns without being convicted that sends the message that, in future (and like in the U.S.), one doesn't need any grounds to terminate a politician's tenure or career. One only needs to smear him or her and let the mindless lynchmob mentality take over. The suggestion to take his photos out of schools is equally irresponsible. That sends the same message to kids: a person is guilty as slandered. If he's proven guilty in a court of law then he should be impeached AND his photos taken out of schools. But it should be according to law, not the rule of slander.
8. What did the remaining 55% say?
Buster ,   Australia   (01.25.07)
9. he should be impeached
eliza ,   jerusalem   (01.25.07)
forget about his indictment, just based on his crazy speech last night he should be thrown out. what happened to decorum? respect for state institutions of which he represents? he is a disgrace to this country and should have been impeached last night.
10. Katsav is an embarrassment to Israel
Richard ,   New York, USA   (01.25.07)
and should resign or be forced out.
11. No faith in your polls
Paul   (01.25.07)
12. Back off
Tomer ,   Hod Hasharon, Israel   (01.25.07)
I thought his performance on TV last night was simply pathetic. Nonetheless, he has not yet been convicted of any crime. I believe we should let the rule of law take its course. He should stand down temporarily until he is found guilty or not guilty by a court of law. Until that time, I'd prefer not to hear about him again.
13. Innocent until proven guilty...
Atara ,   Israel   (01.25.07)
That is Torah law but this government ignores all of it...... All of you who have decided his fate without a trial, may the same be done to you one day......then, maybe then, you will know what it feels like to be wrongly accused.
14. Ynet polls
Yisraeli   (01.25.07)
do you belive it? I dont. on the contrary I hear alot of support for the president after his speech. I have no particular love for Katzav as he didnt protest the sin of Gush Katif. But hello do you all realise he was NOT indicted? there is only a CONSIDERATION whether to indict him. And the press have tried and executed him already. Yea Israeli press, mush to be desired more like 3rd world dictatorship press working with government and police in suppressing the people instead of holding gov or police to account, but then Katzav is a shvartze to the media thats why he said he doesnt belong to the so called self appointed elite and gets vilification of the press. az mah chadash b'aretz?
15. To all those who pity him...
Arielush ,   Ramat Ha Golan   (01.25.07)
How far we have fallen. In 1977 Rabin resigned because his wife had an American bank account . 40 years later a man accused of rape insists on representing this country. Does he have no shame? Let the law take it's course, however if he is found guilty let him do the time. May I also add if he is found guilty his life time pension should be nullified.
16. Try again # 15
Anon   (01.25.07)
Good principles, bad mathematics.
17. katzav
ami ,   israel   (01.25.07)

18. To#15-R U normal?Accused is NOT a proved!
Sam ,   London   (01.25.07)
19. #9 + #12
Dorothy Friend ,   Tel Aviv   (01.25.07)
He made Nixon's ramblings on that night in August '74 look as if they were written by Churchill. Is there a translation of them into English yet? CNN International did simultaneous translation of parts of it.
20. i don't want him out
Yochai ,   Israel   (01.25.07)
because if he is out he will continue to rape and torment women but if he is still the president we can continue to keep an eye on him how do you like my logic? in fact we should give all the crooks and rapists jobs in government so that we would be able to keep an eye on them.........sorry, they are in government already.
21. If true, shame on the Israeli people
Sidney ,   USA   (01.25.07)
A man is innocent until proved guilty in a court of law! Media lynchings are as shameful as physical lynchings.
22. Re Yisraeli #14
Abdullah   (01.25.07)
frunny enough that is what i told my wife yesterday. I told her this whole thing seems very odd, that perhaps they're just going afater him b'cos he is "one of us" (i didn't say schwartze). She i guess like most women assume that he is guilty until proven innocent and she didn't understand why i doubted his guilt. In a western country, i would say that he should resign for the sake of the country even if he is innocent. But in israel that is just political suicide foir him. once he resigns the case will drag on so slowly outsied the limelight and when it is done, and assuming he is innocent, it will be too late for him to regain his career the damage would have already been done. So long as he keeps his post, the legal system will work more quickly and he can more quickly prove his innocence (or guilt). So if ully understand his refusing to resign, he knows the "people" he is up against.
23. katzav
sad ,   israel   (01.25.07)
should resign and he should be not allowed any special privileges usually given to former presidents. the man is a disgrace to the country. he should go back to kiryat malachi and sit and sweat in his garden. he behaved like a VERY low class man. I guess he really is a very low class person.
24. You're Wrong
simcha schloss ,   beit shemesh   (01.25.07)
We the people of Israel are supportive of President Katzav. Your polls are just as inacurate as your news.
