1. Not our concern, our concern is SDEROT, NEGEV, YESHA,ISRAEL!
(01.26.07)
Why arent they featured daily on ynet?!?!? This should be our concern, our own citizens. Where are the daily interviews, comments, video, from the citizens of Sderot and the Negev and Ashkelon?!??! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
2. looks like hareidi is burning madona's bra in the picture
gabriela ben ari   (01.26.07)
3. Let's get this show on the road...
M. Hartley ,   Atlanta, US   (01.26.07)
If all of Israel's problems will go away with a few boatloads of "modest" clothes, for what are you people waiting? Roll out the frump couture and see what happens. Just hang onto the fun duds, in case the asshats on the other side are not impressed and keep shooting qassams, anyhow. I don't mean to make fun of anyone's religion, but this does sound a little odd. I guess, a Victoria's Secret franchise wouldn't go over too well in this neighborhood.
4. dr. strangelove photo
hanina   (01.26.07)
I'm sorry, these people have lost it. I would show up with my marshmellows because it's been a long time since I was at a roast.
5.  YNet does it again
Shalom   (01.26.07)
You never seem to run out of demonizing stories - at least you are consistent. The people who organized the demonstration did it for their OWN communities; begging women to take on ONE extra stringency as a merit of Israel. They are not after YOUR/YOUR WIFE/GIRLFRIEND/DAUGHTER's clothes. They believe that we have to look within for an answer to all the tragedies that are befalling us - not just terror, but the many cases of young people dying of cancer, etc. They are NOT beating up people in the streets, nor can I believe that IF this case happened (there are many "modern" elements who like to besmirch their more "stringent" neighbors) it was one meshugganeh - this is NOT the way that any Rabbi would condone. Pls remember though - if you were in a religious Muslim area, you would dress according to local standard, so why not in a religious Jewish area?
6. Idea
Lady Kitch ,   everywhere   (01.26.07)
Re-do brit milah on these dudes every ten years. Should "curb their passion/desires"? Probably not, they'll still stay fixated with sex and women. (Fire is sexy too as they well know...) What a 'baal tashchiss' to burn clothes ( shocking waste of money).Go and bring food to the hungry children in your kehillas you sex obsessed creatures. But let the WOMEN give it out, for everyone's sakes... or else let the WOMEN give the clothes to the secular centres that distribute clothing. The clothes are certainly fairly modest, and would be a mitsvah, you parasites. Show a bit of refinement and care for others for a change, instead of 'grob' primitive vandalism.
7. THEY are Israel's problem, not immodest clothes...
Aharon   (01.26.07)
Obsessing over such trivial things while one in four Israelis live in poverty and rockets rain on Sderot and Ashelon and Hizballah re-arm in the North. Pathetic. Why don't they do something productive for once - burning bras isn't going to save these idiots.
8. mutual assistance pact
Michael ,   Haifa   (01.26.07)
Just a question of time until the Haredim sign a mutual assistance pact with the Taliban
9. Problem is people wearng clothes to warm for them in summer
RyanH ,   ashdod   (01.26.07)
Obviously their brains have fried. Who let the Taliban in ?
10. HAREDIM
LIAMI ,   USA   (01.26.07)
CAN WE PLEASE ANNEX MEAH SHAERIM TO THE PALESTINIANS- CAN WE PLEASE REDIRECT THE FENCE - THANK YOU - ON SECOND THOUGHT THE PALESTINIANS DONT DESRVE THE CRAZIES EITHER.
11. My rabbi asked me why I hadn't gone
Daniel van Dalen ,   Jerusalem   (01.26.07)
And indeed I should have. People like this 'Yehudit' who describes herself as 'modern haredi' should be completely and fully ejected from the Chareidi world. They damage the spiritual wellbeing and the education of our children. Regarding violence, my opinion is that we need to use that amount of violence which is necessary to make it clear to non-tznuos that they should never again set foot in any chareidi area. Oh, by the way, that includes female shababnikim (shababnikot?). If they choose to dress improperly, that's their decision, but *NOT* in our neighborhoods. Let them join the rest of the Jerusalem trash on Ben Yehuda street and the like.
12. Please let us know next time
CHILLUL HASHEM   (01.26.07)
We'll come and collect these clothes Tshirts etc etc to distribute to the needy in secular areas. What disgusting men AND women. Only thinking of themselves ALL the time. Chillul Hashem of the worst sort.
13. I don't understand
Not a convert ,   Thank Gd   (01.26.07)
Where do these 'naughty' clothes and 'naughty' girls come from, if all 'these chareidim' are so holy in their own holy areas? Doesn't make sense. They're surely not so bored that they need to put on a show for passers by? I agree fully that when in chareidi areas, we must dress accordingly, or not go there. I think that many converts and nouveau religious have problems to sort out, and this is one of their ways of coping. Nouveau rich and Nouveau religious(nouveau Jewish too) are SO similar. They have to be SEEN (being extreme). 'True blue' chareidim give mussar quietly in their OWN kehillas, but we others never hear about it, as they never ever make a 'show' of it. They don't have this sad, bombastic and desperate need to 'be seen' to be chareidi.
14. We need some haredi in Ashkelon. Please come ASAP
Yacov ,   Ashkelon   (01.26.07)
What is wrong with Jewish women dressing modestly? The streets of Ashkelon, especially in the summer, are infested with fake-Jew immigrants parading the streets dressed like whores. You can't tell the Russian mafia real whores from their look-alike wanna-be's. Then the wanna-be's complain when they get treated like whores. Our beautiful city is beginning to look like a street-walker convention.
15. These guys fall in line with the Shiekh in Australia
(01.26.07)
He said women without the veil were like uncovered meat --> causes problems Haredi saying pretty much the same thing. Move to Saudi please, you will be much happier
16. WHAT IS THIS ULTRA CHAREIDI GUY
A Shyla from ,   Ben Yehuda   (01.26.07)
#11 DOIN' LOOKIN' AT YNET?? He's worried about what his kids wear and see YET HE SURFS READS AND ANSWERS YNET??? Members of my chareidi family DONT and WOULDN'T. Wonder what else he surfs...'in the name of the law' so to speak. Probably needs it for 'work purposes' ha ha...I've heard that one before.
17. #16, answer
Daniel van Dalen ,   Jerusalem   (01.26.07)
As a matter of fact I work in the ICT sector and on the internet.
18. To 5 i agree with you %100
Vered Jacobs ,   Australia   (01.26.07)
you've got a very strong and clear point, which makes sense.
19. #5 has missed the point
MF ,   Israel   (01.26.07)
As a religiously observant person I dont see why Ynet should not offer us these stories, so that we can see how far extreme positions can take you! This is probably going to be a "gezera sh'hazibur lo omedet ba" (an impractical suggestion which the community will reject). Together with the foolish ruling which I have just heard that ultra haredi leaders are forbidding young women to pursue continuing education (i.e. professional studies) because these leaders cannot control subjects learned. This is the point, everyone, CONTROL.
20. Why don't you move to Mea Shearim
Another Shylah   (01.26.07)
#14? or would you miss these gals (you describe with SUCH juicy detail and enthusiasm)...too much?
21. Uh oh, my sister's in trouble
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (01.26.07)
My mom is always yelling at her that the bottom of her shirt and the top of her skirt don't always meet at the middle. She has even been known--oh horror of horrors--to wear jeans! Don't mess with my baby sister.
22. go to any strip club
dave ,   israel   (01.26.07)
and see many haredi men with their sidelocks tucked behind their baseball cap
23. I'm for modesty, but ...?!?
Lucy ,   Netanya, Israel   (01.26.07)
I'm all for modesty, too, but what's going on here?!? One rabbi put it this way: "How terrible it will be for you teachers of religious law ... Hypocrites! For you won't let others enter the Kingdom of Heaven, and you won't go in yourselves. ... you ignore the important things of the law -- justice, mercy, and faith ... Blind guides! You strain your water so you won't accidentally swallow a gnat; then you swallow a camel? "How terrible it will be for you teachers of religious law ... Hypocrites! You are so careful to clean the outside of the cup and the dish, but inside you are filthy -- full of greed and self-indulgence! ... First wash the inside of the cup, and then the outside will become clean, too. "How terrible it will be for you teachers of religious law ... Hypocrites! You are like whitwashed tombs -- beautiful on the outside but filled on the inside with dead people's bones and all sorst of impurity. You try to look like upright people outwardly, but inside your hearts are filled with hypocrisy and lawlessness." Then that rabbi wept tears for his countrymen and lamented that the temple would be left desolate -- he laid the blame at the feet of those who so desired to know G-d. It's all written in the history of Israel written by Mattityahu, chapter 23. But these teachers of the great and good law have banned the New Covenant in their schuls. We are sorry. Because modesty is good, when worn over a pure and humble heart.
24. Yes it's me again,the Haredi basher.
Sagi ,   Israel   (01.26.07)
Counter action should take place. There should be a mass burning of clown suits, funny hats and long white silk sox in Dizengoff on Friday afternoon, just five minutes before the start of Shabbat.
25. to #14 yacov from ashkelon
yael ,   ashkelon   (01.26.07)
our beautiful city is ugly because of people like you. how dare you intimate that anyone who doesn't dress the way you think is appropriate is a whore! and the way you talk about women is truly disgusting. i don't know who you are but you are the kind of person who give my beautiful city an ugly name! if you don't like it, move to mea sharim.
26. What a judaistan...
Jonas ,   SAD   (01.26.07)
It's not Talibani, its Jewlibani! Is acid the next step?
27. #5 You CAN have your cake and eat it too
Ben Yehuda   (01.26.07)
#17 manages it beautifully. What you call, the best of both worlds, not bad... But when it comes to others, then the motto is 'Don't do as I do, do as I say' #17? Quite a lot of untzneeyos stuff on ynet, ALL connected to your work no doubt... but you cope extremely and enjoyably well, no? Or, be honest, is it just hard to completely give up a previous life style?
28. Jewish Taliban!!
Chaya ,   Bat Yam, Israel   (01.26.07)
First it's the buses and now it's clothing!! Women fight back. Start calling yeshivot and rabbis' homes and sing!! If you find yourselves on one of those buses - SING! (For those of you who don't understand this, it is - in their strange interpretation of the Torah - forbidden to hear a woman's voice.)
29. #7 - BRAVO!!!!!!
A real Jew ,   Haifa, Israel   (01.26.07)
30. #20 You're in the streetwalker business?
Yacov ,   Ashkelon   (01.26.07)
We also need the haredi in Ashkelon to help get rid of the fake-Jew Russian mafia that plagues our small businesses with their protection rackets and their drug trade. Israel does not need to be the cesspool of the Middle East.
