3. A HAMAS-STYLE ELECTION
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (01.28.07)
This is a fine example of the Palestinian electoral process. Nothing like a democratic bomb to express your political opinion. They're using a new slogan - Bullets, Not Ballots. Now I'm sure Fatah will cast their own "ballot" for Hamas - And to think, some cynics said the Arabs would never embrace democracy.
4. Abbas escapes assassination attempt
shanatova ,   australia   (01.28.07)
Has anyone heard of the Western Media posting apologies to Israel now that this interfeuding between Hamas and Fatah has been escalating. Perhaps it has taken these events to prove to the world just how these Palestinan factions operate. If the assassination of Abbas is successful, the next thing will be a war between Hamas and Hezbullah. This kind of mind set never gives up. What I have learnt about people of the Middle East - patience is their major weapon. shanatova

7. Israeli Lie Designed to Instil Chaos
(01.28.07)
As the learned men would say, it's not in "Israel"s best interest for Abbas to be assassinated by Hamas, and the subsequent strife... However, the jewish state continues to defy all logic by extending this conflict to perpetuity, through lies, lies, and more lies. We shall see who prevails!
8. Thorny path of nation-building
Xaxam ,   Yes!   (01.28.07)
The loose assembly of hamullas, gangs and grudging petty family tyrans has a long way to make until it becomes a nation and could claim a state of its own. No guarantees that they will make it. Havyng a martyr (like assassinated Chairman) might contribute to forging a national ethos. Let's see and wait another hundred years, then probably the dust settles and if there will be somebody left, perhaps we will talk.

10. Probability for an Arab leader to reach old age is very low.
Uzi ,   Haifa   (01.28.07)
Only few Arab leaders reach or exceed the average life expectancy of the general Arab population. Abbas and Mubarak are very lucky to have made it so far.

For heaven's sake, do you people ever take responsibility for anything? This is your own damn civil war. Stop blaming it on the Israelis and start owning up to the fact that Hamas and Fatah are now on a collision course, and all the efforts to deflect the blame from the people who are responsible for the mayhem is only going to perpetuate the problem.
