Mush DeLeon ,   Brooklyn, New York   (01.28.07)
mwhahahaha
2. It should have been done long ago
Benjamin ,   TA Israel   (01.28.07)
Israel Arabs are citizens of Israel, they should have same rights and same obligations. The more they participate in the work of government, the better they will be integrated into Israel society. I hope will become more loyal to Israel then British Muslims to Britain.
3. Outrageous
Antonio ,   Haifa   (01.28.07)
This is Israel, not Ishmael. These people are not real Israelis, Jews are, and they shouldn't even be here. And they plan to give him the Welfare ministry? Can somebody say "let the fox guard the hens?"
4. he will learn secrets ! that's a catastrophe!
(01.28.07)
5. How would Israel survive this?
eNosho ,   Syria   (01.28.07)
If you are not interesting in your own religion, then be it at least on your enemies.
6. Majadele - "I will not be a minister without portfolio".
redmike ,   tel aviv - Israel   (01.28.07)
did I dream the above -" I will not be a minister without portfolio". Methinks not .. If I'm right then he just got screwed (he was unqualified for the job anyway) and will hope that everyone will forget what he said a week ago. He suits Kadima - and Labor !
7. What Are His Qualifications?
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (01.28.07)
No one talks about his qualifications. Is being an Arab a qualification? Is helping Peretz win Arab votes a qualification? Does he have a Nobel Prize in science? Why should he be a minister? Don't we have enough incompetents in gov't positions? So, here we have someone with no qualifications appointed by someone else with no qualifications - is being unqualified a qualification for gov't positions? I guess so.
8. arab minister
sas ,   israel   (01.28.07)
well done. shold have been done years ago.
9. HEY JIMMY - YOU WATCHING - HOW MANY JEWS ARE IN ARAB GOVT'S?

10. Oy va voy!
Keren ,   SP-now in Israel   (01.28.07)
What is the backgroud of this figure to be the Science and Tecnology minister of Israel? Out of this obvious fact, why to name an enemy of Israel to be minister of it?Or am I mistaken and muslims want Israel to keep happiIly striving ? I guess we deserve our fate! This appointment is something amazing!!!!!!
11. Raleb Majadele, another Trojan Horse!!!
tejo ,   The Neterlands   (01.28.07)
12. Palithugs kill each other & we get an Arab minister
BigE ,   Israel   (01.28.07)
Sweet irony. The Palithugs can't even manage to govern without killing each other. We're called every evil name in the book, including an apartheid state, yet we name an Arab minister to our government with only one dissenting vote! Jimmy the Dhimmi and all the other Israel-haters - Are you listening?
13. Israel needs many more Arab Ministers for better future
Atilla Karagözoğlu ,   Istanbul   (01.28.07)
but real ones. not fake ones. strong ones. I prefer believe in Lieberman. He is Lover of Israel ! If he is He should have no problem with Arab Ministers. Thats the only way for future endless strong State of Israel.
14. It's finished, now we wait
Shiloh ,   Israel   (01.28.07)
People could not destroy us from the outside, so now 'jews' will destroy us from the inside, letting in the enemy. Who is our real enemy?
15. Took us long enough
JPS ,   Efrat   (01.28.07)
It finally happened and it's a good thing. For all you negative talkbackers, who seem to be too weak to allow democracy in Israel, well, time to brush up on your accountability skills. If he can do the job, he will. If he can't do the job, then golly, he'll have lots of Jewish predecessors to follow in their footprints. My guess is that he'll do his best to do a good job and make a good impression. I suspect he'll appoint far fewer cronies to cushy jobs than, say, Tsahi Hanegbi. My guess is he'll attend lots of committee meetings, he'll be present in the plenum more than others, and will be judged on his deeds, not his religion. For all of you who don't want an Arab minister, hey, you can vote for Lieberman, or move to a Jewish country that isn't democratic.
16. Make him minister of defense
jason white ,   afula,israel   (01.28.07)
He would probably do a better job than peretz! I hope the next govt makes this regime pay for it's stupidity and for the damage they are doing to our Jewish country. No one who did no serve in the I.D.F. should sit in the knesset or be in the govt.
17. Mabruk and goodluck!
Avner   (01.28.07)

Eyal ,   Haifa   (01.28.07)
24. lieberman's problem: He is RACIST
Rami ,   Nazareth   (01.28.07)
It's a dark time for Jewish democracy when a fascist part is allowed to be in government
25. If Israeli-Arabs are good enought to...
Rami ,   Nazareth   (01.28.07)
serve in the IDF and put their lives on the line to defend the jewish state and its citizens, then they should be good enough to serve as ministers and even higher positions.
26. to all anti's
charles ,   petach tikva   (01.28.07)
Terry , do you need a Nobel prize to be minister ? Don't you know that NO minister decides without consulting specialists in his/her office . They all have some good advisers . And why could this man not be a honest Israeli minister , who will try to promote the science and culture of his , and our country . And where are the voices who call Israel a non democratic apartheid state ?
27. arab Minister
happsettler ,   Ofra   (01.28.07)
IT'S NOT JUST A BAD DAY BUT IT'S A SAD DAY AND FOR THE JEWISH PEOPLE IT'S A MAD DAY,THAT OUR GOVERNMENT RAISES IT'S SNOUT AND AND PRAISES IT'S FAITH ACOMMPLI- MADNESS HOLDS NO SURPRISES!!!!
28. To Rami from Nazareth-you sound like an decent, intelligent
Roy ,   Jerusalem   (01.28.07)
guy. Please continue posting.
29. Majadle Should be a role model
Mike ,   Switzerland   (01.28.07)
While there are certainly personal politics involved, I do think this shows that from a functional and pragmatic level, Arabs who choose to work positively and proactively through the mainstream will achieve much more for the Arab sector than the extremists like Ahmed Tibi or Bishara. Arabs should look at Salim Jubran, Raleb Majadle, and Wahabe as role models.
30. #25 - Time to clarify your staatement
Reality check ,   BaGolan   (01.28.07)
"Israeli" Arabs are not obligated to serve in the IDF as are Jews. the FEW that do serve have sworn an allegience to the only State in the Middle East that provides them democracy and opportunity, not to mention freedom of religion and speech. what has become more descriptive of "Israeli" Arabs is what is demonstrated by Arab MKs calling for the destruction of the State and Arab leaders condemning this appointment as "racist." The time has long since past that Arabs need to decide: Will you say in Israel as devoted citizens, or leave and go to Gaza, Syria, or other Arab/Muslim entities where there is no freedom other than the freedom to be martyr for Allah!
