31. Actually Indians can be anti-semitic
Steve ,   Dallas   (01.31.07)
I was lectured by an Indian business student about how the Jews (i.e., the Rothchilds) controlled the price of gold every day. Also recall the Nazi themed restaurant in Mumbai "Hitler's Cross". There usually isn't the malice attached to this form of anti-semitism as you see in the west and middle east.
32. Yes, the sign is unacceptable but...
Michael Steiner   (01.31.07)
...how many of the millions who see it know that it depicts two Jews??
33. #1 so, why are they there?
v n.y. ,   israel/boston   (01.31.07)
why the need to portray two jews reading from the bible to warn anyone of possible poisoning on the train? how can the warning relate to two jewish men? no connection between the nature of the wqarning and the jewish men unless....someone WANTED IT TO BE RELATED AND CONNECTED!!!!!
34. LOL
Hani   (01.31.07)
35. #3
(01.31.07)
if you do not see any connection here, you are either dumb, stupid or blind. why is there a need to all of a sudden portray two jewish religious men reading the bible right next to the poison warning? you don't see? i suggest you either buy new glasses or study the kuran!
36. #6
v n.y. ,   israel/boston   (01.31.07)
the point is that the warning message has NOTHING TO DO WITH THE JEWISH MEN image next to the message. most warnings show poisoned food or some other warning images, but not two jewish men because there is no logical relationsahip between the warning and the image.
37. #22- moron
rational   (01.31.07)
your analogy would make sense, but only if it were true that Jews posion people on a regular basis. Unfotunately Arabs DO blow themselves up quite often.
38. Train sign
Count Dracula ,   Los Angeles   (01.31.07)
I went back and looked at this carefully. On second look, and trying to see what an Indian might see, I think i agree with #10. The food laws of Jews are well known. The plate of food shown may well be an indication that Jews are very careful in their food selection and they would never accept food from an unknown source. This warning can well suggest that each should be as careful as Jews in their food selection. Once again it may be that a sensitive Jew finds offense where none was intended, in fact just the opposite.
39. how do we know it wasnt a costume
American ,   USA   (01.31.07)
that the doodle is showing. how do we know that doodle is jews for real or a drawing of some wackos dressed LIKE jews. really, GET OVER yourselves.
40. I think that Hezbollah is responsible....
Ali ,   Lebanon   (01.31.07)
41. What is the context of the illustration?
(01.31.07)
First of all, what's the context? What are the other security warnings (numbers 1- 5) and how are they illustrated? Does the illustration actually infer that one should be like jews and eat kosher? In the end, this is the least of the world's problems.
42. Who Finds This Surprising?
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (01.31.07)
But it reminds me of when I was younger & lived in an Arab country. I had a close Arab friend & his family would warn him that it was dangerous to eat at my house because it was well known that Jews poisoned Muslims.
43. Here is another version of the sign.
Zvi ,   USA   (01.31.07)
(a photograph) http://de.sevenload.com/bilder/3w19Ie8/IMGP0546 But the one photographed by Ms. Alon is SPECIFICALLY designed to carry a racist message and encourage distrust of people who look Jewish by directly hinting that they are the kind of people who might drug innocent people.
44. racism
adina ,   israel   (01.31.07)
im born Indian and we have never faced any problems being a jew in India..i think its a big mistake by some ignorant person in the railways. India and Israel should solve this without a mess.
45. Iris ! dont worry
Atilla Karagözoğlu   (01.31.07)

I never lie. I told you before. I got a jew head doctor. He told me go support Israel. I asked him, what Should I do ? he said, be yourself. than I told him; NO ONE will not understand me ! 46. You're being hysterical and paranoid
(01.31.07)
Some publishing design geek got the caricature off the Internet and inserted it in the label mass produced for the Indian railroad. Not he/she, not the management of Indian Rail, not the vast majority of passengers have a clue who the two guys in the picture are. Not everyone is out to get us. Really, get over yourselves.
47. With kosher food you wont be poisoned
Sergey ,   Moscow, russia   (01.31.07)
It is a very strange picture indeed. I suppose that there are too few Jews in India. It is possible that the picture means: look at this religious Jews. They eat only kosher food and would not be druged. Follow their example. Also, we can't see another warning. Maybe it call not to insult religious feelings of other passengers. In this context the picture looks as absolutely innocent.
48. Wrong interpretation
R ,   India   (01.31.07)
Wait , I am a Indian, I live long time in Israel, I dont think that this two pictures depits two Jews guys, Many Indian dont even have a idea that Israel is a Jews country, Till today all the culprit intercepted by the police for such cases were original Indian , not foreigner and they always first speak very nicely with you in local language and then offered tea and thats it you drink the tea and flle sleepy, So I think its just the imagination of the artist who draw this cartoon, no way it represent any resisim, and by the way who knows better that as a Asian ( and of course ~ dark skin color) how we suffer at the hand of British dynasty, so we dont want to repeat with any other people not even with British people nor we beleive in such thing and by the way atrocities of Nazis is taught very well in our school and people really have sympathy and feeling for Israel , so no way to do such thing And beleive me this problem in train becomes very serious, so Railway are worried to solve them , they dont have any time to think about resisim and jews.
49. That's not how I interpreted the sign
NL ,   Israel   (01.31.07)
It appears that one Jew has the food, and is offering it to the other Jew, who is busy reading. (Just as in another such ad, with a photograph instead of a cartoon, there is one man offering food to another man). Thus, it seems that this sign is saying that you shouldn't accept food from strangers, even if they look like you/ look 'safe', because it STILL might be drugged
50. anti-semitism?
Khaled ,   Switzerland   (01.31.07)
There are quite a lot of anti-semites out there, I don't see why you need to invent new ones. The two guys in the illustration do seem Jewish... But the message seems clear to me: do what these guys are doing and get your own tray of food instead of taking food from strangers.
51. Explanations
elijah ,   Beirut   (01.31.07)
-What if they picked the picture randomly without knowing what it symbols they thought it was pretty to put , so your reaction will make them hate you considering they actually dont. -What if the one who put it was offended by a jew and it is a pay back, so that way now you will be offending him twice then the problem will get bigger and wont be resolved. -What if the guy was a muslim you will open a war between jews and muslims. -What if the racism in India exists and is more dangerous then of a small picture.
52. ACTUAL PICTURE: link inside
(01.31.07)
http://de.sevenload.com/bilder/3w19Ie8/IMGP0546
53. I still don't see what warning has to do with the picture...
Mustafa ,   Canada   (01.31.07)
two Rabbis reading a book has nothing to do with accepting drugged food from starngers... unless by 'strangers' they mean Jews, then it's racist I think. And I really think it's fake, the person that added the picture to the warning wanted to increase hatred between Muslims and Jews.
54. Steiner, since I know it, why wouldn't they?
AK   (01.31.07)
I love that leftist ‘but’ used every time to excuse the aberrant behavior of the Third- Worlders....and Muslims...and various 'aggrieved ' minorities.
55. #7, Lian, anti-Semitism doesn't need reason and never did.
AK   (01.31.07)
One of the man in the picture could even be an Indian, you claim. How? Both men are clearly dressed in a religious Jewish garb, including a prayer shawl?
56. #16, India, from its inception has been rabidly anti-Israeli
AK   (01.31.07)
thus adding a garden-variety anti-Semitism doesn't really surprise me -- it's a natural progression. What you're reacting to is being brought up to the Western standard of behavior -- after all, we all know that 'people of color' cannot be racist --or so we are being told.
57. #22, the sign you're suggesting may actually have some merit
AK   (01.31.07)
since Arab-looking individuals actually have been responsible for blowing up trains, busses and subways in many countries around the world, whereas, there is no evidence anywhere that religious Jews are engaged in a deliberate poisoning of total strangers, hence the sign can only be considered a hate caricature of the Jews, devoid of any reason.
58. its aimed at Israelis not Jews
Moshe ,   Tel Aviv   (01.31.07)
Although the illustration is misguided its most likely aimed at the loser Israelis who travel to India after army service to do drugs and "find themselves." The Indians probably were using these decidely anti-Semtic drawings to warn Indian's citizens against the effects of the drug culture we Israel's helped to foster in their country. Israel ought use the same text but with drawings of Meretz Party members on Egged buses.
59. Website/Email address of Indian Railway Minister(state)
(01.31.07)
Shri Naranbhai Rathwa, Minister of State E-mail: msrn@rb.railnet.gov.in http://www.sarkaritel.com/ministries/railway/index.htm
60. Now wait a minute
Richard ,   New York, USA   (01.31.07)
This sign is in English and it looks like it's telling it's Jewish tourist not to accept eatables from strangers because it might be harmful. And saying a prayer over the harmful food wont help.
