I do agree that the war in the palestinian territories and especially Gaza is going towards being Religious, But in the area of Hamas point of view. I mean that Hamas members are trying to make the Battle religious, they think that they have the ability to win a religious war, as they are well recognized as "Faithful" and introduced martyrs and etc. on the other hand, accusing fateh members of destroying mosques and killing prayers etc. This is because muslems has a sensitivity toward so. One should ask why Hamas and Fatah are fighting now. After Israel's retreat from Gaza, defeat at the hands of Hezbollah and the use of inhuman violence against the protestors in Amona the Arabs have come to the conclusion that Israel has lost the war and will cease to exist in the forseeable future. Your use of terms khawarej and murtadeen in this context is misleading. Murtadeen was historically used after the death of Muhammed for the description of muslims who rejected Islam as a religion then and went back to their ways of kufur(atheism). Fatah people and secular Palestinians that are Muslim by name are still Muslims and as such cannot be described as Murtadeen.
