"'It's unfair and unfortunate. These are political situations and they should not come with judgments like that. These are situations outside this country in a war,' said Abuznaid, deputy chief of the PLO mission in Washington." Translation: Terrorism, e.g. suicide bombing, is just fine. The court, however, amounts to asynchronous warfare. This is one more sign of perverse indoctrination. I'm not even sure what he's fretting about. The PLO gets all its money from the EU, US, and Israel, so it's not like the Palestinians will actually be paying these victims - it's more like a transfer of funds among Western nations.
2. US Court.

What else one can expect from a US Court
3. This should be happening in Israel with PA Tax money not US
Justice being Served   (02.08.07)
US courts are better then corrupt Israeli ones who give awards to PA and not thier own citizens for terror attacks. Israeli VICTIMS of terror attacks including Qassam rockets hitting Sderot should be able to claim a large chunk of PA monthly taxes as damages! US has set the precedent and now Israeli courts should follow!

Next time they fire a Qassam, they have to think twice. It may well cost them $48mil. per Qassam fired.

If fincial damages are actually recievied - there is a new deterrant in the war on terrorism.
8. #4: Please clarify your response ... and be more respectful
Dea T. Harris ,   Cult   (02.08.07)
Why are you upset? Did you misinterpret my post or are you sympathizing with the terrorists? It's a fact that the PLO has committed numerous acts of terrorism and that nearly all their funding comes from foreign nations, particularly the EU, USA, and Israel. In fact, they regularly receive billions $s in aid. I can't think of people less deserving of it. Unfortunately, the Palestinians responsible for this atrocity will not be the ones reimbursing the victims. I hope many more of these suits will be filed so that the nations offering "aid" to these terrorists will realize their funding only goes to support terrorism and their aid will finally be withdrawn. It's ironic that the USA, EU, and Israel, among others, are engaged in a "war on terrorism," yet they fund the very terror organizations that intentionally murder their citizens, in hopes of making friends with them. Let's get this straight: they don't want to be your friends, they want you dead. The more you try to accommodate them, the more emboldened they become. And why shouldn't they - your proving their tactics work.

10. PLO doublespeak
JPS ,   Efrat   (02.08.07)
Abuznaid gives the standard Palestinian excuses in the continuing whitewash that attempts to justify armed attacks against civilians. However, Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch and now the American courts all seem to agree that the Palestinians are committing crimes against humanity and probably war crimes. When the Palestinians finally agree that the war should be fought at the negotiating table, peace may prevail. In the meantime, the Palestinians may have to literally pay the price.
11. Once they become a country...
Tracy W   (02.08.07)
"Lawyers for the Palestinian organizations did contest the lawsuit on procedural grounds - including a claim that the Palestinian Authority and PLO were immune as a sovereign state..." Does it mean that once they become a sovereign country Palestinians would be inmune to lawsuits? Interesting. Israel should have been suing them for years, not just the PA and their terrorist gangs, but individual families as well, particularly those that come out openly on Al Jazeera saying that they knew about the suicide bombings, they supported them, and are ready to send more of their kids to blow themselves up. Sue them.

Don't worry about the legal system of the US. Our judges have doctoral degrees, not Bachelors like in the rest of the world. On top of that, what do you expect to happen when the Palestinian side decided not even to appear in court? The decision (unless clearly erroneous) about whose fault it is and how much the victim should receive is decided by the JURY. If there is no one to show evidence for the Palestinians but ample evidence for Mr. Saperstein, how can the Palestinian side win without even showing up? The jury would have to be schizophrenic.
13. the problem with getting the money
Vitaliy, Esq. ,   Brooklyn, NY   (02.08.07)
You see since PLO and PA are foreign entities, the President can essentially just say that they don't have to pay these damages, because the US Constitution clearly gives him that power. The same, my guess, is true in Israel, where that power is probably vested in the Prime Minister. So, if EU and US say to give over all the money to PA, even if the courts will award damages to the victims, the money will be kept by PA.
14. So "aid" money is for paying court decisions?...

Let's just not send them any money in the first place and let their bills run up...why should taxpayer dollars go to paying for what bloodthirsty animals do to innocent people?

All the terror victims of Israel should be suing and allowed to sue and judgements should be against PA and PLO STate Lands. LIENS.
19. remember Quid Pro Quo...
(02.08.07)
It was after all the suits instituted by terror victims or the surviving family members of terror victims which opened the door for such delightful suits as those against a variety of Israeli IDF officers and against Mr. Sharon at Den Hague's international court. But you know all of you delightful people calling for Israelis to sue at will seem to forget that this is a two way street. If Israelis sue in international courts then don't come back with a belly ache and whiney attitude when the Palestinian victims of the Israeli army do the same thing! Take it all in stride its quid pro quo. What most infuriates is that all of the Israeli terror victims receive an amazing package of benefits and support from the State of Israel through the National Insurance Institute (Bituach Leumi) ... so what's the point of sueing?
