3. Pics Who Will Stop This!!
(02.08.07)
When will we stop what the waqf is doing http://www.har-habayt.org/ This is worth fighting for and if it isnt you truly arent a zionist nor a pro Israeli Jew
4. Jews Out This is Muslim Land
Mordechai ,   Boca Raton USA   (02.08.07)
That should be the subject of the article. If the problem is Jews must give in whenever Muslims threaten to be violent they all Jews should leave "Palestine" because Muslims will be violent until the Jews leave. If of course Jews believe they have the right to their homeland inspite of Muslim terror, then Jews have the right to their holiest religious site inspite of Muslim terror.
5. hypocracy
haimon   (02.08.07)
While I certainly consider myself to the left of the political spectrum, want to see peace and disagree with many Israeli policies including the occupation, how can we stand by and accept blame for archeological works while the waqf indiscrimintley does as they please and destroy artifcats historically relevant to the jewish people.
6. Litani - a dhimmi in his own land
Raymond from DC ,   Washington, DC USA   (02.08.07)
Lacking in obvious pride and self-confidence as a Jew in the Jewish land, Litani is concerned about the consequences of offending, stirring up the sensitivities of the Muslim communities. They demand, he caves. We wouldn't want to upset them, would we? He has yet to realize that his sensitivities represent weakness, indeed submission. It only encourages more demands. Is there any comparable sensitivity to Jewish interests on their part? I didn't think so. Taken to its logical extent, Litani's very presence in israel offends the Muslims. How does he deal with that?
7. hi
Lawrence ,   Houstin, Texas   (02.08.07)
Would this writer relax. This is Israel after all. Everything does not work in syncronization. It's a big beuracracy which in this case is the just the way I like it ;). This author does not understand the Israeli man on the strret like I do. Things are done in Israel in strange ways but things get done. To the author slowly slowly. I have lived in Israel things are just like this. Get used to it ... get over it...move on.....my gosh :)
8. Stop Temple Mount works
j p h ,   new york, ny usa   (02.08.07)
Yehuda Litani should hang his head in shame. He does not belong in Israel, but back in the shtetle of 19th century Europe. His "blame the victim" mentality only leads to more violence, not the opposite. If Mr. Litani feels that Israel has no right to assert its sovereignty in its capital city, Jerusalem then he might as well move to Riad where one is not allowed to openly or even secretly practice any religion but Islam. Wake up Mr. Litani and smell the stench of death that your approach brings.
9. When we stand up straight we will be safe.
LEE ,   NY, USA   (02.08.07)
Only when our Nation will be proud of who we are and where we come from will we be free of threats. This author is giving horrible advise. We must stand up straight and declare that the entire Land of Israel was given to us by The Creator. We have sovereignty of it entirely and certaintly in Jerusalem and on the very Mount that His Temples stood. No riots will help. This is Jewish Land eternally!
10. Threats, Intimidation, & Blackmail
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (02.08.07)
And when you give in to threats, intimidation, & blackmail - you get more. This is typical Muslim behavior, cynically using religion as an excuse for rioting & violence. The aim is exactly what the professor wants everyone to do - back down, be afraid, self-censorship to avoid "Muslim anger". This is just like the Popes speech or the Danish cartoons - a non-issue turned into a weapon to shut-up the infidels. Mr Litani wants to be a dhimmi. Anyone remember what the Indians did in Ayodha where Muslims had constructed a mosque on a Hindou holy site? They tore down the mosque.
11. Sorry to to Exist, Sir !
Yisrael ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (02.08.07)
This pathetic and fearful article is all too illustrative of the insecurity of the discredited left in this country, and and an indiciation of their self- destructtive doubts as to whether we have a right to be here at all. If we have no rights to our holiest site, then we have no right to Tel Aviv, either. Our enemies know this and get great comfort from the cowardice of the author and his ilk. Wake up, and smell the coffee, you fools !
12. Sovereign Land of Israel
California Bear ,   Berkeley, USA   (02.08.07)
The State of Israel has the right, as does any other nation, to conduct any type of operation or construction projects on its territory as it deems necessary. The world's capitulation and preemptive surrender to the vitriol coming from Arab and/or Islamic regimes is alarming and only serves to strengthen the voices of the lunatics. Must every nation conduct themselves according the Muslim sensitivities? DEATH TO THE SICKNESS (I.E ISLAMIC FUNDAMENTALISM) !!!!
13. RE: Stop Temple Mount Works?
Steve ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (02.08.07)
Despite what Litani might suggest regarding potential "bloodshed" we have done nothing wrong at the Mugrabi gate. If someone would take a little time and see first hand what all this commotion is about ,it will become apparent very quickly that this issue is nothing but a "red-herring" used once again by the Palestinian leadership to deflect attention away from their turmoil. If it's not the excavation it will be something else the Palestinian leadership will create inorder to blame the Jews. It is about time we stop reacting to every threat made by our enemies for the sake of a temporary lull. Appeasement is the edge that the Palestinian leadership expects from Israel on all issues they create and imagine will spark the juices on the street and force more confrontations with their "zionist enemy". Wake up and smell the flowers for a change. We must seek peace out of strength not out of weakness. Otherwise one day we will find ourselves on another nation's streets looking for another homeland.
14. Israel: Claim Your Land
BJL ,   Appleland USA   (02.08.07)
Israel tell the world Lo! Lo! Lo! This is our Temple Mount and we shall protect it as we see fit! We WILL go and pray to Hashem! You arabs will not stop us....No More.
16. Temple Mount
MP ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (02.08.07)
What's wrong with you? Why dont you focus on the real probem of the arab enemy instead of your galut mentality of self hatred and self blame. "Dont anger the muslims," you write. Are you kidding? Who cares! Remember whose country this is.
17. The last infitada never stopped, let them go pound sand.
Bunnie Meyer ,   Santa Monica,CA USA   (02.08.07)
18. Facts are wrong
yosef ,   tel aviv   (02.08.07)
Litani can have any opinion he wants. The only question is why does he have to base his opinions on falsehood. He says that the september '96 riots started when Netanyahu decided to open the tunnel (at the base of the western wall) without coordinating with the Arabs. WRONG. Rabin made a deal with the Arabs they build a huge mosque in Solomon Stables on the mount, Israel opens a tourist site at the base. In the meantime the Arabs built the mosque, when Netanyahu opened the tunnel the Arabs rioted, and now Litani blames the Jews. Litani also says the that October 2000 war started because Sharon visited the mountain. WRONG. The war began about a month before with increased shooting attacks, massive Arab attacks on the Atarot airfield and the shooting in the back of an Israeli policeman during a joint "peace patrol". Litani can blame the Jew, but even Arafat admitted that the war was initiated by Ehud Barak's offer of only 98% of Judea and Samaria without the "Right of Return".
19. SURE. GIVE IN TO TERRORISTS AGAIN....
Ben Avraham ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (02.08.07)
20. israil
huda ,   jerusalem   (02.08.07)
please is any problem is a policy or a religouse one .. i think israil is confused on this matter ,it is not the moslems .. we know as a moslems what alaqsa means to moslems .. but israil is the enemy of palastinians it is a policy not religouse .. but to moslem it is an enemy to the religion if it trye to destroy the mosque
21. why let falsehood dictate?
ben ,   israel   (02.08.07)
It is proposterous to say that digging in the Jewish Archaeology park outside the temple mount and on the other side of the massive 2000 yr old retaining wall - that is laid in bedrock of 50 to 500 ton stones is even a remote danger to al aksa or the mount. It is beyond ridiculous! Find another excuse for hostility.
22. maybe we should've rioted ..
johanna ,   tsfat   (02.08.07)
when they started building the extension to the mosque on the temple mount. they didn't have archeologists to do excavations of our holy site. oh no, they just treated it all like so much trash and dumped all the earth, artifacts and so on in a dump like a rubbish dump. there are 1st temple artifacts mixed up with 2nd temple and so on...they were trying (&succeding) in destroying our historical remains and records. we are doing proper excavations and no doubt will hand over anything that belongs to them to the wafqi. its all just an excuse. they will riot, if they think it will achieve their purpose, ie more concessions, and not if they don't. they have big troubles at home.. so you find a common enemy, us, to unite the people. its standard macheavelli. we have to stand up to them and say they can't have one standard for them over archeological remains and another for us. we may have protested (a bit) but we didn't riot. they take that to mean that we don't care about our holiest site.. which is not true... they don't understand that according to halacha, we can't go onto most of the har bayit as we are not "pure" so they take that as indifference to it. moshe dyan should never have given the keys back to the wafqi. we do our best to respect all the holy sites, whichever religion, they don't seem to do the same.
23. I have issues with your opinion:
Michael   (02.08.07)
1) The author makes it seem that we are in a state of peace with the arabs. we unfortunately are not. 2) The author infers that it takes a major "provocation" to cause the arabs to kill. Unfortunately, they don't need much reason to kill and if they don't have one they make one up. This incident is a perfect example. 3) Sometimes in life ,and as a nation, one has to stand up for its beliefs and principles. If we don't what is the point to life? Take the example of the school bully. Oh if I do x,y,z the bully will get mad at me. and beat me up. That is the kind of life the author prefers? what kind of quality of life is that? 4) The arabs do not want to see aJewish state., so according to the author to avoid bloodshed, should all the jews buy tickets and leave?! I'm not looking for a fight but if we believe in the state. That means we believe in freedom. If we have to worry and capitulate for driving a car on road or repairing a structure. Where is our freedom?!
24. We have a solution !
Atilla Karagözoğlu ,   Istanbul   (02.08.07)
Lets accept the fact. Jews want to build the prayer house. They believe it. They want it. They need it. Muslims want to keep the place. They also believe it. They will die for it. ------------------- Lets build a few flats (floor) more on the existance place. LETS MAKE THE PLACE FOR TWO RELIGION. Let me explain it little better. First floor is the existance place. The second floor will be Jews place. I DONT THINK THE GOD WILL MIND THIS. THIS WILL BE SHARING. THIS WILL BE BROTHERHOOD. THIS WILL BE REAL LOVE AND RESPECT. why The God did create us, anyway ? to share !!!!!! yes. to share world in peace. so, we share. why not ?
25. What a shame
Jonathan M. Boyko ,   Ofrah, Israel   (02.08.07)
We should every time just bail because we are afraid of the Palestinians? What if they say: "If you won't stop breathing we'll attack you", what will we do? The excavation works performed at Israeli territory. The Palestinians will find themselves any excuse at any point of time to attack us - doesn't matter which excuse. Fearing them all the time is pointless and dangerous.
26. Don't be arogant choose your battles - Litani is correct
rh ,   Ashdod Israel   (02.08.07)
I have had enough of these gung ho readers who want to provoke at every chance. Experience has taught me that in every aspect of life you should choose when to fight and when to stand down. This is a stand down moment. Listen to my wise words and they will help you in Marriage, Parenthood, Business and Sport
27. what is slavery? what is freedom?
alef ,   herzilya   (02.08.07)
what is the point of having jerusalem if we cannot do live as free people in our city? are we to determine our actions by the threat of terrorism and violence against our people? if that is the case then why have jerusalem at all? we brought freedom to the city but if we are dettered by threats and terrorism then we are slaves to our own city and we might as well turn it over. jerusalem is ours and we shall keep it free and do what is necessary to preserve our artifacts and our infrastructure. if we have to dig and find the ark of the covenant then we shall, if we have to build the third temple then we shall. i hope this is a wakeup call for people who want a bi-national state. this is how jewish actions will be confronted: with terrorism and violence. i for one will not be a slave in my own city but a free man.
28. Stop the hand-wringing!
Annekl ,   PT   (02.08.07)
What's with all the hand-wringing and "who will stop the wicked Israelis from excavating their own past?" Honestly, you'd think the writer didn't live here. Where is his outcry against the illegal and dangerous excavations that the Wakf has been executing for years, undermining the foundations of the Temple Mount and, what is much much worse, destroying any artifacts that show a Jewish connection to the Mount. In any case the Muslims don't need any particular event to incite riots and intifadas against Israel. If it's not the Temple Mount, it will be a fabricated killing or some other nefarious plot. Israel needs to stop hand-wringing and looking over her shoulder at what people might say and do. She just needs to act in her own self-interest. No one else will do it for us.
29. Like it's written
(02.08.07)
That the Jews will collect themselfs and they will get separated again by their hands , you people can not live in peace , you are trouble makers , you are digging your graves by your hands , you play with the fire , if this works will not stop right now all your praying places around the world will be in danger , you will be attacked everywhere and you know this and still you go on , then you cry and call the others anti-simitics and so on from your brocken discs which the world are fed up to hear it ... remeber ... you are playing with the fire and you will get burned if you don't stop ... the Moslems around the world will not leave you in peace . now it's up to you
30. Only when we stop breathing they will be happy !!!
