2. this is what happens...
Tali ,   Ramat Aviv   (02.08.07)
...when a country like Egypt turns their back on thousands of tunnels dug the past six years which bring slaughter to Jews. for that they get not one consequence. Makes one wonder why?
3. They always find an excuse....
DR ,   Florida, USA   (02.08.07)
to end the peace process. As if it was strong before this incident. Arabs need to mind their own business and forget about what Israel does. Maybe if they focused their attention to their own problems, they could actually make progress.
4. You are not allowed to find Jewish artifacts..
Frosty   (02.08.07)
under our Mosque, proving that your Temples used to stand here. This is forbidden for the wholy sake of Islam. HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA

Andy ,   ramat hasharon   (02.08.07)
integrity of the mosque - but keep digging. Uncover our history. Document our past. For Israel, the Jewish people and the entire world, please let us keep digging!!!
8. Egypt Crap
Brod ,   USA   (02.08.07)
It is NONE of the business of Egypt or any Islamist-Jihadist country or any other country to interfere in Israel's internal affairs. Jerusalem is the Eternal Capital-City of Israel since ancient time. Jerusalem belongs to the Jewish people who should defend it from the usurpers and contaminations by the dark forces.
9. it's not there buisness
jerome ,   basalt, co   (02.08.07)
or anybody else's. If Israel wasn't fixing this walkway some Palestinian would get hurt on the old one then the Islamic world would be in an uproar about why the Jewish state didn't build a new one and how they aren't talking care or the holy site. the muslims need to get a new national past time beside hate the Jews!
10. Time to take keys away from waqf.
Yacov ,   Ashkelon   (02.08.07)
It was a critical mistake for Dayan to give the keys to the waqf in 1967. Arab Muslim racist bigots interpreted this as Jewish weakness, Jewish willingness to accept dhimmi status. It is time to take the keys away from the waqf and place the Temple Mount under direct control of the Israel Government and a Board of Rabbis. The waqf could submit requests for services, Muslims could request permission to visit, but sovereignty must be Israeli Jewish.
11. # 10 The liberals will not do that
Kissel   (02.08.07)
They enjoy their Dhimmi status.
12. this is ridiculous
Jordan ,   Washington, DC   (02.08.07)
This is ridiculous... apparently it's ok for muslims to 'renovate' the temple mount... dig in to solomon's stables... completely destroy (intentionally) all of the ancient Jewish artifacts... but when Israel trys to do something that actually is important for the stability of the entire area as a whole, they freak... Everyone needs to realize that the whole situation is about religion... NOT land. Muslims believe they have the right to control everything automatically and that they are 'superior' to everyone else (i.e. dhimmitude). This should not be tolerated by the rest of the world. It's sad that some people would actually side with them on this.

14. archaeology and the mosque
tom ,   toronto, canada   (02.08.07)
it is certainly true that increased archaeological excavation will undermine the al-aqsa mosque, but not in the way that mubarak says. it is not a physical threat, but a historical one, because uncovering the jewish history of temple mount will undercut the arab propaganda that even denies that the temples ever existed there. it is, however, ironic that the arabs should protest archaeological excavations, when they themselves bulldozed tons of material from under temple mount, and threw it away, intentionally destroying its historic value. "discussions" with the waqf are a waste of time - they have a vested interest in pretending that temple mount is a moslem holy site, even though it is not once mentioned in the entire koran!
15. Disgraceful Outcome From Dhimmi Actions
Adina Kutnicki ,   US   (02.08.07)
Who the hell cares what Hosni has to say, or for that matter what Abdullah has to say? The fact of the matter is that the Israeli regime brought it upon themselves. They have allowed ! the Islamists to run roughshod over Jewish rights in Israel ever since the Wafq ! was given the keys to Judaism's holiest site. Can you imagine Israel having control over Mecca & Medina?? Jews cannot even enter their countries. let alone control ! their holy sites. Until Jews DEMAND (forcefully if necessary) a resumption of their rights in Israel, dicatators for life will be upbraiding Jewish envoys. A sorry and disgraceful spectacle.
16. SACRED & HOLY
B. Idol ,   St. Louis, USA   (02.08.07)
Is it appropriate to value (sacred and holy) places/structures over human life? Isn't it a form of idol worship? A policy of destoying attackers' sacred sites might deter attacks. It also would probably lead to attacks on Jewish sacred sites. Who cares? (see paragraph 1). Didn't God hide Moses' burial site to avoid "sacred" sites?
17. Do we tell them where to dig in egypt?
jason white ,   afula,israel   (02.08.07)
Let the dictator of egypt shut his mouth.Just because we have spineless govts that listen to the egyptian enemy and run to talk to him.He is not going to give us orders and tell us what to do in our Jewish capitol and on OUR sacred Temple Mount!
18. Give me a break...
Natan ,   USA   (02.09.07)
Stay out of Israel's internal affairs!!! Seems like every bit god damn dictator sticks it's nose where it does not belong. Mubarak, you should dedicate your time and efforts to continue supressing your people as you have been doing for the past 27 years!!! Besides, why is it that it is always Israel's actions or lack of, that affect the "peace process" ?
19. what would Jimmy C say?

because israel's enemies never consent to israel's existence. the only choice israel has: to unilaterally define its borders and defend same, or not . . .
27. Kinda One sided ....
Roy Galut ,   Selah Washington USA   (02.09.07)
Israelis can't halp make the mount more secure but Muslims have free reign to strip any evidence thst the Jewish temple ever existed ..... they are currently stripping the passages under the mount of Jewish artifacts... Do a search on muslim escavtions on the mount....
28. The Jewish spiritual reformation needed
Steve ,   USA   (02.09.07)
B"H Are we truly prepared as a Jewish people to reinstitute the Cohen service and rebuild the Temple so that this service can be performed properly? Is that not why Israel keeps the Arab practice up there, because the Jews do not feel capable of performing the service in a pleasing manner yet? I really am not sure that we are. Even if the Jewish people have a lot of cows, its is more than flesh that makes the service complete. It is the ability to appease and make happy G-d which is no easy task. It is certainly worthwhile to attempt it. But it is not at all easy. My perception from reading the Torah is that G-d's hand is reflected through the acts of nations. We cannot just close our eyes to the current events. We need to learn how to deal properly with the nations and people around us so that we have the spiritual conditions to reinagurate the service. The physical Temple is in ruins. But so too is the spiritual condition of many of the Jewish people. That spiritual condition needs reformation so that there is the wherewithall to conduct the service properly. We need to seriously pray and act towards that spiritual reformation on our side so that we do everything we can to prepare and be ready for G-d's direct leadership versus G-d's leadership through the hand of nations of the world. We need to be ready for the right hand by dealing with the yoke of the left hand. Good Shabbos Israel!

I think you are quite right..Steve ...and that time might not be to far off....
30. These guys are so afraid that some Jew
Steven Wilson ,   Anchorage, Alaska   (02.09.07)
will excavate and find his relatives old dishes, that they are ready to deficate in their trousers. My god, what if one of those silly Jews finds evidence that we stole their land. What if those silly little Jewish scientists can prove that the Jews built the Temple Mount and the Muslims stole it? We Muslims can't let history show that we aren't the true builders of Jerusalem. Lets squelch this excavation and promote historical lies like we always have. It will be a real bummer when the Muslims find out that they are a bunch of theives of other religions artifacts. It will go over just like telling everyone the world is round rather than flat.
