Since olso Israel has become afraid to do exactly whats nececary to defend itself there are half hearted measure like the ocasional targeted assasination but the last full scale operation was defensive shield in 2002 and even then Sharon allowed himself to be preasured into pulling out before its aims were fully achived. Olmert went into Lebanon dropped some bombs killed a few terrorists but then pulled back without achving the goals and called it a great victory but Israel came out of it looking humiliated by the arabs. Hundreds of rockets have been fired from Gaza sonce Olmert came to power but he has refused to launch a major operation in Gaza to do something about it .. instead he declares a ceacefire which lasts about 1 hour before the rockets started falling in Israel again but he doesnt allow the IDF to act he wants Israel to stick to its side of this ceacefire. Peretz and unofficialy Olmert want to give up the Golan for a Syrian owned park,. Peretz has said that Israel should accept the Saudi plan and ditch the roadmap. Everytime the Israeli government worries that they are going to upset arabs in Jerusalem then they end up punihsing the jews ,, illigal digging on Temple Mount almost led to a wall colapsing and Jordnaian engianeers fixing it, they continue to destroy archeology because the government is unwilling to have a confrontation, if the arabs show sign of getting upset about it then jews are forbiden from going up Temple Mount ... whats the point of Israel having soverignty of an area if it doesnt exercise that soverignty ..the Israeli government has become a puppet of the waqf in their attempt to make Temple Mount a jew free zone. Its only a matter of time before they cave in on the bridge issue which provides access to a gate that the waqf have no control of only Israel for security reasons.
