1. Yes and no.
cfs ,   Toulouse, FRANCE.   (02.12.07)
"There's nothing like the Mugrabi Gate affair to prove the futility of the dream of reconciliation with the Arabs." For me this is wrong, peace between Arabs and Israƫl can be made. I am agree that excavation works is not damaging mosque.
2. I don't get it
Libneniyyeh ,   Lebanon   (02.12.07)
why these enciting articles? Why twist everything around? Why don't you stay on a good course? The point made about Lebanese PM is not at all valid, and if one reads news elsewhere one will see, for instance, how close an Israeli jet came to being shot at by UNIFIL forces for crossing the blue line. But to get back to the point, now you are trying to make it seem as if all Arabs knew very well what was going on but just wanted to make trouble, that Arabs are never to be trusted, etc. I'm sorry but that's a lot of hogwash. If you keep stereotyping Arabs this way you'll head for disaster. You don't even want to see that the majority of people only want to be reasoned with. Furthermore, where is your evidence for this article? Where is the letter or notice sent out to Sanioura or to other Arab leaders about the works being done? Im sorry, but this article only serves to further enflame your readers who felt that they were "betrayed" by the Mayor who stopped the works. You're not helping anything and there's no sense that there is a sincere desire for peace and communication.
3. The fault lies with our own Jewish negligence
Yacov ,   Ashkelon   (02.12.07)
The author makes very good points. However, Jews themselves are to blame for our negligence in failing to communicate the truth about our positions and situations. We fail to prepare advance public relations campaigns, we fail to conduct ongoing informational campaigns to explain and justify our positions, and we fail to counter the false propaganda of the Arab Muslims. As a result, we lose our rights, give up our justifiable positions, and gradually return ourselves to dhimmi status. Jewish negligence will only lead to more Jewish losses. We have only ourselves to blame.
4. you're right #3,
rz ,   usa   (02.12.07)
our problem is that we assume too much. We cannot credit them with intelligence or honesty. We expect the truth should matter - it does not to them.
5. Libneniyyeh its a two way street
Simon ,   London   (02.12.07)
Perhaps if the Moslem world were to rid its self of all the trappings of clasical antisemitsm then there would be progress. Stop publishing the protocols of the elders of Zion. Stop producing TV shows showing Rabbis taking blood from Children to make Matzot. Stop publishing Mein Kampf in Arabic. Stop demonizing Jews. Then may be there would be progress. For the record it was Haj Amin el Husieni in the 1920's that accused the Jews of trying to remove the foundations of the Al aksa Mosque, and guess what its still there and will still be there when you and I are dead and buried. Its a two way street Libneniyyeh
6. #2 Being Lied To
Akiva ,   NY, NY   (02.12.07)
Libneniyyeh, not the point. The work is either a real threat, or it's not. Sometimes people can dispute on things like this. Not this time. It's no threat, it's on the other side of the wall of the compound that has stood for 2500 years. See graphics here - http://mysticalpaths.blogspot.com/2007/02/small-mound-of-dirt-and-big-self-hatred.html So your leaders, religious and political, are lying, big time, to you, in such a blatent fashion that we can't understand how anyone can believe it.
7. not a moon ,not a sun
kamar ,   jerusalem   (02.12.07)
jews see only david star ... and the palastinians see the dark only
8. to #3. the fault lies with the 25% who voted kadima
aaron ,   ra'anana   (02.12.07)
9. Simon 5
Libneniyyeh ,   Lebanon   (02.12.07)
Simon, I agree with you that it's a two-way street. If there were more human, interpersonal connections over the globe there'd be a lot less hating and bloodshed. Somone on another talkback said how the majority of Palestinians had never met any Jews and vice versa, hence all the demonification and hatred. Even in Lebanon, the reason why I hope that someday Lebanese people will unite is that one day all our so-called leaders will be having coffee with each other and all that might remain amongst us will be the rubble, destruction, and hatred incubated by their own political, quasi-religious agendas. If you really look at the world of politics, you will see that everyone is there for the power and the money, and those who are genuinely interested in achieving peace are either blown away or resign in bitter silence.
10. The Arabs keeps throwing tantrums
Chaim ,   Toronto, Canada   (02.12.07)
Because they work. The world thinks that because they are making so much noise, they must have some legitimate grievance. It's time that we, the Jews, tell the world that it is being had. Enough of the lies. Let's turn this around and tell the Arab world that Jerusalem is ours. It's name is Hebrew , the archeology shows its Jewish origins. In 1967 G-d handed it to us on a silver platter, and Moshe Dayan, the immoral atheist, gave it away. Now we are suffering the consequences..
11. #8 Aaron: I agree about the Kadima voters
Yacov ,   Ashkelon   (02.13.07)
However, the other 75% have been no more effective. We all have to do more or lose Israel. Simply blaming one group or another will not form a unified Jewish nation that is effective in protecting and advancing our interests.
12. The Jewish aspect to the issue
Steve ,   USA   (02.13.07)
B"H Do we have the first-born animals being slaughtered in Israel yet as a protest that the mount is not available to bring the sacrifices to? I am not sure. I have seen any such thing. Let us not put the problem on Islam. Yes, Islam is provoking a matter. But it is also an internal issue that it is bringing out in our level of dedication and service. They are enforcing the attitude of no service on the mount, and there is an attitude that this is acceptable so we as a Jewish people to not renew our obligations. The lack of the temple service is affecting the ability of Jews on a daily basis to relate to each other positively, and it needs to reoccur. We need as the first step to see protests where the firstborn animals that qualify have their necks broken because our Jewish stiff necks must yield to G-d's will in order for the service to be restored. We cannot blame the situation on Islam. Islam is simply taking advantage of our internal difficulties, and we need to fix our ship.
13. shakespeare + "anti-truth terror:
izzy bee ,   Jerusalem   (02.13.07)
Message to E. Haetzni: Let's not make hasty conclusions about the dialogue from one of Shakespeare's contentious comedies, reviled by some feminists and misunderstood by many. This exchange demonstrates wiles: Katharina shows herself wise enough to be in charge. While she looks like she subjugates herself to please her husband, she actually controls the unsophisticated guy in this way. Hence if the Israeli defense minister plays the tamed shrew, it may be a decent strategy.
14. No Libneniyyeh, what you say is mostly habbening to us.
Lebanese Batriot ,   Ba'al bek, Loubnan   (02.14.07)
Do not make invalid generalizations to others outside the Islamic realm. It is simbly not true. Before WW1 the Ottoman Embire was nicknamed "The sick man of Eurobe". Today Islam, Muslim countries and many Muslim individuals are the sick man of the world.
