This article like most drug articles puts cannabis in the same level as cocain and heroin. im so sorry for the author that cant differenciate between one and the other and that its considered as bad... why not try seeing what perecentage of kids smoke tabbaco which is in my point of view the hardest of all drugs.
2. then it must be more than 10% IDF troops use drugs
(02.13.07)
indeed that's a major reason !
3. empty people
m   (02.13.07)
When you hand children over to strangers to teach, and the command to 'train up a boy according to the way' is neglected. Is it any surprise you have a lot of empty hopeless kids.and is it any wonder the try to fill up their need to be spiritually stimulated by other means.
4. a few men's dream

what ever we see in middle east is a few men's dream. dont you see ! NO ONE IS FOLLOWING THE GOD'S ORDERS ANYMORE. TOO MUCH WRONG TALKS ABOUT RELIGIONS ALSO. TOO MUSH SELFISH DREAMS we all go to toilets. show me one single men who doesnt go ? EVERY MEN HAS SAME LEVEL IN THE GOD. CLOSE YOUR SELFISH BOOKS. LOOK FOR THE FACTS. JUST TRY TO UNDERSTAND THAT IF YOU THINK OF YOURSELF LITTLE HIGHER THAN OTHER YOU MAKE BIG BIG MISTAKE.

6. #2 this does not follow
Ruth ,   Beer Sheva, IL   (02.13.07)
possible logical explanations for 10% soldiers vs. 30% youths (aged 12-17) could include: 1) A lot of youngsters grow out of the need to prove themselves to their peers with smoking grass. They do not consume drugs anymore when they are drafted. 2) During the drafting process druggies are weeded out. 3) Some young people combine drug use and leftist views, opting out of the military on their own. 4) any combination of the above.
7. 0000000000% Chareidi kids or teens USE DRUGS!!!!!!!!!!!!
YB   (02.13.07)
Try and live a Torah life and you will enjoy your children and grand children!!!!!!
8. #6 viewing the future;
(02.13.07)
1)A lot of youngsters needn't prove themselves to their peers, but find in drugs a secape from frustration. They would even consume more drugs when they are drafted. 2)During the drafting process nondruggies would be looked at as "abnormal" and are weeded out. 3) the disappointed rightest druggies would be packing the army. 4)any combination of the above. Do you think that this "future" is so far?
9. The percentage Orthodox vs NonOrthodox use drugs
Harry   (02.13.07)
Please give relevant statistics. You did write religious teenagers will mostly resort to hard drugs. So why don't you give accurate stats of the percentage of religuios youth using drugs.
10. The 10% Are The Lucky Ones
Dr. Ruth   (02.13.07)
They should those meds with the other 90%. After all, living in Israel is no picnic.

12. Drug use among Israelis
NeoConJon ,   New York, USA   (02.14.07)
Christ! IF I lived in a nightmare country like Israel where the government kept everyone in line by spreading fear of destruction and the need to attack the neighbors every year, I'd be doped up twenty-four-seven myself!
13. This proves...
Persian CAT ,   Middle-O-Nowhere   (02.14.07)
the Israeli youth are just like their counterparts in the rest of the world. No big deal.

This article would seem to do nothing more than highlight the prejudices of the author, and probably the ignorance of any drug authority in Israel. As a drug worker with some 7 years experience in the field (and several previous years of experimentation during my teens), I can assure you that their is no such thing as a "typical user", teen or otherwise. I don't know much about the scale of the problem in Israel, but if this is anything to go by, the problem will get worse long before it gets better.
