I feel that the US gave in and will pay for that in the future. But, time will tell. I just hope that the price we have to pay, is a price in innocent boys lives.
2. IRAN AND US CASH
ISHMAEL ISHMAEL ,   TORONTO CANADA   (02.14.07)
The Iranians if they have not been holocausted by Israel or the USA, will want EUROS!
3. Incorrect conclusion
Aaron   (02.14.07)
The US must attack Iran BEFORE it goes nuclear, or we will lose the war on terror. Bush understands this.
4. Misprint?
RZ ,   USA   (02.14.07)
You wrote, "The world's only superpower ultimately folded." Shouldn't that be, "The world's former superpower ultimately folded?" And what's the big surprise?
5. Bribing Iran
Mark H. ,   Lincoln, USA   (02.14.07)
If Iranian/US negotiations can get a foot hold, what could we (US) possible offer them, more money, more oil? If Iran's nuclear ambitions are geared for domestic energy uses only, then why the need to develope such advanced missile systems? What's up with that?!!
6. To Bush::Don’t ever reward perpetrators of IslamicTerrorism

Vorax ,   UK   (02.14.07)
Paying to the North Koreans serves the purpose, it puts them to the orbit of normal economic life, makes them less isolated, more dependent from Western markets, and farther from "nothing else left to loose" situation. It looks like at Korean peninsula, the Berlin wall 1989 scenario is approaching. Another success of WW.

10. USA and Israel will ATTACK IRAN in less than 60 days!
Tayfun_Turkey ,   Istanbul   (02.14.07)
This article is drafted delibaretly to dispel military action on Iran. Despite It was a delusion to attack Iran un-prepared. US did a sham agreement with North Korea, it is so funy agreement as there is nothing other than promises. They just pay North Korea bribe for delaying its defiance for 60 days, as after 60 days deadline N.Korea will refuse further commitments. Meantime they will provide some part of that agreed delivery only 50,000 tons of fuel oil or as silver handshake. 400 milion US aids is incredibly funny amout and unacceptable by N.Korea. Even Iran may pay billions of USD for N.Korean facilities an other knowledge to transfer to Iran ! By this way N.Korea will not do any further nuke testing meanwhile and distract focusing on Iran. USA cleaned, or thinks it cleaned possible Pro-Iranian powers of Sadr in Iraq who would retaliate US in Iraq in case US used Irak land to attack Iran. So they think they prepared Irak for such action! US also has to attact well before spring during which Taliban in Afganistan is known to start a big campaign against US and Nato forces. Therefore possible attack by US and Israel is in less than 60 days. Now Israel have a new face as a Chief of General Staff, as it was not possible to carry out any military action with a defeated figure. So Everyting is ready. International gold prices do not take heed to North Korean agreement and priced in an attack on Iran. It is biggest weighted voting by Businessman. I guess it is before march and perhaps at the end of this month. Israelis get prepared for missle raining again!

Concerned Israeli   (02.15.07)
Imagine a couple rockets falling on Manhattan every day from Canada. Some days might have casualties, others maybe not. Imagine this goes on for many years. What do you think your government's response would be? That's right. Carpet bombing and no less. Now compare this to Israel's response, or lack there of. I don't know about you, but using this comparison, Israel's seems more like a sissy than a bully. Don't hold Israel to certain standards while holding your own country to different ones.
13. I went to look into Tayfun's crystal
Joe ,   Ohio, USA   (02.15.07)
ball. It looked pretty cloudy to me. Don't go and bet the house on your analysis. I'm sure it's gonna happen someday, but not that soon. If I had to bet, Bush will make his move just before he leaves office. It gives diplomacy as much time to work as possible and he's got the balls and feels he has the mission to do it and won't trust it to a potential new and spineless president.
14. Iran Should Be Brought To Its Knees !!!
Maansingh ,   The Netherlands   (02.15.07)
North Korea never declared to wipe out any country - countries like South Korea, Japan. The difference with Iran is that Iran HAS declared "to wipe Israel from the face of the earth". So the case with Iran is a very, very grave case. Iran can have nuclear energy - but Iran should NOT be allowed to have facilities which enrich uranium. Although the 5 countries USA, Russia, China, Japan and South Korea could afford to play a game with North Korea - this approach should NOT be applied toward Iran !!! Why NOT ? Because Iran has declared "to wipe Israel from the face of the earth". This is NO childish talk !!! SO, Iran should be brought to its knees !!! We can NOT allow Iran to be able to manufacture nuclear bombs !!! So, those uranium enrichment facilities in Iran should be bombed and destroyed. BTW America should NOT use Nuclear Bombs against Iran.
15. extortion
Kathy ,   Orlando, Fl   (02.15.07)
Everyone thinks that 11/06 election was handed over to the democrats because of the war in Iraq. Not true; bottom line is American's are sick and tired of third-world countries sucking us dry for money. People hate us; fine, damned if we do, damned if we don't. We are pissed.

Another one brainwashed by the drive-by media and hollywood elite.
17. Iran
kathy ,   orlando   (02.15.07)
They want money from the U. S. in return for giving up the nukes. Bottom line is extortion. They can't seem to run their country properly, so they play the "political correctness game" and hide behind the cloak of religion. In return, they make a living out of making threats to the U. S.

60 days. If your rather insightful analysis is correct then these are potential periods of an attack. Secular "hawks" in the US and Israeli side might see some poetic justice in attacking in these seasons, given their significance (redemption of the Jewish people). "Religious" hawks on both sides might also back these dates b'cos of the religious significance and b'cos of their "certainty" of victory. Also it is interesting to note that the only "loose canon" in your analysis is Lebanon and hizbull. But note that recently Israel began measures (or said it would begin measures) to reinforce the north. Infiltration of enemy fighters is perhaps the biggest threat from Iran. It is also interesting to note that Iraq has begun measures to close its borders with Iran and Syria (to keep out infiltrators from Iran?). I fundamentally disagree with the "religious" hawks (and especially with American ones). And I would rather there was no conflict at all, at least until after shavuoth which falls after the 60 day period, but preferably indefinitely. But being an extremist myself the possibility of the "true Jewish redemption" coming (as collateral) out of this (IMHO misguided) "adventure" does sound appealing albeit challenging. Respectfully
21. USA pays only 25% of the ransom
Damir ,   Russia   (02.15.07)
The rest goes to Russia, China and South Korea. Why then we hear about "superpowers folding" only from US? And don't give me any crap about Russia has already folded. If we wanted we might bomb Koreans into oblivion. But what would be the profit of that? A nuclear waste near our borders first. So we shouldn't. So look at it like that US participated in a succesful international political affair which will benefit to all who took part. And I think mostly South Koreans who have relatives in North and vice versa. Kim Ir Senh is a little b*st*rd but managed to hold in hostages the people of whole his country. He got what he wanted but no good will come to him of that. Remember: ultimate weapon of Cold War was Pepsi-Cola (Coca was not allowed in USSR). So question remains: what is that Iranians (and Ahmadinejad of theirs) really want?
22. Orly Azoulay delivers the truth.
Richard Beasely ,   Cambridge, MA   (02.16.07)
Orly Azoulay delivers the truth. If the Bush administration could analyze their way out of a paper bag, they would realize that the key to resolving international conflict is negotiation, not intimidation. Their scare tactics and machoism backfired on them, and as Azoulay pointed out, now they not only have to negotiate -- they also have to pay. Looks like the rest of the world learned the American way.
23. Israel must deal with Iran alone
Chaim   (02.23.07)
One thing is certain. The mad Mullahs of Iran will soon have nuclear bombs. It is far from certain that America will take military action to stop Iran. Since Israel will be Iran's first (but not only) target, it is up to ISrael to stop Iran. In fact, a credible Israeli threat to neutralize Iran may prompt strong American action. Such action is risky, but inaction is infinitely more risky. It's far better to take on Iran today than a nuclear Iran tomorrow.
