1. Iran's jets wont even leave the ground
RA   (02.15.07)
If there is a military confrontation between Israel and Iran, it is highly unlikely any Iranian jets will make it into the air.
2. Jets
jan ,   usa   (02.14.07)
Let's not forget that Israeli jets can fly the same distance more than once in one day and are much better pilots than these useless persians.
3. don`t under-estimate the IRFA....
not a jew   (02.14.07)
i konw many anti-iranians here would quickly jump the band wagon and start dissing the IRAF, but i would beg to differ. read up their history. they are among the best trained and have used their expeties in the 8 year war with iraq. IAF is very good also, but that doesn`t mean they`re the only ones! they`ve already done some of the most spectacular long range attack scenrios duting the war with Iraq.
4. Lets drop olmert onto Iran he will destroy the place
zionist forever   (02.15.07)
The solution to the Iranian conflict ... send a couple of F16s and drop Olmert, Peretz, Livni and Peres onto Iran. Within hours the whole country will be in chaos and Ahmajihidad will be calling up Israel saying we plan to disarm entire country and we will also give all our oil profits to Israel. Maybe they could be exchanged for Ahmajihidad let him come to Israel he will tell the palestans and Syria what they can go do with themselves with his tough talk maybe threaten to nuke them if they dare attack Israel.
5. Israel is the Problem
NeoConJon ,   New York, USA   (02.15.07)
Look and see all the Talk of war and attacking of other nations comes from the Zionist State... Who really wants peace? Not Israel, they don't know who they are if they are not killing other people.
6. why speculate
alan ,   frisco   (02.15.07)
Just follow the advice of the former head of the Mossad perhaps some strategically placed LSD or a vertigo inducing drug
7. #3
hawri   (02.15.07)
I am sure they are pretty good, but pilots can only do what their technology allows. And honestly Iran air force wouldn't stand even Saudi Arabia's.
8. Let us not let our guard down
Joe ,   USA   (02.15.07)
Talk softly...But carry a big stick. Iran knows better than bully a stronger rival
9. atari vs. wii
daniel ,   guatemala   (02.15.07)
10. Not at the top of the target list?
Brod ,   USA   (02.15.07)
That is exactly what the Intelligence told Golda Meir's government prior to the 1973 Yom Kippur War. Lo and behold, Israel was caught unprepared when the combined armies of Egypt and Syria converged on Israel on the Day of Yom Kippur. Never repeat this mistake again and make Israel suffer the consequences of not being prepared.
11. "not a jew"
Shir ,   Helsinki, Finland   (02.15.07)
Answer me one question please; Why wasn´t Iran able to beat Iraq during these eight years of war? Israel has got one of the most powerful military forces in the World. Only an ignorant fool would even compare powerful states like Israel to some like Iran. Economically speaking, Israel´s GDP (nominal, per capita) is $18,726.78 per capita, which is not the best in thw world, but lets look at Iran: $2,392.15. They brag about a lot of things, but what do they really have.
12. What you write is exactly hezbullah want!
kaveh ,   canada   (02.15.07)
I do not think that they want really to attack Israel, however they can not. Iranians do not have a bad feeling about israel and jews. Take care all these articles are translated one by one in Iranian newspapers daily and on the first pages. I think we are the only ones in the world that do have any bad memory from Israel. You are creating hatred between them. Who you are helping, is only the hezbullah, because you are doing what they want.
13. to number 3
Josh   (02.15.07)
I agree that underestimating is never a good idea. But... honestly, the Iranian airforce wouldn't make it to Israel if IAF intercepted them. And trust me, they can't get by the IAF, NO CHANCE. You should read up on what it takes to be allowed to join the IAF. The new technology combined with the Israeli pilots, NO, the Iranian air force would not stand a chance.
14. #4 i almost laughted
(02.15.07)
but only almost!
15. israel is NOT on the top of the list?
ciara ,   australia   (02.15.07)
come on... even if i was a dumb mute and living in a cave like osama for the past 15 years I would still not believe that conclusion... Israel is the only target on Ahmadinejad's list.
16. Not enough for a puppy fight let alone dog fight
Umm El Kul Naqba   (02.15.07)
This should be the world's shortest fight. Can't wait to see it.
17. # 3: don’t compare Israel air force with Iraq
e,m ,   s.f   (02.15.07)
Beside there is not any air force in entire world will compete with Israelis air force Even the American have admitted that If you don’t believe me read the history of Israelis air force since 1948 till now Iranian air force is nothing then bluff
18. Iran's War Planes
Rick S. ,   L.A.   (02.15.07)
I sure hope that Israel is not burrying it's head in the sand. The Iranians are a serious threat and they are commited to their cause.
19. #3 WHEN IT STARTS, IRAN GOING DOWN BIG TIME, IRAQ WAS NOTHIN

20. Use Those 5,000 Cruise and Bunker Busters
Dave Levy ,   Burbank. USA   (02.15.07)
Israel should include among it's targets in Iran, in addition to the obvious nuclear sites, Tehran itself, and Revolutionary Guard military posts, most especailly large troop concentrations. That said, I agree that no Iranian plane should be allowed to get off the ground. A pre-emptive attack on Iran's 3 sites must include all airforce bases, housing these Commie planes. A squadron or two of American B-1s, would also be of help, besides the hundreds of Phantom 2,000 state of the art jets that Israel has, (and F15s, F16). As far as Hezbollah, they are to be wasted in any such warfare...no mercy this time, Israel should use it's clusters and bunker busters no matter what Condi thinks. She, is history to a lame duck Presdient who is blinking too often as of late. Iran should understand the consequences of using these planes of the 80s.
21. Does Israel even have an airforce? Oh yes its called USAF!!!
Harry ,   Kansas   (02.15.07)
22. To #21
Tom ,   BSAS,ARGENTINA   (02.15.07)
SEE THIS: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Israel_Air_Force Even the USAF admitted that IAF was one of the best, if not the best. It´s a pity you see Israel like a puppet of USA. You are SOOO MISTAKEN. No matter the economicallly or military aid, ISRAEL was there EVEN BEFORE American help. Long Live Israel
23. #9 Funniest comment every on Ynet! lol
RA   (02.15.07)
24. Propagandastaffel !
Hiram ,   tel aviv   (02.15.07)
A couple of pictures, a lot of internal problems ! The Iranian air force has an extremely limited capability in terms of long and medium range operation. The key issue is the maintenance program of their equipment. The "foreign experts" guiding the "locals " in maintaining flight capability are now scarce, and over half of the military fleet is only for show on the ground. Not talking about the Iranian pilots ( those who are left that is ....)
25. With as much money as Iran has to blow
Steven Wilson ,   Anchorage, Alaska   (02.15.07)
They could outfit a crappy oil tanker with a launcher for some of their planes. Sail the ship right into the Med or Red Sea and launch a plane with a Nuclear weapon. When Israeli aircraft get close enough for an intercept touch off the nuke. Most of the electronic traffic will be fried. All they have to do is send up another armed plane with a nuclear payload and more than likely it will walk right in to Israel with no interferrence. They could disguise the Tanker as one headed for Israel and no one would be the wiser. Trojan Horse. They might just use the ship rather than the plane. Badaboom! Israel stole Uranium under the same circumstances disguising a ship. How far fetched an idea can any smart person come up with? Speedboats into Israeli Harbors....Pretty simple..pretty friggen lethal. Badaboom! Never underestimate your enemy. These camel jockeys might even strap a bomb to a camel and walk the damn thing in. Nothing would surprise me. They damn sure don't have to use a missile or an airplane. It's called thinking outside the box. And these terrorist clowns are thinking about it every day, as they get closer to the amount of material they need for some bombs to blow up Israel.
26. #11 Shir
Rick S. ,   L.A.   (02.15.07)
Iran is oil rich and is armed with the latest & deadliest weapons from Russia, China & N. Korea, as well as their own weapons. We must not underestimate their capabilities.

Steve....did you spend your evening having a drink at the Bush Company ? Med movements are monitored by Israel 24 hrs a day. especially now .There is not a single trawler leaving Cyprus to catch fish that is not immediately checked and as you know , the Israeli are not anymore the only one watching the traffic.
