7. Obama
Abir ,   Chicago, IL USA   (02.16.07)
Mr. Barak Hussain (that is his middle name) Obama, has been fortunate enough to be at the right place at the right time on more than one ocassion . That combined with a sloppy Republican campaign, won him a seat in the US Senate from our Great State of Illinois. He also had the opportunity of attending a "Madrassa" (Muslim religious school) for four years in his youth. However, I would question what his achievements have been so far (other than being a Senator for two years)? What has he actually done? Initiated any bills? Driven any major issues? So why does he believe he is qualified to run for office of President of the US? As for being a "strong Israel supporter," I would question how and what has he done so far to prove that, other than preach appeasement to Iran?
8. Obama
JK ,   NYC   (02.16.07)
His middle is Hussein, now you can do the math. I do not trust him, I will not vote for him, ever and will not speak to anyone who would consider voting for a muslim when we are fighting a war against muslims and their murderous religion.
9. wow it is amazing
AnAmerican ,   USA   (02.16.07)
how every candidate needs to get Israel's blessings to be elected. bravo to jews!
10. Barack Hussein Obama
Mark ,   Seattle WA   (02.16.07)
Barack Hussein Obama is a muslim. He is also a marxist. Put those tow things together, and he is no friend of Israel. If American jews are stupid enough to vote for this 5th columnist, they deserve the second Holocaust which will result. Barack Hussein Obama is an enemy of America and Israel, and follows the orders of his arab/muslim masters.
11. Barak Hussein Osama Bin Ladan Saddam
Jeff ,   Cherry Hill, NJ USA   (02.16.07)
Sounds like an enemy to me.
12. Obama you said?
WZK ,   SAN DIEGO   (02.16.07)
A half muslim, educated in a madrasa is a strong supporter of Israel, like most of the blacks in America, right? Those are the lies carried over by de democrats renegade jews. The fith column in America leaded by the networks, cnn and msnbc and supported by the lefties like the traitors Arkin or Falken want us to believe on that crap! Enough it's enough! The left is against Israel, capicci???and the best US administration ever is the current one. The backbone of Eretz are the neocons, the Christian right and Bush and the Republican party. If any leftie moron wants to prove the contrary go ahead...in the meantime wash like millions of americans Fox News!!! Shalom!
13. Obama political mess up
Brod ,   USA   (02.16.07)
If Obama talks about talking with the wolves--Syria and Iran, that is the end of his political life for high office. Being a colored person in White America is already an uphill battle for him. Advocating talking with Islamist-Jihadist fanatics--Syria and Iran is a political sink hole for him. In post 9/11 era, an American politician, who does not know the threat and danger of Islamist-Jihadism-Fascism-Fanaticism, needs to go for further education on this subject. It is better for Obama to drop out from wasting more time and effort on a political campaign that will end in defeat. So are the other Democratic candidates who advocate talking with the wolves. Those who propose simplistic solutions to complex problems cannot be a leader of the world's Super Power.
14. Professor Raphael Israeli
Jon ,   UK   (02.16.07)
is quite correct and most western countries (including the UK) should do the same, however I think it's too late.
15. a friend of israel in the carter mode? in the clinton mode?
aaron ,   ra'anana   (02.16.07)
look where they got us...
16. interesting observation by Professor Raphael Israeli
Cameron   (02.16.07)
On balance, I believe he is correct. The professor wasn't very PC, but he certainly was honest & blunt. What is the point of allowing large numbers of people to resettle in your country when they make a specific point of rejecting your culture and values? The unending hostility & barbarism of Muslims in the last no. of years is truly forcing the West to rethink the issue of allowing Muslims to settle among them. Australia will save itself from a mountain of trouble & grief by halting a process of welcoming those who have no real desire to be an integral part of their society. 'the road to Hell is paved with good intentions'
17. Beware of wolves in sheeps clothing
cj ,   usa   (02.16.07)
He will be just like Clinton and negotiate with terrorist leaders and virtually give your land away right under your nose, all the while claiming your right to protect yourselves. Why your country has become so dependent on other countries for support instead of Hashem is a BLACK EYE to the G-D you serve.
18. PHONY!!
shmuely ,   cleveland usa   (02.16.07)
Jewish Americans do not be fooled by this phony, pandering, empty suit. He is no friend or defender of Israel. He is an extreme leftist pacifist masquerading as a centrist. How can you in one breath claim to support Israel while also advocating talking to Iran and Syria?? Further, he has no experience and lied about his Muslim upbringing. Why hide it unless theres something omnious? Vote Giuliani, a PROVEN friend of Israel
19. No need to worry, Sorros backs him...
Forrest Gump ,   Bubbaland   (02.16.07)
"As for the U.S. 2008 presidential race, Mr. Soros, who gave $18 million to Democratic advocacy groups seeking to defeat President Bush in 2004, said he supported Barack Obama." Well with a friend like Soros, Israel need not to worry of Hussein Obama... And yet so many American Jews will support him... We are our worst enemies!
20. Nice to see overt racism among Jewish talkbackers...
Dan ,   New York, NY   (02.16.07)
Sad, especially considering Jews know all to well from history and experience how one can be discriminated against based on their name.
21. you are all racist.
Justin ,   US   (02.16.07)
First of all we don’t care if he Muslim or not, and second what the hick Israel has to do with our election? You guys bunch of racist Zionist.
22. We are 25% of world ... and growing .. Tough luck Raphael
Soothesayer ,   Sydney, Australia   (02.16.07)
23. first response when your spy falls "a fabricated allegation"
(02.16.07)
24. To misguided #9 (AnAmerican)
Mario ,   USA   (02.17.07)
Why do people like you insist that there is a global Jewish/Zionist/israeli conspiracy to rule the world? If Obama really wanted to get $$$, he would support oil-rich Muslim countries. Maybe he actually has a conscience and feels that Israel isn't as nasty as you would believe. Jews make up 1% of the US and 0.2% of the world. Do the math. Quit complaining of a conspiracy. If he supported the Palestianians would your post have been "how every candidate needs to get Palestine's blessings to be elected. bravo to muslims!" ? People are entitled to side with Israel without being labelled as brainwashed or dupes of the Conspiracy.
25. To laughable Justin and other race-mongers
Mario ,   USA   (02.17.07)
What you said was really ignorant. People don't want to vote for a guy who attended a madrassah. And how is that racist? Last time I looked, Islam isn't a race. Obama's father was African. I haven't seen any mention of this on talkback, so by definition, the anti-Obama crowd isn't racist. Hooray for logic!
26. Notes on Obama and Prof. Israeli
Raymond from DC ,   Washington, DC USA   (02.16.07)
In last week's 60 Minutes interview with Obama, he was asked about the race issue, about his past drug use, but not a word about his Muslim background. Considering the struggle against political/radical/fundamentalist/jihadist Islam, it's fair to ask where he might take us. If he were asked, for example, where he stands on the "clash of civilizations" issue, or which Muslim organizations he thinks are moderate, which are threats, it would tell us a lot about his judgement and sympathies. But with a paper-thin record of accomplishments, a long list of votes in the Illinois legislature to which he answered "present", rather than yes or no, and no leadership experience, why would we put the leadership of the free world in his hands? I'll second Shmuely's support for Giuliani. Best of the bunch so far. Re Professor Israeli, he is absolutely right. The AIJAC have their politically correct heads in the (outback) sand. Nations opening their doors to immigration from Muslim lands will eventually confront the reality of an unassimilated critical mass, radicalized by an assertive, intolerant leadership. Witness what happened recently with the Khilafa (Califate) Conference which took place in the environs of Sydney. Scary stuff.
27. Obama is a creation of the media
Tracy W   (02.17.07)
How many major magazine covers has this junior senator been already on? Four or five, I think. What is his track record? Extremely short. His past? Not too well known. They particulary glossed over his Muslim education. Obama hasn't been asked the hard questions yet, and I hope someone does. Like, for example, what does he mean by "support for Israel"? What kind of Israel does he envision? Specifically? How much does he actually know about Middle Eastern history and politics? It's possible that the liberal media will continue to give him an easy ride. A guy doesn't have to have much depth to be president, as it has been proven again and again. All he needs is to be likable, electable, and malleable by the powers behind the throne.
28. obama
ali ,   cleveland   (02.16.07)
the ME issues is increasingly becoming a middle east matter .. America has its own problems .. Ramallah is closer that DC,Mr Olmert needs to start talking if he wants to stay in that neighberhood . ....and it is an eye for an eye for the palestinians you kill my son ,your son is gone .......Obama can say what pleases him ...he will barely gets through Iowa.
29. #9 "an American"
SAM ,   USA   (02.16.07)
Maybe if you actually could read a book you would figure this out. The stereotype is that Jews, as a community in the USA, have the highest voting percentage. That is why politicians kiss Jewish ass, fool. When New York was like 25% Jewish and harbored a lot of electoral votes, the Jewish vote was extremly important. By the way, the Jewish attitude toward Isreal is diverse and not always supportive of Israel. This ploy may not have any effect at all. Jimmy Carter, one of our worst presidents, was allegedly a supporter of Israel. If not for Reagan, Carter on a second term would have had a red tag sale on all our allies. Obama may be another Carter. He hasn't shown anything in his history. Maybe that is why he is courting the Jewish vote- in his mind
30. PARADE OF MORONS
David ,   New York   (02.17.07)
This talkback column reads like the remedial class. Idiots repeating the LIE that Obama went to a madrassa. Morons complaining about his middle name. How about his first name? A hebrew name. By the same logic that should make you support him.
