Steven ,   San Francisco   (02.17.07)
and not to try to do too much at the behest of the boy president.
2. tri-lateral meeting
(02.17.07)
This meeting should be held outdoors in Sederot.
3. two-state solution
(02.17.07)
death trap never accept this
4. It's not their homeland !
Ben Temalion ,   Shiloh, MO USA   (02.17.07)
Principles they are expressing here is meant only to further endanger the Jewish land and legitimize their mass-murderers. That "palestinian" is a historically vacuous name for a people is irrelevant to them. The use of terms to legitimize the destruction of the ancient homeland of the Jews is all that matters and so they repeat it. The contrived nationalism for a mythical people did not exit when Egypt an dJordan illegally controlled lands that would be their long missed state. Their longing for a homeland is satisfied already if only in the ancient, homicidal hamite peninsular homeland of their own name. If not the other 21 arab state they colonized with fear, extortion and terror.
5. The two-state solution has already been implemented
Mike Jefferson ,   Washington D.C.   (02.17.07)
It's Jordan & Israel. The Arabs control 98 % of the Middle East and virtually 100 % of the resources. Leave the Jews alone. Just because they managed to re-build their society into one which embraces human rights and pluralism and has an economy on par with a European country while thr Arabs are still living in the 7th century doesn't mean that the Arabs have a right to spread murderand mayhem.
6. to # 1, you need serious help, ask for it
Simon Mohammed ,   Falls Church VA USA   (02.17.07)
7. Two states = Israel + Terroristan
Uzi ,   Haifa   (02.17.07)
8. Tried and died
Reality Check ,   BaGolan   (02.17.07)
The Palestinians have proven repeatedly, and yet again now, that they have neither a wish for peace and coexistence nor a desire for cooperation. They are seasoned in mass murder anarchy and genocidal tendencies. If we are to attempt yet again a 'two-state' scenario, why not close off the Palestinian areas and lets first see how they survive on their own. Can anyone say "Iraq" or "Lebanon" Palestinian Style. KABOOOOM
9. to # 6 You should go back home too....
rich ,   da bronx usa   (02.17.07)
...Oh I forgot you suppossedly dont have a home. although you could have had a home many times since 1948 but that so called leader arafat basically screwed up your chances in 2000 although he never actually told your brethren that Israel was about to give up nearly everything in exchange for peace...At least he didnt say the truth in arabic. He basically said it on good morning america so no one back in west bank & gaza would know. Its time for your arab leaders to stop living in a fantasy world and try to make some sort of a 21st century country state in gaza which you now control instead of waiting for all of Israel to be destroyed which will never happen.
10. NO - To Two States!
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (02.17.07)
The concept of a two-state solution will NOT work for any number of reasons, to wit, but a few: 1. Not enough land. We are too close to the Arabs and we would be on top of each other. "Two states" could work if the Arabs were, say in China, not around the corner. 2. The Arabs will not let it be successful. They are convinced that we are foreigners in this part of the world and have no right to live here. Regardless of what they may say, this is what they really believe. 3. Mistrust. The Arabs cannot be trusted. Regardless of what paper they sign, they will soon find an excuse to go back on it. 4. It will weaken Israel. It will reduce our access to natural resources in the area, and limit our ability to expand and disperse our fast growing population. Let it be clear to Miss Rice: Israel needs this land to survive.
11. #5When you have larg property and when I steal only 2%
Jone ,   Washington, DC   (02.18.07)
It is unfair to aks for this little 2%, you are greedy, you still have the 98% ... unfair!?
12. Palestinian -Israeli options
Sam ,   Canada   (02.18.07)
The two-state solution is one option. Another one is neither Palestinians nor Israelis recognizing each other. Palestinians would take care of their business without irritating Israel and vice versa. In other words, you don't bother me and I don't bother you.
13. No to two states, Yes to one state
zeev geneva ,   geneva switzerland   (02.18.07)
The only solution which can reach peace is one-state-solution with equal rights for all, regardless of their religion, including - the right of the Palestinian refugees to return home, and - the right of the Jews to return to their countries of origin.
14. DONE DEAL
DAVID ,   JUDEA   (02.18.07)
Maybey people should get in their car and drive from anywere in the country to Judea and Shomron and they will see that most border crossings are already in place. This deal was already made between bush and sharon,we were already sold out by our politicians. Also our apathy is to blame for that. So basicily we are in deep trouble and looking at the increasing incitement by arab leaders they sense this too. To pursue western solutions in this very dangerous neighbourhood, is suicidal. And that is exactly what our leaders are with their lack of vision and integrity.
15. to # 9, you are a liar, or Ignorant or a game player
Simon Mohammed ,   Falls Church VA USA   (02.18.07)
with total respect to your opinon
16. Bush and the Republicans have turned against Israel
Monk ,   USA   (02.18.07)
17. 2 state solution-plan for Israel's extermination
Marcel ,   Florida   (02.17.07)
It matters not that Hamas is part of the new Palestinian terrorist government , we are too close to stop with our final solution plan ,we must press on to dismantle Israel piece by peace. Lice Rice
18. Two-State solution is the way to go
YBZ ,   Israel   (02.18.07)
I've always believed in and supported a two-state solution. One called Israel and the otherJordan.
19. how exactly
Shir ,   Helsinki, Finland   (02.18.07)
"It will reduce our access to natural resources in the area. " Please elaborate.
20. Rice refuses to face reality of Arafat's "final solution"
Yacov ,   Ashkelon   (02.18.07)
Rice refuses to face the reality of Arafat's "final solution" for the phased destruction of Israel, which the Arab Pals are still demanding: 1) E. Jerusalem be given to them so Jews can be ethnically cleansed as before 1967. E. Jerusalem will be turned into a terror based to attack the rest of Jerusalem, as on the Gaza model. 2) Pals want Judea and Samaria, again to ethnically cleanse Jews and turn these areas into terror bases from which to attack the rest of Israel, as on the the Gaza model 3) Allow millions of Arabs to fraudulently "return" to Israel and flood Israel with Muslims, thus destroying Israel and turning it into the 23rd member of the Arab League and 58th member of the Organization of the Islamic Conference. Rice may have been an expert on Russia, but still knows nothing about Middle East politics and Arab aspirations to destroy Israel.
21. One state
christa ,   Near Monaco   (02.18.07)
I belueve in one state on the model of Switzerland where Jews, Muslims and Christians would have equal rights. It is the only way for Jews to suceed in their integration into the Middle East. Otherwise, the state of war will remain, and history has shown that it cannot last for centuries.
22. Rice is going along with the Saudi Plan...
Nannette ,   London, UK   (02.18.07)
The latest "peace" Saudi plan doesn't recognise any previous "peace" agreements with Israel and nor does it call for stopping any attacks against Israel. Rice is therefore supporting the proposed genocide of Jews, as stated in the PLO and Hamas Charters.
23. JUST LIKE THE NORTHERN UNION AND THE SOUTHERN CONFEDERACY!
stude ham   (02.18.07)
Not too long ago... Remember that one Rice?
24. right to exist
HISHAM ,   PALESTINE   (02.18.07)
Why does the Israeli government make such a song and dance about their "right to exist"? Governments recognise other states` governments when they are in effective control of their territory, that`s all there is to it. France, the USA and China don`t go about demanding that their "right to exist" is acknowledged by the rest of the world. Israel exists. This fact is recognised by every country in the world, and also by Hamas and the PA. This whole "right to exist" is an Israeli device to make peace unachievable by rubbing the Palestinians` noses in the Naqba of 1948 and demanding that they say that they really like the smell of defeat.
25. WHY MUST PALESTINE RECOGNIZE ISRAEL?
DemocracyRules ,   Canada   (02.18.07)
I'm not sure if Canada has recognized Tonga -- but does it matter? Instead, both sides must recognize Palestine, as a separate, independent nation, so set new borders, and move people. Then they can ignore Israel, or not, they will be autonomous, and Israel can defend itself, if necessary. I know both sides hate this, but there is no other workable way forward.
26. #10 NO to two States
Brod ,   USA   (02.18.07)
You are right. Your arguments are excellent. The two-state solution is not a solution but a recipe for disaster for Israel that will lead to another War. The dark forces headed by the Saudis have been manipulating the West to do their dirty work of making Israel absorb their problem. The Arab countries have vast expanse of land that stretches from Dubai all the way to Morocco. They could easily absorb their fellow Arabs encroaching in Israel's biblical and historic homeland of Judea and Samaria. However, they refuse to even help their own people. Instead they want the world to clean up their own mess at Israel's expense. It is time Israel, America and the West tell the Arab countries to clean up their own mess and absorb their own people encroaching in Israel, instead of dreaming of destroying and occupying Israel. Israel has a choice to say NO to the proposal. Israel does not need to succumb to any external threats and pressures that are detrimental to Israel's existence and national security interests.
27. Hisham- Israel's right to exist
Sam ,   Canada   (02.18.07)
Israel wants it to be clear that its existence as a Jewish -majority country is not in question. Negotiations with Palestinians will in no case lead to the end of Israel with a Jewish majority. In every Talkback where I question Palestinians if they accept this, there is complete silence. What do you say Hisham? Or will you be silent too?
28. Hey, 23--
(02.18.07)
I think the result of that war was a unification of the north and the south, with people of the south becoming US citizens. Are you SURE that's a model you want Israel to adopt?
29. Rice and two state option
shanatova ,   australia   (02.18.07)
One of the talk backs said that Condolezza Rice was going along with the Saudi plan. Well, it was the US Government that "spin doctored" the Saudi kingdom, the first Saudi prince and the state of Saudi Arabia, all because of the American oil cartels. It was the plan of the US government of the time to ensure that the Arabs became allies and so, where there was no real kingdom, just like Disneyland, a kingdom was manufactured, and just like the story of Aladdin, so a Saudi Prince was manufactured, and today the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is where it is all because of the United States of America. shanatova
30. All the good speeches
David L.   (02.18.07)
Of course the key is a two-state solution. The only other option is that either all the 6 millions Jews or the 4 millions Muslims leave. Can someone here explain me how they will go about doing that? No, of course. So two-state solution is key. Good. Now, peole have been repeating that for over 12 years now, and absolutely nothing has been done about it. The problem is not to undertand that two-state solution is the key, it's: a) what it means in practice and b) how we will achieve that. Sharon had the idea that he could build the wall and then unilaterally withdraw. Error. The only viable solution WILL BE NEGOCIATED, or the conflict will never be definitely settled. So it would be about time now that Palestinians and Israelis sit on each side of a large table and decide that no one gets up until they solve their problem once and for all. The sooner, the better. Because the only difference between now and then will be the number of body bags to be filled. Honestly, who wants that?
