2. Pulling the purse strings.
Colin ,   Barcelona   (02.21.07)
Gaydamark coordinates with Netanyahu for a Social Justice movement?? Netanyahu's economic policy was predicted to cause suffering for the poor and so it did. It is a fact that the 'healthy' economy has only benifited the top, rich 20% of the population. The rich and poor divide has widened dramatically. Aligning with Natanyahu, Gaydamak's intentions make no sense other than placing a bet on the next leader of the country and winning unprecidented behind the scenes influence with a billionaire pulling the purse strings. Israel be warned!
3. just what we need
Michael ,   Haifa   (02.21.07)
money-laundered social justice
4. Russian tycoons & Israeli politics sexy!
Cameron ,   USA   (02.21.07)
5. Gaydamak & Leftist Politicians
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (02.21.07)
The Leftist politicians from Labour & Meretz are knocking Gadaymak. That's very funny. They're just worried about losing their own jobs. If we had a Meretz gov't. we'd be living in Palestine. And if we had a Labour gov't. we'd be bankrupt. I have no idea what Gaydamak's party will stand for or who it's members will be. But can anyone seriously believe it can be worse than the current bunch of self-interested & self-serving parasites now in power?
6. Gaydamak must have political-security platform
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (02.21.07)
"Social" and "economic" justice can not be separated from national security. Gaydamak should bring Natan Sharansky back to public life to lead national security if he feels that he is not capable.
7. Re #5: Leaders are tested by the Jewish people
Steve ,   USA   (02.21.07)
B"H Look, if Moses found the Jewish people a challenge to lead, and he was our highest profit, certainly every leader finds the Jewish people a challenge to lead. That is what makes the challenge exciting. It is a true test of leadership abilities. I have no idea if he is worse or better. A few acts of chessid are a good starting point but are on a totatly different plane than leadership of an entire people. I personally think that rather than jumping for the full pie, getting experience will help. That is my half sheckel on the issue.
8. WE DON'T KNOW HOW TO ACCEPT GAYDEMAK.
ISAAC RUBIN ,   ISRAEL   (02.21.07)
We can't accept that a politician can want to work for our benefit instead of his own. We have not seen a leader like this since Manachem Begin. We are used to politicians talking of social issues before elections and selling the workers out afterwards. I ask myself why Mr Gaydemak needs this? Does he need the press to hound him day and night. Arcadi will suceed because we the Israelies do not know who to vote for. The two traditional big parties do not represent us and small parties have no real power to do good they only have the power to line their pockets. Last elections we voted for "none of the above" and got a paralised goverment. I hope that the Israeli voter will give Mr Gaydemak and Bibi a chance to help us and the press will let them work.
9. for sderot alone, gaydamak deserves our respect

it looks like a non issue to me.let the guy show us what hes got. if hes a magician well know ,if hes a politician well know by his magic . they way things are going the truth is lost anyways, give it a try. if there is one thing about free societies that works its weedn out the wheat from the chaf. but i might be an ideolgist.
13. Not bad looking, though dangerous
Mary ,   USA   (02.22.07)
14. Much better than Olmert/Peres/Peretz
Lolla ,   Atlanta   (02.22.07)
He looks much better than these 3 individuals, much smarter, and he is using his money while the othe guys use money from criminal individuals from US and other places. Clearly, Kadima people are in Kadima for money and jobs for the families. As one their people said, "we don't have ideology". As to extreme left, like Beilin and Peace Now, they get money from enemies of Israel.
15. Experiments can be costly
David H   (02.22.07)
Where are the good men/women with decent track records, trusworthy and patriotic? This is a crucial time for Israel. It can't risk any more of its security for the sake of giving someone a chance. And someone just better than the present PM is not good enough. Anyone is better than the present PM. Israel deserves the best. Israel needs someone with courage to defend the land and stand up to the Americans, the Europeans and the Arabs. Someone with a clean past, so that he can't be manipulated by the courts.
16. Uhh.........Nope.
Mary ,   USA   (02.22.07)
Be careful, this guy is out to tear apart the Lion with his sword.
17. what's his position on iran?
debra ,   usa   (02.22.07)
that should be his #1 concern. it's not a good sign that omitted talking about it in his first public announcement re his new party.
18. Can he speak Hebrew yet?
Arcadi ,   Moscow   (02.22.07)
19. Go FOR IT ARCADY !!!!
malcolm   (02.22.07)
20. Shades of Flatto-Sharon....................
NS ,   Long Island, NY   (02.22.07)
In the 1980's there was a French Jewish millionaire named Shmuel Flatto who left France in a real hurry. It seems that he was in trouble with the French Authorities and decided that he found his Jewish identity and came to Israel. In order to avoid extradition he ran (bought his way) for the Knesset and won. The only difference between this guy and Gaydamak is that the former speaks French and the latter speaks Russian. But because Gaydamak is a billionaire his ability to corrupt the system is even larger than Mr. Flatto-Sharon. I hope the Israeli public is smarter is that. However, I am not optimistic.
21. Ran Cohen - If you examine history
rh ,   Israel   (02.22.07)
You will find that liberalising economies, improving efficiency and reducing taxes has decreased poverty. Whereas Marxist agendas such as Meretz's have caused much pain and suffering to the poor..
22. ISRAELI GOV' T NEEDS A SERIOUS SHAKE UP !!
RCA ,   USA   (02.22.07)
Sometimes positive results come from sources of the least expectation. In the US, we have had movie stars serve in gov't with great results. It appears that many times all that is needed is some "new blood" to shake things up and get done what is necessary. People who are successes in their own right, that don't need a gov't position, can often bring much needed know-how. Gaydamak may have much to contribute.
23. Arcady Gaydamak is GOOD NEWS for Israeli politics!!
Marcell ,   Israel   (02.22.07)
24. #11 Jellybean
Zaphod ,   Pluto   (02.22.07)
You are a sad, frightening and pathetic individual!
25. Gaydamak has the money but Netanyahu is behind it.
Just realistic ,   Tel Aviv   (02.22.07)
Why always have a go at Gaydamak? He probably does want to do something good. The problem is Netanyahu - who is keeping fairly quiet. He's the one making the promises behind the scenes and has been working on this for a while now. He knows he can't make Prime MInister again without a hook - and Gaydamak is his hook. At the end of the day, dear Benny just wants to be PM again - after his last failed attempt and let's face it - the outside world is not particularly warm to him. He was the rabble rouser that literally set the stage for Rabin's assassination , the Arabs don't trust him further than they can throw him and neither should we. A politician never changes its spots! He was reasonable in Finance and should have stayed there if he really wanted to pull the purse strings and help the poor!
26. Good luck
Michael   (02.22.07)
27. reponse to #18
Michael   (02.22.07)
Olmert speaks Hebrew but he lacks intelligence. So what if he doesn'r know Hebrew. If he grew up in Israel and didn't know the language, then it indicates a problem. However, that is not the situation. Furthermore, what is funny, If you speak hebrew the public will allow you to give away half the country for nothing. But, if you can't speak hebrew the public won't let you do anything as a Prime Minister. It's seems to me, their is a misplaced set of priorities, in regards to., Nationalism.
28. #11 do you have anything intelligent to say?!
Michael   (02.22.07)
29. Arcadi
Noemi ,   Israel   (02.22.07)
