1. Assad is bluffing
zionist forever   (02.23.07)
Assad is playing poker He has no intention on starting a war but with help from Amajinidad he upgrades his outdated army and moves them closer to the border. He wants to scare Israel into thinking if we dont do a deal with Assad now that involves giving up the Golan then Assad might attack us and try and take it by force .. Assad knows he wouldnt stand a chance and starting and loosing a war would only lead to Syria being humiliated and overthrown at home. Israel keeping the Golan and having no formal peace with Syria is a better option than handing it over just for the sake of Assads signature.
2. they said same thing in 73
haim ,   mtl canada   (02.23.07)

3. Wake up People
Ali ,   Lebanon   (02.23.07)
" Hizbullah's attempts to rehabilitate following the war. " ....... There are no attempts...Hezbollah now is even readier than before...This was declard by Sayed Nasrallah which u all I guess beleive more than Olmert. Regarding Syria, don't worry, they will never do anything no matter what Israel do...However, if they don't react Hezbollah would...So my advice to ur government, don't fool around....Sonner or later the prisoner exchange will take place.
4. They Mean It's Not Predictable.
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (02.23.07)
Intellegence assessments are educated guesses. We don't know the internal reasons behind a Syrian decision to provoke an incident that could result in war. The inner workings of Syria's regime is opaque, as it is in all repressive dictatorships - and to a certain extent, in all gov'ts. But experts don't like to say that they just don't know.
5. Same thing was said about Lebanon!

6. Ashmurah

Did you ever have a bad reccuring dream, which did not go away until you told or warned someone....no matter how much a fruitcake people might think you are? But people never listen, anyway? """""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""" When the belly of Ashmurah is sick and Asniri comes, you will know this time. """"""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""" Please do not underestimate this time.
7. REMEMBER 1973 ? AMAN IS ZERO

8. OH REALLY ?????
rich ,   new york USA   (02.23.07)
I dont think Assad is just taking a test drive of his tanks and missles or showing them off like its a gargae sale on a sunday morning. Remember 1973...they said theres no indication of an attack them too..... Just be prepared this time. Dont assume anything Always EXPECT The UNEXPECTED!!!....GO IDF!!!! Untie your hands. Get rid of Olmert. Vote Lieberman or Effie.
9. Peretz: if Labor elect me, peace will come
Itzik ,   Haifa   (02.23.07)
This was composed by Peretz but I sure that even Peretz does not believe a word of this report.
10. Do not bypass the obvious
Reality Check ,   BaGolan   (02.23.07)
We have been misled before as the Services succumb to the pressure exerted by Olmert and Peretz to appease the islamofascist terrorists. I Asssad continues to be belicose, take him at his word and strike. Let him then complain he was only kidding (isn't that what Nazirallah did?)
11. YUP! JUST LIKE IN THE GOLD OLD DAYS OF OCTOBER 1973!!!

13. Irregular Incident?
Martin ,   Philadelphia, PA USA   (02.23.07)
IDF intelligence said "any irregular incident might bring an escalation of terror activity in Gaza". "Irregular incident" caused by whom? Fatah and Hamas have come to an agreement so any terrorist act against Israel would not be in their best interest: for now they seem content to stand united and accept the consequences due them from the international community. The intelligence assessment is ominous because of its vagueness. It suggests actions the PA and Islamic world at large could accuse Israel of committing. They have worked themselves into a "win/win" situation: whatever occurs can be manipulated by them in their favor. Whatever casualties they suffer will be civilian and reported by the as media being "innocent bystanders " or "collateral damage". Israel can not suffer another military fiasco like Lebanon. Whatever is undertaken must be done precisely and with verifiable just cause. Otherwise global anti-Israel sentiment will increase, despite whatever support government leaders will espouse. And those same governments will eventually have to their citizens' sentiments with policies that will not benefit Israel.

15. I think we are in Trouble
Sam WEinstein   (02.23.07)
I always said Peretz is blind and does not know what he is doing. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,254038,00.html
16. Same as 73
Sam Weinstein ,   USA   (02.23.07)
Yep same thing was said no war brings back the memories. We knew the attack was coming then but did nothing could this be a repeat??
17. There's one word missing
eh-oop ,   UK   (02.23.07)
....from the headline, and it comes after "Syria". That word is "alone". The great thing about the UN's success in neutralising Hezbollah is that it really does manage to keep Syria isolated from its partner in crime. Sorry, nearly forgot. The godfather's in Iran, so it's good we have such a determined and unified international community, an A Team inspectorate and enough hot air talked to melt any Iranian missile into its launcher. Now that will keep Syria well and truly alone, as it were. Ain't it wonderful the way things work.
18. #15 Thanks for the news story link
Joe ,   Ohio, USA   (02.23.07)
Wo hoo what a shot! Forgetting to take the lens caps off your binoculars and being too stupid to admit you got a problem and at least ask for help!? No wonder Israelis want this group out of office.
19. "Conflict with Syria unlikely, intelligence officials says"
Gelman ,   USA   (02.23.07)
Why would the IDF even make public such an announcment? It seems to me that this could only give the enemy the wrong signal and could prove highly embarassing should it later prove to be wrong. really, what's the upside for releasing this statement?
20. Do rabbits squeeze their enemys to death RIGHT ???
M. Segal ,   Mpls America   (02.24.07)
No need to remind us that the security fence up on the West Bank and transit gates in to and from Gaza continue to escalate things thus war with Syria may be improbible simple squeeze strategy for Egypt Syria Iran etc to use to squeeze Israel to death the old extinction theory 6 million Jews face 1.5 Billion muslims RIGHT unless Syria Assad wanna throw a monkey wrench in to this mess RIGHT ??? THANK YOU... M. Segal
21. To # 19
John ,   USA   (02.24.07)
The upside? This is what I can see; 1) They honestly believe this, but will later prove to be not correct. However, after Iran has to be dealt with, they will be forced to make a Premptive strike on Syria...but by then it will be too late, because the person / thing named "Asniri" will already have come, and Israel will be in a Chaotic state.
