sorry to burst your bubble mate. i am indeed Iranian born after the revolution and raised under the Islamic Republic of Iran. we Iranians, especially the ones that grew up Iran after the revolution, saw every human rights abuse, every crime imaginable committed under the name of Islam to us and our country and its national interest. i`m sorry, but Islam has not been very kind to us. economy destroyed, unemployment through the roof, addiction wide spread, human rights banned, all of our oil money spent on Hezbollah and plans to kill the "Zionist". the constitution of the Islamic Republic is based on destruction of Israel and the infidel west. now you tell me, is this the way to live a happy prosperous life?

I doubt Israel has the physical capability to launch a pre emptive strike the way it did in 1981 when Saddam had only 1 neuclear site and there was the ellement of surprise. Iran has leaarned from Saddams mistakes and has spread their more advanced neuclear sites around and in underground bunkers there is also no element of surprise in this case and Iran unlike Iraq has missles capable of hitting Israel only the US can pull thiss off. The good news though is countries who dont recognise Israel are ready to support it to fight common enemy. Coalitions have a much more succesfull chaance of leading to real peace than land for peace does. Egypt & Jordan arab states both worry about the Iranian threat and they are supposed to have made peace with Israel based on the land for peace ideas but they are not offering even politcal support. Pakistan, Kuwait, UAE, Afghanistan and Oman all official enemy states are all offering support of some kind.

Iran does have modern air defenses allthough these can be beaten if pilot skill and avionics are good enough and its F14s are over 20 years old and there are limited spare parts the majority of their jets are older MIGS and an Iranian made jet based on the F5. It certainly wont be as simple as in 1981 and its doubtfull that even Israels newest F16s can pull it off because they have no stealth capability and they are no heavy bomberss unlike the US B2. A coalition of Gulf States and a countryr like Turkey would increasee chances of success but its still doubtfull weather Israeal can hit a number of defended underground bunkers without the element of surprise.
