1. Mazuz the Kingpin
malcolm   (02.28.07)
He rules the country with an iron fist. When will he take care of Olmert? That is all that matters at this point in time.
2. How about studying ethics & better public relations?
(02.28.07)
Someone who lies about having earned a university degree is worse than someone who plagerises. The latter is often thrown out of university; the former should be thrown out of public service, especially any leadership position. If the allegations are true, and if Ms. Tartman has any sense of propriety left in her, or if she cares in any way for the well-being of state of Israel and its reputation (domestically and internationally) she will issue a public apology and then immediately resign from the Knesset. Perhaps then she could pursue the degree(s) she claims to have (if, in fact, she never earned them) - maybe she could start with a course or two in basic ethics.
3. Board of director appointments
Mike ,   Atlanta, USA   (02.28.07)
Would executive management have asked her to sit on their boards without these academic credentials?
4. Big deal
AL ,   Cleveland   (02.28.07)
they murdered a whole palestinian nation ,now the AG is going to chocke on a CV ??????????.. you guys are shamless .
5. NOT ANOTHER INVESTIGATION!!
stude ham   (02.28.07)
What's with this government that so many investigations are being launched against its high officers? Their cabinet material is just too incompetent for that kind of sleaze.
6. don't hurt her
(02.28.07)
((cannot serve as a public official who should lead by example)).......... No; a wounded one is the perfect to lead. havn't you heard about "if it bleeds it leads"
7. Tartman's fake degrees
leah amdur ,   Jerusalem Israel   (02.28.07)
There will be a lot of fake degrees flying off a lot of walls around Israel, now that the public knows they can get a 3 to 5 year sentence. Fake degrees have become an ingrained habit in a certain sector of the Israeli population
8. The Tartman scandal
leah amdur ,   Jerusalem Israel   (02.28.07)
Mannie Mazuz must be the busiest attorney general we have ever had. He certainly earns his salary he works day and night and there are more cases for him to handle than hours in a day. Crime certainly pays for those who chase criminals
9. what would Begin and Rabin say about this?
sally forth ,   Jerusalem   (02.28.07)
Both these great leaders would say that Tartman has a moral reason to step down. and more likely than not neither would allow her to serve in their governments. But..... that was then and this is now. She'll probably get to keep her appointment
10. "Making money" from a false CV
Bruno ,   Haifa   (02.28.07)
Being elected to the Knesset is surely a substantial career change, denied to most people, that brings with it financial benefits during one's tenure at the Knesset and for many years afterwards. It is thus impossible to claim that there is no monetary connection to having "remembered" degrees that the lady did not possess.
11. Throw the book at her!!
Chaya ,   Bat Yam, Israel   (02.28.07)
And new allegations have come out this morning against her - that she has been taking money from Bituach Leumi (National Insurance) fraudelently!! If there is a question of whether her phony degree constitutes a crime, there is no question here if proven to be correct!! And Olmert tells Lieberman to decide if she should stay in the Knesset! THERE IS NO LEADERSHIP IN THIS COUNTRY!! Hopefully, the Knesset will have the good sense not to confirm her (especially in light of these new allegations). We need another Menachem Begin!!!
12. tartman
sas ,   israel   (02.28.07)
there is nothing to examine. the woman is a liar and should go on trial and then to jail.
13. Absurd
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (02.28.07)
I don't know what everyone is getting so upset about. Lying and fraud are the very qualifications necessary to be a successful Israeli MK. Seems to me that she's the right woman for the right job.
14. Leftwing's 'Yes-Meni' in action again!
Matthias Roth ,   Switzerland   (02.28.07)
Ready to remove another person who is inconvenient for the leftists. So much to 'Israeli democracy'!
15. #13
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (02.28.07)
I just want to remind #13 that a person must be considered innocent until proven guilty. The same goes in this situation. Also, it is improper to besmirch the names of all members of Knesset as being unethical. Although there may be those who certainly have no place in our congress because of their problematic personal behavior, this does not mean that there are not honest and ethical people there with integrity and clean hands. I would hope that the latter category represents the majority.
16. Arab MKs are ALLOWED to commit TREASON
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (02.28.07)
17. What about "Obtaining a position by deceit"?
Phil Jones ,   London   (02.28.07)
It is fraud and she is being paid by taxpayers money.
18. Arab MKs are ALLOWED to commit TREASON
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (02.28.07)
Attorney General Mazuz gives Arab MKs - his favorites - a free pass to commit treason.
19. Olmert is a coward
(02.28.07)
Why is he turning to Lieberman regarding this matter? Is he afraid that Israel Beteinu would provoke new elections if they don't get what they want?
20. of course
lol ,   israel   (02.28.07)
if not, it should be. falsificating information in order to recieve position/ salary/ power and / or personal gain AND cheating the people of her country as well as setting a bad example for the young.....
