Maybe PETA has persuasive financial contributors that don't want criticism. As long as no animal sacrifice occurs in Israel, I don't expect PETA to say anything, but It's been all over the news, CNN included. Animal sacrifices may be part of tradition, but many people realize that the way to honor G-d should be a constructive one, not one where the life of an innocent animal is taken to cleanse somebody's sins.
