1. Finnish song about bombs OK back in 1982
ixnaynope   (03.01.07)
Finland's Kjell Ekholm, Eurovision song Contest organizer, claims Israel's Eurovision entry has an inappropriate political message. Finland is the host country for the contest this year. Yet in 1982 the Finnish entry was a very political song solely about bombs, and nobody had a problem with that. Maybe because the bombs weren't Iranian, but American and Russian. Yet again Israel is singled out. Please expose this hypocrisy. Yours, Ixnay Enclosed is a link to the (very poorly translated) words to the Finnish entry back in 1982. The song title litterally means "Sleep while bombs are falling" ie to be unaware of imminent danger and/or oversleep. http://www.diggiloo.net/?1982fi
2. How is this inappropriate? Appeasing EU mentality
David ,   Boston, USA   (03.01.07)
Shame on EU. There are reasons why there are so few Jews left in Europe and why there will, unfortunately, eventually be none.
3. Crazy rulers
RedStarYeast ,   USA   (03.01.07)
As far as I know, the only "nuclear buttons" in the Middle East are held by the occupying powers: US, Israel, GB. The song certainly cannot refer to Iran, which is apparently destined to be on the receiving end of a "preemptive strike," nuclear or otherwise.
4. Hooray for the Euronutsies
JPS ,   Efrat   (03.01.07)
Only in Europe could the politically incorrect doublespeakers declare that an anti-nuke song is "not appropriate". I'm not surprised. They've already bought into the phoney Palestinian media-spin that suicide bombers are part of the "legitimate right to resist the occubation".
5. I'll be honored to be banned by those F*** Europeans
an Israeli   (03.01.07)
That's the exact purpose of art: say the most urgent human massages to mankind, when the political fog won't let them be saud any other way. But to Europeans the cry to stop a mass murderer who says he's willing to sacrifice 15 Million of his own people to exterminate another people, is not a human massage, since the people to be exterminated first are the Jews. Teapacks: If they ban you, you'll win first price in the eyes of history, and yuo won't have to set eyes on those European hyenas. You should be honored.
6. What is wrong about a policital song?
Nele ,   Berlin, Germany   (03.01.07)
At the official Eurovision Homepage the song that Tippex is going to perform indicated as being still unknown. http://www.eurovision.tv/content/view/364/1/ If it's true what is written in this article, it is a scandalous decision. What's wrong about a political song? What could be stronger than artists that express their fears and wishes in a song? Unbelievable!
7. This decision may benefit Israel
Sandy ,   Canada   (03.02.07)
There are 1000 to 1 chances that the Eurabians would allow anti-Israel songs in the future, so this sets the standard: no political songs. I think we can live with that.
8. Im sorry the lyrics are pathetic and
Better choices or ,   Israel will be out   (03.01.07)
not at all appropriate for the Eurovision song contest..with all its pomp and ceremony..I have watched the show since i was a little girl and I very much doubt that they will want such a song. Its not like we dont have good singers..why do we have to send a whole band when we can send Harel Skaat, or Hareel Moyal, or Ninette, or Idri lider..why the whole Lehaka.. Why do they call them TEAPACKS..what sort of stupid name is that..TIPPEX is and english word everyone knows what it is..why change the name. Of all the choices they could have picked someone else and if it is TIPPEX who i really enjoy in hebrew then the song should have been made to suit the targetted audience and not based on a whimsical response from a few Israeli judges..who very rarely get it right..
9. TEAPACKS = TIPPEX HAHAHA!
Ariel ,   TA   (03.02.07)
10. #8 I agree with you
Sharl ,   NZ   (03.02.07)
but the singers you mentioned are dark looking......... No way the Israeli panel will agree to send second class citizens(darkies) to represent the white supremacy Israel. I left for New Zealand many years ago, a country in which I am treated with dignity for being what I am, rather than where I was born, after my family have been kicked out of Spain in the name of christianity.
11. rearvision
daniel ,   Auckland NZ   (03.02.07)
If last years winners are a testament to good taste. Metal in monster outfits with lots of axes and viking rape and pillage genre. Well I ask you a dwarf singing about the horrors of nuclear holocaust must be a more palatable option.
12. I know....
Casey ,   Germany   (03.02.07)
yeah everything about them is an appropertaite, eveen their action....
13. What willl happen? Does anyone know?
Rai de la Nano ,   Berlin, Germany   (03.02.07)
So what will happen in the event the song is banned? Will Israel be disqualified from the competition or will Teapacks be obliged to perform another song? Thank you.
14. This song concerns Israel
zeev geneva ,   geneva switzerland   (03.02.07)
Reading the words, I understant that crazy Israeli leaders are puting the world in danger. I propose then to te singers to change the words and make it clear that it concerns the Israeli leaders by giving their names. This would be a solution.
15. Double Standard
Third Generation ,   Israel   (03.02.07)
Maybe if we sang a song about the Holocaust it would be accepted.
16. #15 no double standard buddy
Jerome ,   Melbourne   (03.02.07)
Now imagine Turkey sends a group with a songas follow: stop the occupation, stop, stop ,stop the occupation, la la la la la, stop the occupation.... You can't set a precedent with such a song, so better if the commitee ban these type of messages in the first place. Kappish buddy?
17. Worst Song Ever
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (03.02.07)
It would save Israel the embarrasment of finishing last again if this stupid song was booted out. This way no one would have to vote on how bad it really is. Teapacks? Isn't it Tippex?
18. Banned those Israelis
an European ,   Europe   (03.02.07)
Why not just stay out of the Eurovision song contents, bercause let's face'it you'r Israel is NOT Europe //an European
19. Europe has a heavy antisemitic history.
Benezra ,   Ashdod-Israel   (03.02.07)
20. A response to #18 - "a European"
Kate ,   London, UK   (03.02.07)
Given the many evil things committed against Jews by the peoples of Europe, the latter should consider it a great honour that Israel deigns to appear in this really rather silly contest.
21. inappropriate language
European ,   Europe   (03.02.07)
It's interesting to se the jewish twin-moral. For an israeli it's ok to write: 'those F*** Europeans' But when I write: 'those F*** Israelis' it suddenly becomes 'those Israelis' TWIN-MORAL!
22. #21I have double standard? no I have a unique standard just
#5   (03.02.07)
unique standard just for you Europeans: I despise you from the buttom of my heart, and I don't even need the holocaust for that, you've rightfully been earning it from the time I was old enough to watch the news. Please, do me a favor, try to get as upset with me, or with Israel for that matter, as you possibly can. As outraged as you possibly can. It'll sure be a better view than the view of you being just sneaky hypocrites.
23. to 22-i agree with you. they are demonic.they love lie mor
avraham ,   jerusalem   (03.02.07)
more then truth. the god of israel has a special judgement for them.
24. .A response to #20
European ,   Europe   (03.02.07)
A right! You mean the same evil things, that the jews are comitting to the palestinians today!
25. Tippex sounds and looks better
(03.02.07)
when written too,than moronic teapacks.
26. RELAX - IT'LL BE LIKE GERALDO AT AL CAPONES VAULT
ANDREW ,   Miami, FL USA   (03.02.07)
27. #1
Niko ,   Finland   (03.02.07)
Both entries are about the same, though while Israeli one expresses a wish to stay alive, Finnish 1982 entry is pessimistic in its tone and tells one to just "sleep until the bomb." In any case, I will most likely vote Israel's entry, and should they ban Israel, I'll sure protest somehow this and try to find a way to hurt YLE financially.
28. SR
SR ,   NYC   (03.02.07)
Evil things, you Euro-idiot? You don't know what evil means. All you have to do is to look only 60 back in time on your "wonderful" continent. Or today, in Darfur, for example ,or Srebrenica. But you're not interested in that, are you? It's the evil Jews/Juden/Juifs/Ebrei Israel is unbelievably soft on that cancerous aspirant to statehood - PA. It should've gotten medieval on them back in 1967
29. Singing to Europa
Damir ,   Russia   (03.02.07)
Eurovision contest is for europeans and they run it. So on order to win it song MUST be in European language. I mean being understandable to europeans, giong about what europeans care for in this precise moment, and preferably by those whom europeans already recognize. They never interested in any national affair. Well, we, russians, almost win last year with something so european that it did not go in Russia at all. It might be so that winning _national_ contest is a sure way to a failure in Eurovision. Finns also made a smart move last year stopping altogether any bit of finnish folklore to leak into the contest song. This is not an anti-semitism. Just sing to them what they WANT to hear.
30. # 24.....You are corrupt and evil in many ways
Ivri   (03.02.07)
Funding terror states (Iran,Iraq etc) If i were you,i wouldnt advertise the fact you are part of a corrupt, declining people populating a blood soaked continent. Better pick now what brand of islamo fascism you want to adhere to when they totally overtake you, your people and your blood soaked land. Have fun.
