1. European Leftists - braindead?
Kate ,   Jerusalem   (03.04.07)
I'm not sure how many Europeans support the idea of "nuclear war". Left, right, center - it's pretty much agreed that such a war would be horrific. But then again I know a European who cried when Saddam was hung...
2. Eurovision is NOT the place to develop such ideas
(03.04.07)
3. Left
BJ ,   Basel, Switzerland   (03.04.07)
Common denominator as an enemy for the left was ever and is also now Israel : all enemies of Israel, Soviet Union, Arabs, Iran/Ahmadinejad are automatically friends of the left !
4. Who the hell cares about the Eurovision anyway ?(End)
dd   (03.04.07)
With all due respect to European culture, Europe has been doing its utmost recently to lose its clot by issuing most weird rules just in order to be more and more politically "correct". Question is, correct about what ? Sheer stupidity, maybe. If this ban is going to happen to, otherwise extremely politically correct Teapacks, then we'll have yet another proof that European cultural values have been at its lowest for quite some time now. The final question is whether the likes of Ahmadinejad will give a damn... I hope for Europe's sake, they doubt it, too.
5. Plocker - You Just Realized This?
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (03.04.07)
It's about time you notice how off the wall European leftists have become. Shades of Neville Chamberlain - the Eurabian appeasement crowd worries about "offending" crazy dictators but they sure don't mind offending us. There's hope for you yet.
6. This song is not about Iran !!!!
Ariel ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (03.04.07)
I have enough of hearing all kind of commentators continuing to see specific political meanings in this song. "Push the button" is about ANY tyrant who is willing to terrorize while we, normal people, just want to have fun in life, 'sitting in the sun'.
7. When Europe is invaded by these loons....
Steven Wilson ,   Anchorage, Alaska   (03.04.07)
the first call will be to the Hated United States to save their sorry asses from the Muslims. Oh I forgot....they have already given the country away to the Muslims. At least we know who is mooning the United States 5 times a day.
8. Could his real name be "Sucke"r?
Persian CAT ,   Middle-O-Nowhere   (03.04.07)
This guy's claim that the people do not denounce and protest Ahamdinejad's foolish policies, the Israel/US instigated genocide in Iraq and the nuclear proliferation is bogus and shows how clueless this guy is. To make matters worse he fails to realize that the "Teapacks" would be thrown in jail by the Israeli government if had made a song evern mentioning the nuclear weapons Israel has. How such a bottom dwelling fake intellectual idiot get his brain farts published, is beyond me.
9. New breed of censorship
Oliver Rau ,   Frankfurt, Germany   (03.04.07)
Being a european liberal leftist myself, I couldn't agree more to Mr. Plockers comment. 25 years ago, the whole of Europa was singing along to Nicole's simple wish for "A little Peace". Nowadays, whilst civilisation is in greater danger than ever, threatened by some insane leaders with nuclear weapons, a more than understandable plea to stop that should be censored? This is truly bizarre. Yes, in my opinion George W. Bush is a thread to humankind. But that doesn't turn Ahmadinejad into a fighter for world peace. Okay, as far as I heard, the EBU isn't really going to disqualify 'Push The Button'. But the thought alone that it could be due to "political content" is insane. I'd like to thank Mr. Plocker for this refreshing comment. As a fan of the Eurovision Song Contest, I have a small website about it. I'll link this comment there.
10. 9# If only the generation before you had as much
Steven Wilson ,   Anchorage, Alaska   (03.05.07)
love your neighbor, Hug a good Jew, before they slaughtered 6 million of them. Now the Mantra is....Let the Arabs finish the Jews off.....while we good Germans hide in our homes from our Arab friends. Didn't you guys work together in WW2 also. Doing nothing to stop the countries that want the Jews wiped out, is as good as giving the green light, and contributing to the next holocaust. Since when has Germany cared about anyone other than the Germans? We'll handle the war.....you can sit on your hands and bitch all day about peace. Don't get involved....what's new.
11. New Breed of Censorship
Scott Baum ,   Memphis USA   (03.05.07)
Right on the money
12. Art for politics' sake
Ted S ,   Borscht Belt, USA   (03.05.07)
Wasn't there already a controversial Israeli Eurovision entry back in 2000? I distinctly remember it coming right on the heels of Cliff Richard's horrible "Millennium Prayer". The Israeli song was even worse, which took some doing, but it ticked off the "right" people (Orthodox rabbis), so the song was praised in the media.
13. censur is here live, They do not let any strong critics
Tayfun_Turkey ,   Istanbul   (03.05.07)
censur is here lived, They do not let any strong critics published even as talkback. This newspaper censured my critical reply to its soapbox writer and Israeli attempt to politize Eurvision for IDF's interests!
14. The west needs the "Left" (IMHO)
Abdullah ,   EuMe   (03.05.07)
Given the current state of western society where true spirirtuality is pretty much hidden, the wets needs the "left" to save it from itself. Without the restraining influence of the "left" (or true religion) the west could easily swing to the self-destructive excesses of bigotry and fascism.
15. Tippex are morrocan Jews
Abdullah ,   EuMe   (03.05.07)
and their songs usually have a oriental soul, so I wonder why that is missing from their eurabian song.
16. Alas, Europa has lost itself
Cameron ,   USA   (03.05.07)
The many years of hiding behind the American shield and building an ever bigger & grander 'welfare state' has had a disasterous effect on the European psyche. Taking strong steps to protect and address the barbarism and stagnation afflicting the Islamic regions may not be as 'fashionable' as global warming and environmental protection, but keeping their European societies intact & their families alive does seem to be a much more pragmatic & logical direction for Europe to move in, no? I do find myself wishing Bush would spend some of the that vast amount of time & effort to try & help Europe to find or replace it's missing backbone and honour. One would think that the events of the last few years would finally wake the Europeans up to the basic fact of human reality: that pandering or playing an *ss-kiss to barbarism & truly dark agendas offer neither stability nor safety. If Europeans wish to slip off the edge of the cliff through their own decadence and fear, so be it, but their cousins across the water choose otherwise.
17. Who has the button?
RedStarYeast ,   USA   (03.06.07)
Someone should inform Mr. Plocker that the only person in the Middle East capable of "pushing the button" is an Israeli prime minister. One would conclude that the hero of the Teapacks' song is an Olmert rather than an Ahmadinejad....
18. Help from Bush?
Wolfram ,   USA   (03.06.07)
Cameron wishes that Bush would "try & help Europe to find or replace it's missing backbone and honour." I'm afraid that the Europeans have seen how much Bush has "helped" Iraq and will continue to decline his generous assistance.
19. #18-- Wolfram, worry not
Cameron ,   USA   (03.06.07)
I (and in truth, you too) am merely waiting for the inevitable squalling for aid & assistance to come racing across the Atlantic from the glorious EU. It's not a matter of 'if', it's only a matter of 'when.'
20. Abdullah
Dan ,   London   (03.07.07)
What's missing from their song is "appeasement" an afflication of the israeli government and also the Europeans. Therefore it may not get une point but I've heard this song twice now and quite like it . Go boys!
21. Teapack
(05.10.07)
Maybe he should also refer to the fact that israel already has nuc bombs. And to the endless suffering israel has brought to the region. It will take a lof of time before iran has it's bombs. By then, he might not even be president any more.
22. Wrong
Conrad ,   Redmond, USA   (05.17.07)
Eurovision is exactly the kind of place to develop such ideas. The greatest idea not brought to the public is worthless.
