With publications like YNET and ha'aretz we do not even need the bbc to incite hatred towards us,they do a real fine job with that.

Third, why was protection of the home front so disorganized? Fourth, why was the army so unprepared, the reserves ill-trained, & equipment missing? An incompetent P.M., an incompetent Defense Minister, an incompetent Foreign Minister, led to this mess. They should all resign.

I'm not an Olmert fan. Nevertheless, if the report is accurate, then Olmert's foresight in planning a response for the likely eventuality should be applauded. The PM is charged with relying on the Tzah"l for their military assessment of Israel's military capabilities and the military's expected results of applying their forces. The PM shouldn't be faulted for errors in our general's advice. I've served in the USAF (Intelligence) and in the Tzah"l. I've seen how both work from the inside. I was always critical of the American military because of bureaucracy -- until I served in the Tzah"l and discovered how a military can be built on a bureaucracy that values Hollywood-movie bravado above pragmatism. In battle however, the guy consumed with bravado who stands up and yells "Charge!" is the first one riding home in a flag-draped box, not the one who lives to become Rambo in Hollywood movies. Anyone who reads these talkbacks quickly realizes that Israelis typically don't comprehend pragmatism, only (often foolish) bravado. What I've seen of the workings in Tzah"l is consistent with this observation and my experience is that Israeli generals are typically no exception. Terry (#2) has well stated the implications.

Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah had said on TV that he knews that Israel has finsihed plans to bombs Lebanon in early 2006. It took 6 months for PM Olmert to confirm this. Hezbollah provoked Israel into war and than it defeated Israel in a stunning victory that surprised the west. Israeli defeat made Hezbollah stronger and more popular than ever. This is a year of disgrace for Israel. Olmert should resign for bringing shame upon Israeli military and the whole nation.

The war in Lebanon highlighted why Israel needs war plans on the drawing board at all times. This is no surprise. And while cheerleaders for terror like Rachel seize any opportunity to bash Israel, we know the war was not started by Israel. And while plans may have been in place, you don't know if Israel would have implemented them. The border was calm the day Hizbullah attacked, murdered and kidnapped Israeli soldiers monitoring the border. Hizbullah has the blood of hundreds of dead people on their hands. This senseless attack served no purpose. Innocent people on both sides suffered because of Nasrallah's careless act of aggression.
