1. oy gevolt... is this somothing to be proud of?
Rehavam ,   israel   (03.16.07)
Madonna, Sacha Baron Cohen and even Paris Hilton... Who next? more porn stars? more cheap comedians? will muslims come? oy gevolt.
2. that's a switch!
Elisheva B.A. ,   s. pete florida   (03.16.07)
who would've thunk it? after so many centuries of persecution that the non-jew would take a shine to kabbalah, kashrut, and israeli music!
3. also
Josh ,   NYC   (03.16.07)
It's also the place of choice for most of the big law firms and wall street places to take major clients that eat kosher. On the other hand, I happen to be somewhat more partial to Mike's Bistro on 72nd street. Same price range, doesn't have the sushi, but really, really good.
4. # 1 Rehavam
Sagi ,   Israel   (03.16.07)
The narrow confines of Katryelifka would suit you better than Israel.
5. Non-Jewsh Celebs and Kashrut a Good thing
Larry ,   DC   (03.16.07)
Listen up Yidelach this is not a negative. Let them eat what they want and the more traffic at Kosher establishments the better. This will attract more investors/restauranteurs (sp) of caliber and give those of us who are Shomrim Kashrut more choices of where to eat out. Why not?
6. This is VERY good -
Shalom   (03.16.07)
All those who like to mock kosher restaurants, in favor of treife pleasures, will probably soon be seeing kashrut in a new light - think of all the Israelis in LA and CA who are presently eating in treife restaurants - they like to be more American than the Americans, so I hope they will give kashrut a go.
7. Naive trival, "yeah the goys love us" WHO GIVES A DAMN!
Sasha ,   Haifa   (03.16.07)
Do you Jews even love yourselves, do you even respect your fellow Jews? No, then why do you give so much to make the goyim love you. PATHETIC
8. New York Kosher Food Healthier??? Ha Ha HA Ha Ha
malcolm   (03.16.07)
New York Kosher Jews are so desperate they will eat anything with a glatt label on it. In the Garment Center, NY Jews have had to put up with a wildly successful but utterly filthy burger or pizza shop because they are the only game in town. One well know pizza/falafel place on Broadway is so filthy you would throw up if you stopped fressing and looked around. Only desperate religious Jews would put up with such low standards. The front door glass has been smashed for over a year and is held together with tape. Yet they make money hand over fist as it's the ONLY place of it's kind in the Garment center.
9. Sacha Baron Cohen is a Jew..I'd imagine he'd want kosher...
(03.16.07)
10. This is Just a Fad - Tomorrow It'll be Over
Raz ,   Rishlach   (03.16.07)
As with most things Hollywood - this will be over pretty soon. In a few weeks, they'll all be chanting Buddhist mantras, or learning Scientology, or getting medicine men to remove their bad vibes, etc, etc...
11. No. 6, Shalom
NYC Girl   (03.16.07)
I don't think it's that most Israelis in New York or Los Angeles want to be "more American than the Americans." It's that they don't care whether or not what they eat is kosher. In fact, of all the Israelis I've known, only one was kosher, and that was under duress because he married an American woman and it was her idea.
12. Kashrut and Celebs
hadas ,   United States   (03.16.07)
It seems to me it is all to the good. The more people flocking to quality kosher venues, the more good kosher food will become available hopefully. Several years ago, when Washington, DC had a first- rate French restaurant all sorts of people flocked to eat there, have business luncheons there, etc. Among the many fans of "L'etoile" were several muslim ambassadors. BTW, it may come as a shock to some younger folk, but for hundreds of years Jews and Muslims lived in relative amity in many countries of the world. Jews and muslims frequently broke bread together. So if they have a yen for glatt kosher fare--so be it.
13. terrible blow
(03.16.07)
to the shrimp eating lefties ha ha. They'll need to stay in Israel to eat their krap ha ha( not kreplach, our and now hollywoods yummy kreplach) What a joke. Good Shabbos and enjoy chulent and chopped liver (to Charlie P.T. too)...
14. Israel's position
Chaya ,   Bat Yam, Israel   (03.16.07)
Maybe they will also start to understand Israel's position, politically!
15. #14 and then what? Celebs to the rescue?
on break ,   IDF   (03.16.07)
Only Hashem and our fellow Jews can save us. PS: Chaya, Shabbat Shalom, dont worry yourselves with Ynet on this Friday night, spend time with your family.
16. All these "celebs" are extremly ugly, thus it matches ynet
Read A7 ,   Israel   (03.16.07)
personal figure. Ugly and Ugly go together.
17. Madonna Kosher ?
Galit ,   NYC   (03.16.07)
It is no mitsvah for non Jews to eat kosher only for Jews who are next door at the Chinese restaurant.
18. whats kosher
(03.16.07)
the kosher symbol is practically on every product anyway- including coke and pepsi and dish soap.
19. As a traditional Jew who eats kosher all the time
Al   (03.16.07)
I boycott all and any restaurants. Kosher ones in general are filthy crap holes. If you cant eat your food at home and must eat on the street like some dog then I pity you. Learn to cook or better yet get someone to cook for you. Its time that we Jews move back into our homes and cook and eat like menchen. It will also slim us down for as a frequent visitor to the US I notice that Americans in general are horribly obese. Eating in a filthy restaurant is A) not healthy for you and B) Not cool.
20. "Kosher"? How pathetic
Jewish CANADIAN ,   Toronto Canada   (03.17.07)
Its 2007 people. We eat whatever we want,Why anyone would stilll believe in this stupidity is beyond me.
21. #19
mark ,   ca   (03.17.07)
Years ago I visited home of the Rabbi in San Francisco.Speaking of the filthy home and kitchen...it was kosher. They offered me cup of water, but I wasn't suicidal :-))
22. Instead of besmirching 'filthy' kosher restaurants...
chinbro ,   Chicago   (03.18.07)
Why don't you stop bitchin' and start a clean on of your own? I love all these people who use this as an excuse to eat treif. Let's face it, you simply don't want to be inconvenienced away from your McDonalds and lobster because you are undisciplined and lazy. My father used to fill prescriptions for syphllis for the cooks at some of the fanciest shmanciest Gentile restaurants in town. Stop finding excuses for rationalizing your ignorance and shunning of Jewish law and tradition. Keep kosher, or don't, but choose carefully, and know what you don't know before you choose. If you think it is some backwards ass 5th century superstition... then you don't know.
23. All you lobster fressers need to
Kosher maid(ele) ,   Merkaz   (03.18.07)
read Michael Winner's article in today's Daily Mail/ Mail on Sunday UK. Horrifying. He's a top treif mayven by the way. Not sure if he's Jewish (like you all)
24. To #20 - Kashrut - the "hok" that binds
Mois ,   Israel   (03.19.07)
"it is 2007 - we eat what we want" - and if we think about history we will want to eat kosher. Though indeed it is a rule that defies simple logic (i.e., "hok"), it is one of a number of powerful laws that has proven to keep us together as a people - not to mention keeping us connected to our Creator on a daily basis
