Maybe the govt is finally waking up? seems like they are preparing for something big, drills like this cost money... Maybe they realise the missile defense systems wont be ready so soon

either they are getting wise......or they know soon something will happen. Could Israel be preparing for war with Iran???? Maybe they are finally gonna stand up?
4. Guys FORGET ABOUT AN ATTACK ON IRAN
(03.19.07)
It's not going to happen. The only was Israel could win without enormous losses was through the use of tactical nukes - and that is out of the question.

Israel won't attack Iran, but Iran and Syria will attack Israel, and other Western nations. Israeli government is preparing for this. The U.S. needs to do this also.
6. To #4, Why?
Ironcandle ,   Atlanta, GA   (03.19.07)
Why is using tactical nukes out of the question? The US was prepared to wipe out the Soviet Union, and Eastern Europe if required, completely, only 20 years ago. Why would Iran be any different? They are threatening the same things the USSR was threatening, they are building nukes like the USSR did, they are fighting in other coutries, proxy-style, like the USSR did. Why are the Iranians any different to us? They appear to want war with us, and it seems they are going to get what they want, but the question is, do they really understand what they are getting? We have been preparing for nuclear war for 60 years, and they have only begun. I think they see this Iraq nonsense as us becoming weak. That is their error, and maybe one that will injure their country greatly. I hope cooler heads will prevail.

The missle defense systems for defense from balistic missles Arrow and patriot are ready but just because you knck down enemye missles doesnt mean there wont be problems which need to be trained for. You can have fire escapes in a building and you can have a good fire service but you still need to hold fire drills sometimes make sure the people know what to do and it gives the rescue workers a chance to train in as close to a real situation as possible. The defense system for the katushas that wont be ready for another 2-3 years because instead of choosing a system thats off the shelf and ready to put into operation imidiatly Peretz decided to go with a system thats not even been fully developed yet. Drills save lives thats why they are worth the money spent on them

Relax, you're writing in English not German; you can use small letters when starting a new word. So you are from Hebron... FYI - the Hebrew word "Hebron" is derived from the Hebrew word for "friend" (haver). As you see, who is occupying whom, it's not so clear subject. You live in the city in Judea/Samaria that bears Hebrew name. To the question of oppression - that also shouldn't be so easy. I think oppression from a rival faction - are you with fatah or hamas? anyway - must be much more actual for you now than mythical "Israeli oppression". So stop sloganeering, try to improve your own society, and don't be so excited about Iranian rocket science - a missile aimed at Knesset, might easily land in Hebron, on your own head. Mullahs won't ask if you volunteerd to be a martyr for a rigth cause. They will just assign it for you.

Sounds like a pretty strong coincidence to me that the same week the US & Israel are holding military manuovers against possible nuke attacks from Iran that the homefront is holding a massive countrywide drill, which must cost close to a million sheckles. I think we should realizing it rather quickly that they are preparing for something that will happen soon and get all our papers in order because it is gonna be a long hard fight with lots of casualities on all sides.

Generals in the Rev. guard are going missing, drills are being conducted something is gonna go down by the end of summer. These drills are to prepare for the response from iran via balistic missiles either conventional or with chemicals/germs on them when their reactors are reduced to dust. For those who think i would be a long war you are mistaken, syrian formations, iranian troops in iran/lebanon and hezbollah will be decimated by carpet bombing and a full mechanized counter attack into syria and lebanon. Oh wait olmert and peretz are cowards maybe they actually will realize Israel wont exist if they dont fight.

I can see that this current government who seems bent on destroying Israel, is busy instililing more fear in to Israeli's The New World Order is using Olmert like a stoodge, and boy is he surrendered.
15. 3&4 - no one is talking war only knocking out nuclear sites
redmike ,   tel aviv and london   (03.19.07)
your posts are very unclear to me .. there are 3 countries between Israel and Iran so why would anyone talk about a land war ? I would almost 100% expect the US to attack Iran's nuclear sites within the next 8 weeks and this has been clear to most observers for months now. Bush won't finish his term with the sites intact and he will get weaker after the summer. Israel might destroy the sites but none of this can or will lead to a ground war but only to rockets from Iraq and said rockets would have to overfly 3 countries and one of them being Iraq whose airspace is controlled by the US.
16. excuse me redmike....
DeAnna ,   USA   (03.19.07)
I agree with you that there will not be a land war. I worded what I was saying wrong. But what I was getting at is that Israel is preparing for retaliation?

I don't think anyone develops any weapons they will not eventually use if need be. There is nothing sacred about nukes. This is a liberal myth that has been around way too long. They just make a bigger boom and cause vastly more damage. Sometimes circumstances justify their use. Just what do you fear from their use? That the bad guys will be reduced to atoms? Oh, boo hoo. With all due respect, stop being such a liberal psycho. If someone is going to vaporize your country, it is imperative and morally justified to do it to them first.
19. Even Iran want to be attacked
Jon ,   Austin, TX USA   (03.19.07)
Everyone wants the US or Israel to attack Iran's nuke sites, ESPECIALLY Iran. The biggest danger to nuckle-head (Amadenejad) is his own people who, more and more, realize they would make more money with a more cordial relationship with Washington. The US or Isreal attacking Iran will disipate that threat (unfortunately)

This is a great idea,I wish my country did this on a national scale. Some of us,obviously,do what we can to be prepared.Kudos to the Israeli government and peoples for this plan.

Undeniable rights are not declared by a.mad.man.ijad. Defeat is for those who declare doom unto others.
23. #18 You misunderstand me
(03.20.07)
I do not oppose the use of nukes for "moral" reasons. As you so adequately put it, a nuke simply makes a bigger boom. I oppose Israel's use of nukes because 1) This would confirm that they have them. 2) This would result in an attempt byt he international community to disarm Israel. I will be completely frank with you: I do not see Iran as a serious threat. Mr. Ahmadinejad is an idiot, and his words are completely hollow. He knows very well that should Israel be "wiped off the map", so will the entire Middle-East along with his Muslim brothers. The only difference a nuclear armed Iran would make would be the rise of a new regional superpower along with Israel.
