It is to be hoped that the PM who replaces Olmert &Co will heed the words of Gen. William Tecumseh Sherman. If not, then Israel will contunue on the path of certain destruction, piece by piece, step by step , as is now happening.
These are Sherman's wise words for the next PM of Israel:
"War is cruelty, and you cannot refine it; and those who brought war into our country deserve all the curses and meledictions a people can pour out. The crueler it is, the sooner it will be over.
War is the remedy our enemies have chosen, and I say give them all they want.
This war differs from all other wars,
in this particular. We are not fighting armies but a hostile people , and must make young and old, rich and poor, feel the hard hand of war.
My aim, then, was to whip the rebels, to humble their pride, to follow them to their inmost recesses, and make them fear and dread us. Fear is the beginning of wisdom.
If the people raise a great howl against my barbarity and cruelty, I will answer that war is war, not a popularity seeking."
General William Tecumshe Sherman. Grand Army of the Republic. (American Civil War)
