1. Simple question
15 Years old ,   Israel   (03.25.07)
Why do we need to keep Jewish traditions? If we stop being Jews then there will by no God, obviously there is no God without Jewish people. And if there is no God, then what are the traditions for? I am only 15 but I haven't had a reasonable explanation yet.
2. IS IT JUST TRADITION???
al mann ,   Jerusalem,Israel   (03.25.07)
Stop using the outdated and outmoded term Judaism! Stop calling Judaism a religion! Nowhere in the sources are the Children of Israel and its Torah a religion. We are all one people following a divinely given constitution. It is because of that Torah that we have the right to be living in the land of Israel. As in any country, unfortunately, there are citizens who follow the law less closely than others. Throughout history, there were always groups who strayed from the constitution because their reason for being, their identity was lost amidst wars, assimilation, and progress. We think that as long as our identity will bring us ''profits'' it justifies our existence. The problem is that it hasn't brought us any ''prophets''. Today, we are lost, our ideology has been lost, our leadership is lost. We are floundering not knowing what to do. We can't win a war,ON A PHYSICAL OR SPIRITUAL realm. When we will begin to restudy our sources we can learn how up-to-date they are. Progress is man going from one illusion to another. For everything there is a price to pay. All of us must reevaluate whether it was all worth it. Did we all lose throughout the centuries by trying to escape who we are? What price did we pay for our constant denial of who we are? If this people is to survive the core group will remain while others will drop out in the name of progress. Do you remember the Saducees and the Essenes? Do they still exist? This people is in a constant state of purification. Those who don't belong leave. They sacrifice their citizenship but always have the opportunity to return. They have the opportunity to relearn the Torah and rededicate themselves to the richness and glorious experience of being part of the People of Israel.

4. #1 15 yr old simple question
Paqid 16 Netzarim ,   Ra'anana, Israel   (03.25.07)
Neither evolution nor any other scientific theory even attempts to explain the existence of the universe ex nihilo (from nothing). Thus, the Creator is demonstrated, irrespective of Jews or tradition. Your reasoning is non sequitur (in other words, your conclusion does not follow from the premise). Therefore, your next conclusion is based on ex falso quodlibet, which means that since your premise is false, no logical conclusion can be logically drawn from it. The answer is simple. If you study logic and Torah diligently, you'll find the answers you seek. Paqid Yirmeyahu Israeli Orthodox Jew Advancing Logic as Halakhic Authority Welcoming Jews & non-Jews
5. #1 YOURE A 50 YR OLD ATHIEST, THIS IS YOUR ANSWER
..............DACON9   (03.25.07)
**YOU** DONT NEED TO KEEP ANYTHING. IF *YOU* START BEING JEWS, THEN THERE WILLBE A NATION UNITED. OBVIOUSLY THERE IS A 'GD' BECAUSE YOU WANT TO PROVE THERE ISNT. THERE IS A 'GD' WAITING, AND IF YOU ARE A NATION UNITED THEN MAYBE ISRAEL WOULD ELECT 'GDLY LEADERS AND WIN A 'GDLY WARS ACTING IN 'GDLY WAYS TO BRING PEACE TO ISRAEL. UNTIL THEN 'GD WAITS, THEN SLAPS YOU LIKE YOUR FATHER FOR DISOBEYING 'HIM' WHEN YOUR LEADERS AND YOUR RABBIS START TAKING CARE OF ISRAEL AND NOT THE WORLD AND NOT SEARCHING AFRICA FOR socalled LOST ..... WHEN ITS LOST ..... .....ITS LOST IS YOU.... ..... AS THE EXAMPLE... THEN ISRAEL WILL KNOW 'GD' YOU KEEP HIDING, 'GD' WILL WAIT FOR YOU IT WAS 'GD' THAT WON THE 6 DAY WAR AND 4 OTHER WARS NOT THE IDF. I WILL STOP HERE CAUSE THE REST OF WHAT I WANT TO SAY YNET ALWAYS CENSORS.. BUT SIMPLY PUT.. BE A JEW ALREADY BE PROUD TO BE A JEW DO NOT FEEL OBLIGATED TO BE KIND TO YOUR ENEMIES OR INTRUDING OTHER RELIGIONS THAN IMPOSE THEIR WAYS ON JEWISH PEOPLE.. IF THEY LOVED JEWS SO MUCH WHY ARENT THEY CONVERTING.. BE A JEW AT ANY LEVEL IS OK BUT ACCEPT 'GD' AND TORAH ONCE AGAIN,, AND YOU WILL THEN 'SEE' 'GD' AND ISRAEL WILL KNOW 'GD' ONCE AGAIN...

15 Year old again ,   Israel   (03.25.07)
Thank you for taking my question seriously Evolution and science don't have a conclusive explanation to our existence, so far so good. The problem is that me and my friends say that just because we don't have an answer to this question, we are not prepared to take any answer and in your case the Jewish tradition, we can wait for a more accurate answer. Especially when your answers make so little sense like if there is God then why did we have the Shoa

I would like to read your talk back but not when you right in capital letter. Why do some of you have to be so rude? Is that what Jewish is all about?
8. TRADITIONS ?
DAVID ,   JUDEA   (03.25.07)
When one keeps just traditions without any reason of why and for what purpose it will remain a superficial or non connection to hashem. We are not the chosen peolpe, but the people who chose the torah. Many nations were given the oppurtunity to take on the torah but didn't want that responsibility. So the torah holds instructions how to achieve this special connection to hashem and to our fellow man. Now for the socalled modern person that believes in the much advertised and heralded personal freedom and choice, this is very hard to accept. Behind tradition there has to be education and loving support. If one would take the time to look at out our history as a nation, one would see that we went through many different influances from the then domineering culture. Only the jews that held on to the torah survived the ages and along the way we lost many fellow jews and this holding on is a personal choice. It is important for the israelis to know, that without the torah the state of Israel will indeed be a very temporary reincarnation. Because we have lost this land many times before and no matter how big of a army we have, this return will not last. But as long as there are jews connected to torah we will always come back here. From here i want to wish the whole AM a happy and kosher pesach.
9. The radical left is losing
Mordechai ,   Boca Raton USA   (03.25.07)
Contrary to the claims of the radical left most Israeli Jews want a Jewish state. They don't want a war on Torah, they don't want a Arab terrorist state next door and they don't want hundreds of thousands non Jewish immigrants in the country.

11. #6 PAQID IS LUTHERN MESSIANIC SOMETHING, NOT A JEW.
..............DACON9   (03.25.07)
#8 WE ARE 'GDS' 'SPECIAL NATION' MANY TORAH JEWS TAKE THE HILLEL APPROACH AND THAT IS TO JUST ''KEEP'' EVENTUALLY WE WILL LEARN.. LIKE A GRADE SCHOOL STUDENT, WHEN MASHIACH COMES, THE SHAMMAI APPROACH WILL BE BROUGHT UPON US, AND THENATION WILL BE HELD TO BE STRICK TO THE LETTER.
12. Simple Answer
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (03.25.07)
You have set up what is called in logic the "false dichotomy." G-D exists and will continue to exist even if all humans cease to exist. If some Jews do not perform the mitzvot, there will always be Jews who will continue to perform the mitzvot just as there have been for thousands of years since the Torah was given at Sinai. It says in the Pesach Haggadah: "And this is what stands, to our ancestors and to us: In each and every generation, they rise up against us to destroy us, but the Holy One, Blessed Be He, saves us from their hands!"
13. Hi Sagi !!! SS Abu Steiner and the small (שמאול) rest !

15. False Distinction
leon ,   Grand Rapids USA   (03.26.07)
By maintaining only two prossibilities, secular and religious, one ignores a middle ground, which I suspect many , many Jews inhabit : respect for religion but refusal to accept Orthodoxy in its absolute form. .
