1. Somebody tell that to Merkel
Brooke ,   kill politic correct   (03.27.07)
She is spewing BS propganda about Germans' love for Jews, and their tolerance....more than any other European country. Interesting how the Germans can't bring themselves to outlaw the Nazi party. That wouldn't be democratic or politically correct. Another nail in Europe's coffin....just ask Pope Benedict.
2. neo-nazi crime rates
amy markell ,   melbourne fl usa   (03.27.07)
I just read in the JP yesterday that Angela Merkel said that the anti-semtism was the lowest in Germany for many years and that it welcomed many Russians and other emmigres to have a population of 100,000 Jews now. Now, I read this?
3. Foolishness
Choni Davidowitz   (03.27.07)
And foolish Jews are rebuilding Jewish communities in this cursed Land. You recentley reported a Museum in Munich "gloryfying" jewish presence in Germany, and the establishment of both Reform and Chabad communities. This can only reinforce the "comfort zone" of Jews in exile. Can't anyone see the writing on the wall. Neo Nazis and the increase of anti- semitism is surely Hashem's message to all Jews in exile to come home the only Land the Jews have Eretz Yisrael. Ressurecting Jewish presence anywhere in the Diaspora- especially Germany- is the greatest Chillul Hashem.
4. German police have been covering up murder
Tracy W   (03.27.07)
of UK Jewish student by racist thugs. This reminds us of the French police who didn't want to classify Ilan's kidnapping and murder as an anti-Semitic act. Europe is more concerned with PR than with facing up to the truth: that Europe is once again unsafe for Jews. Here's the link to the German case. http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?cid=1173879180956&pagename=JPost%2FJPArticle%2FShowFull
5. It ain't that bad
Yael ,   Berlin, Germany   (03.27.07)
I am a Jew living in Germany and even though I hear and read about a rise in neo-nazi-crimes I have never personally encountered anything like that in my own life coming from Germans. The threat for Jews comes from Muslims (Arabs in particular). I've noticed a rise in anti-israelism mixed with some antisemitic stereotypes, but this is actually less from what I experienced in 2 months living in Denmark. Nevertheless, this is no excuse for any antisemitism in Germany.
6. Situation in Austria
David ,   Vienna, Austria   (03.27.07)
The situation in Austria is also getting worse: Last year, a croate citizen made vandalism in the jewish school in Vienna and was arrested by the police. This men said that "in Austria, there are to many jews!". And the most shocking thing was that he got from the juges only 1 year of prison. I feel that Antisemitism is increasing in Austria. And I know exactly that the situation in Germany is the same. The former president of the jewish community in Germany, Michel Friedman, got a neo nazi bodyguard from the german police and this was also shocking!!! I really feel anxious and I am considering making Aliyah after the finish of my studies, because I don' t want that my children grew up in such a country.
7. The German people feel threatened - brown shirts good
Andrew ,   Miami,FL   (03.27.07)
the german people feel legitimatly threatened by hoards of people around who dont look or act like them. They feel like their country is being taken over by outsiders. They have a huge foreigner crime rate... the pope has made so many warnings about "demographics" - its bound to sink in at some point the brown shirts will be back in fashion soon and el-al better up its flights out of there and the whole EU within the next 20 years
8. David
Tracy W   (03.27.07)
How does it make sense that Europeans are turning on Jews while it's the Muslims that are threatening European culture, freedom and safety. I just can't understand it.
9. 4th reich
