1. PA should have Invested in infrastructure
Boaz ,   Ramat Gan, Israel   (03.27.07)
Not terrorism (mass murder activities). But we are stating the obvious here, over and over, and over, and over…again
2. Spend All The Money On Arms.
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (03.27.07)
Don't bother to improve living conditions or anything sane. Just continue to spend all your money on arms, explosives, & kassams. Very smart. It shows how much you care about your own people.
3. definitely
dave ,   herzliya   (03.27.07)
definitely Israel's fault, definitely
4. Sewage
Shalom   (03.27.07)
"However, Safia claimed that Israel had threatened to bomb construction workers and the sewage pipes should the project begin." - sh** - pardon the pun!
5. 1 and 2 read this
(03.27.07)
According to Safia, Sweden and the EU have provided the Palestinian Authority with the funds necessary to construct a modernized sewage system which will divert its contents to the ocean. However, Safia claimed that Israel had threatened to bomb construction workers and the sewage pipes should the project begin.

8. NOT ENOUGH
ISRAEL   (03.27.07)
9. They're Already Blaming Israel.
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (03.27.07)
To be expected of course. They can't take responsibility for anything as usual. But can you imagine that our putz of a Defense Minister wants our army to help? Ask for an apology for blaming us before helping anyone - Of course we'll help, we're not animals like some people I could mention, but don't expect a thank you. Hopefully, they won't shoot at us while we're trying to rescue them.
10. "Palestinians attacked the rescue crews"
(03.27.07)
A very tragic event indeed. And even when faced with something beyond anybody's control (except for the PA, whom are credited with squandering the $$$ that should've been used for building infastructure), this 'people' are compelled to be violent and repugnant. Attack the rescuers; the Palestinian way.
11. "Palestinians attacked the rescue crews"
Fred Nerksq ,   Israel   (03.27.07)
The way of the palestinian; attack the rescuers!
12. The Crux Of The Problem
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (03.27.07)
"Palestinian Environment Minister, Dr Yousef Safia, blamed Israel for the flooding." The Arabs blame ALL their problems on the Jews. The Germans once blamed all their problems on the Jews. This phenomenon of always "blaming the Jews" is known as anti-Semitism. This is the horrible scapegoat mindset that has become the knee-jerk reaction among the Arabs; "things are bad - it's the Jews fault." Well, if the bad is our doing then so must the good. We, the Jews, must ergo, be G-d.
13. Blame who?
David L.   (03.27.07)
For sure, the PA is kind of cash-stranded, with out without the embargo, and cannot invest properly in its infrastructures. Moreover, because terrorists build Qassams, Israel won't allow water pipes or other materials to enter the strip. Nevertheless, the Palestinians can't blame Israel for it all. I does, however, highlights a problem which Israel may help to solve.
14. Reality check - this is probably and work/mgmt screwup
JPS ,   Efrat, Israel   (03.27.07)
Tragic events like this do not happen without causes. As with similar events around the world, the collapse of a retaining wall is usually the result of both engineering and oversight screwups. (except, of course, in the case of sabotage, which the Pals are no doubt already accusing the Mossad of carrying this out in order to avoid local lawsuits for their own incometence) We won't know the true cause unless a proper investigation is carried out. Odds are that the retaining walls weren't up to standard, little or no regular inspections were done, and the sewage treatment facility might have been improperly run and even improperly built. Hamas still doesn't realize that building their society and being in government means better roads and sewers, not just more RPGs and kassam missiles.
15. Keep rejoicing, that's your pathatic nature!
to # 1+2   (03.27.07)
The money you're talking about is intentionally given to the corrupt PA personnel i.e. the western puppets, only to protect their policies and interest in that land!! So, nothing reaches poor people like those who you’re rejoicing over. You’re pathetic and cause my stomach to turn inside out!!
16. to ALL; Israel held project & threatened construction crew
rami   (03.27.07)
i don't know what talkers smoke, but u heard the man, Israel held up fund from EU and prevented crew from laying the pipes......israel holds up the equipment for many projects like that in custom ports for AGONIZING periods of time as a means of blackmailing pals under "security inspection" excuses.
17. STINK
abe ,   ny   (03.27.07)
Good opportunity to go to Egypt now.
18. Calm down
Mina ,   India   (03.27.07)
When there is a natural disater don't laugh, becasause it can also happen to you too. Even in America when tjere was flood, they couldn't do anything about it, same as it happened in Asia 2 years ago....so don't act stupid, much more than you already are...
19. propaganda basics
tom ,   toronto, canada   (03.27.07)
"if you repeat a lie often enough, people will begin to believe it." a case in point: judging from some of the talkbacks, some people reading ynet actually believe that israel, and not hamas, is the cause of this calamity. it doesn't even matter that hamas spends its money on weapons instead of food, but hamas is not to blame. the lesson is pretty clear, israel needs to do a better job of putting forward its case to counter arab propaganda.
20. annual tragedy
Isragirl ,   Qiryat Yam, Israel   (03.27.07)
this happens every year. Bedouins are among the most neglected sectors of both Israeli and Palestinian societies. You should see y-net in Hebrew and the outpour of condolences and support coming from the Israelis to these poor people. Everybody is asking the same question - Haniyeh is holding on to millions of dollars. Where are they?
21. Nice job running gaza hamas - its called infrastructure
Andrew ,   Miami,fl   (03.27.07)
you may want to pay more attention to it than you assinine resistance have hamas fix it !! and use Suha's money to do it where are the other billions you have - use that money to fix your problems instead of buying weapons
22. Blaming Israel
G ,   Toronto   (03.27.07)
For those that believe Mr. Safia you should remember that he is responsible as the Environment Minister and who is the easiest to blame? Of course Israel. Regading the withholding of funds, if the PA had been constantly using the funds for financing sucide missions and other means of terrorism the money would be in the governments hands. If you want to blame anyone blame the PA for being pervasively corrupt and deceitful with the money they receive. If, for once, the Palestinian people held their own leaders accountable they might act in a different manner. Unfortunately, the Palestinians easily eat up the 'blame Israel' talk as it is 'safe' and easy the easier option.
23. Cesspool collapse
Meir ,   Manchester   (03.27.07)
They were probably digging another tunnel under it to smuggle more weapons, and that it was caused its collapse
24. #18 - Mina
Takan ,   Elat   (03.27.07)
You're right. Natural disaster are no source of humour nor cynism. What happened here is not a natural disaster. It's a human build wall that broke down. With some proper maintenance this would not have happened at all. The Palis are to be blamed for not maintaining their sewage system, for focusing all efforts on terror and violence (not only against Israel), for attacking the rescuers.
25. #15 They didn't look like they were rejoicing to me...
Yonatan ,   USA   (03.27.07)
Sounds like you're just the same as the rest. You and your kind can't take blame for your own mistakes just like spoiled little kids, and you're too dumb to know to be ashamed. YOU'RE the pathetic one.
26. because the man said it???
(03.27.07)
we should believe it? HE is to blame, as is his "government" - they killed those people by taking money and spending it on weapons. The security inspections were caused by....ready, for this - TERRORIST ATTACKS. Do you, can you, possibly understand - if the Palestinians continue to attempt to smuggle explosives and suicide bombers in (several in the last week) - they have NO ONE to blame but themselves for any and all delays. Deal with it, Rami - when the Pals WANT peace and stop making WAR - THEIR lives will get better - till then, they'll sit in their stinking waste because their own leaders care more about hatred than life (check out Nasrallah - at least he had the decency to be honest). If a Palestinian minister blames Israel - it only means - yet another lie piled on all the rest!
27. Is That "Green Helmet" With The Kid?
emanon ,   USA   (03.27.07)
28. # 18 Mina from "well developed" India
Isragirl ,   Qiryat Yam   (03.27.07)
These things happen in Europe, too. But some countries are prepared for that and build things to minimize casualties. Then there're governments who use their money for murder, directly and indirectly, as in this case. Katrina's disastrous results could have been prevented if the government took that in their hands. Same here. Want to call somebody stupid? Open your window and do that...
29. Tragic. PA, heal thyself!
Shuki   (03.27.07)
My condolences to the victims.
30. This happened in my town once
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (03.27.07)
Cartman's toilet backed up.
