If someone feels bothered by fictional non-Jews eating pork, then that's their problem. Then don't read it. Non-Jews are allowed to eat pork.
I also liked reading them also when I was young. Such things teach children proper ethics. When I compare children now to those who -like me- grew up with Asterix, Suske en Wiske (a Belgian cartoon series), and the Kameleon and Arendsoog books (Dutch childrens books), the difference is huge.
From those books, I learned how to be a decent person. And I learned how to read and write properly at a very young age.
Later I switched to Tom Clancy, whose books I have been reading since I was about 13 years old. They also teach children the right way to live, by portraying honest, humble, serious people as the real heroes.
Compare this to modern-day computer games and Japanese TV animations. HORRIBLE.
I'm also an Orthodox Jew, by the way.
