1. Huge achievement for Shas
Steve ,   USA   (03.28.07)
B"H Shas is getting very smart in its dealings within the government. I am almost inclined to throw my weight behind Shas rather than Bibi. We will need to see the outcome of the Likud primaries to see how skillfully Feiglin can maneuver. But this is actually a solid achievement for Shas that I estimate can help directly in the next round of elections. I think a lot of people are going to notice this step. I just wonder when A7 is going to be made legal on the airwaves again which is long overdue.
2. Very taxing
Talula ,   Israel   (03.28.07)
And how much is this going to cost me? I'm already paying through the nose for these lazy bastards.
3. This decision STINKS!
JPS ,   Efrat, Israel   (03.28.07)
The political power playing with my (aka taxpayers') money must stop. The approval of these 2 stations shows that our democracy is sick and in need of fixing. The government must set criteria for licensing all radio stations and then open the market and the airwaves so that everybody is served, not just special interest groups. There could be dozens of independent licensed radio stations operating in Israel - all that's lacking is the brain power in the government to set standards and enforce regulations.
4. what about an english language radio station?
johanna ,   tsfat   (03.28.07)
isn't the english speaking population important too? not to mention all the foreign journalists who speak english.

9. # 6 & # 7
Lauren ,   Israel   (03.28.07)
To the Jew from Israel: If indeed there will be educational programs, then it's all good. If it will be only programs aimed at the orthodox community, then enjoy. However, your comments are based on ignorance, IMO. There are some great Israeli radio stations, which you probably never ever listen to, I assume from your generalizations. 88 FM is the best station that has ever been broadcasted, and if you include that in "trash", then obviously you should stick to the weekly Torah portion program, or any religious programs. To Keren: I think that your comment is just plain nasty. Israel is a "democracy", and branding a person "Goya" because she doesn't share your idealistic enthusiasm and pioneer spirit (based on other talkbacks you have written in Y Net) does not give you the right to judge her Jewishness. Your attitude is exactly why we have so much conflict between the secular and religious Jews. Try to bridge the gap instead of making it wider. That would really be more appropriate for someone who seems to be so patriotic.
10. Why the silencing of Arutz 7?
LEE ,   NY, USA   (03.28.07)
Arutz 7 is a news source to hundreds of thousands of viewers in Israel and around the world. Yet they are actively prevented from receiving a station. This country is no democracy. When it comes to anti-Jewish activism, democracy is thrown out the window. Give Arutz 7 a station!!!!!!!
11. #2- Talula
LEE ,   NY, USA   (03.28.07)
Let me remind you that a big portion of your government's budget comes from the financial aid you receive from the US. Before you whine about other people being lazy and receiving handouts, put your own hands back in your pocket and stop stretching them my way. I don't particularly like you, yet you still take my tax money. At least with these stations I get some satisfaction.
12. # 11
Lauren ,   Israel   (03.28.07)
As an Israeli citizen, I find your talkback very insulting and crude. Maybe you do some research about exactly why "your government" is aiding Israel. No thanks to you personally, that is for sure. Care to tell us exactly what percentage of your yearly income you "donate" to us Israelis? How very typical of an uninformed American. I hope that none of your personal tax money ever comes anywhere near me. Your biased comments are insulting to all Israelis, and stem from plain ignorance, nothing more. BTW, I guess I also aid "Israelis", being an American citizen myself.
13. No security risk
Shmuel ,   Tal Menashe, Israel   (03.28.07)
It is amazing how the stupid governments persists with this blood-libel. At the time this first came up, the police caught a crew deliberately jamming the tower, in order to create pressure to close these "pirate radio" stations. The set of frequencies used by the control-tower is nowhere near that used for civilian radio.
