And I'm sick and tired of it. If you wonder why you are loosing, take a good hard look at yourselves. Because if you don't believe in the justice of your cause, nobody else will. It's that simple. Have faith in yourselves, and the rest will follow.

Justice   (03.28.07)
Zionist can run, hide, lie, manipulate, steal and kill. One day the tables will turn, eternal power is not for human kind. The 3000 years jewish dispora and christian prosecution is prove of it. Jews have sought shelter with arabs and they got. Jews and arabs lived in peace with eachother for centuries. But the zionist movement which started in europe among jews whoms anciesters have been living for 2000 years in europa. This people think thay have the right to steal palestinian land because their god promised them. Well were was ur god the past 2000 years? Were was god during the nazi-war? Dont think christians care about jews. They prosecuted them for centuries, killed 6 million 60 years ago and they were more then pleased to support jews in stealing arab land. Good ridding, the jewish question was finally solved, the europeans though. And america? But the jewish people didnt get any peace in their socalled promised land which they stole by force. You cant force yourself on people. If jews asked for refuge they would have gotten it but they forced the palestinians out of their land, destroyed more then 400 villages. Jews who want to live in peace in a palestinian state are welkom to stay but zionist who want to live in a aprtheid state only for jew at the expense of palestians, can take a flight back to brooklyn, amsterdam or texas. Even if it takes 100. 500, 1000 years, palestine will be liberated. Zionists are digging with the help of christian evangalist a grave for their children and thats very sad.

9. The Roots and Leaves of Evil
Khalid Fahmi ,   Jerusalem Palestine   (03.28.07)
This is a very pathetic and dilusional article. Yes Israel does have a serious public relation problem and was having this problem since it was created and will continue to have it until the Palestine/Israel issue is solved in a just and reasonable way. No ammount of money or talent or lies can blind the world to the harsh reality that Israel is creating on the ground, mainly due to strategic mistakes of setllement and annexation of east jJerusalem and so on. Another point the article misses. It is more important to win the hearts and mind of your neighbours than those of remote countries. It is the Palestinians that Israelisre going to live with, not the Evagilicals or the West. What is the point of winning the world minds while your neighbour is your enemy. The mentality behind this article is very detached from reality. No wonder the miss Israel is having with the Palestians. I feel sick when I read his words on treatment of women in Arab countries and using this for political agenda. his is so cheap. Not to mention the treatment of women n Israeli religious circles.
10. Israel's image
Clare Brown Agami ,   Surrey, UK   (03.28.07)
I have always wondered why Israel is SO bad at promoting their image and so woefully inadequate when defending or responding to a particular sitatuation. Thanks for an interesting article.
11. Kol HaKavod!
Imperator ,   USA   (03.28.07)
Excellent article by Mr. Martin. We, Jews in the USA and elsewhere, despair at the incompetence of Israeli hasbara. A kindergarten class would do better. This lack of Israeli hasbara is a mixture of hubris, and sheer, undiluted incompetence. It is an issue that affects ALL of us and Mr. Martin sounds a timely clarion call to wake up

16. Dream on
Michael Steiner   (03.28.07)
One of your proposed solutions--getting in bed with Xian evangelicals--shows which planet YOU're living on. Those people want to convert us every bit as much as they want to convert others in need of their idol "savior." We could use them, sure, but never mistake them for friends or let them get up to anything in Israel or Jewish communities elsewhere. As far as the rest, your arguments would've held true 50, 40, 30, 20 or even 10 years ago but not any more. Israel has from the underdog turned into a most vicious oppressor using the malleable concept of "security" as a smokescreen for heinous human rights violations. This is not lost on the world and we can only change world opinion by changing our behavior. There is a reason why so many decent people from the Arctic to the Antarctic have gone from being Israel's ardent supporters in the period 1945-1995 to being our critics. And no, it ain't anti-Semitism. Much of the world will always hate us and there's nothing we can do about that. But frankly, we are behaving like scum and a lot of the criticism we are receiving--though often one-sided, hyperbolic and misdirected--is valid. When you say "P.R. budget" you really mean "Pull-Wool-Over-Eyes budget." It took me actually making aliyah to see what we really get up to in the territories and in Israel, and it's not pretty.

Chaim ,   Canada   (03.28.07)
If the Arab world, as well as the whole world, sees Israel truthfully, they might start questionening all the lies that their media is brainwashing them with regarding Israel.
20. Most are against
Avraham ,   NYC   (03.28.07)
Most of the world is against Israel and the Jewish people. Nothing new here.
21. What is it about liberal, secular education that makes Jews
Stewart Miller ,   USA   (03.28.07)
guttless. There used to be something called "hope and wisdom" which seems to have been abandoned by most intellectuals.
22. Until Perceptions & Politics Change, Remedy Impossible
Paqid 16 Netzarim ,   Ra'anana, Israel   (03.28.07)
Take the Evangelical Movement. It scares religious Jews to death because they are insecure in their beliefs and cannot even provide their own children with enduring answers that stand up under scrutiny in the international scholarly world. Consequently, every suggestion of treating Evangelicals with the respect Torah requires for every homo sapien created by ha-Sheim, religious Jews respond by spewing hate and venom. Before a working understanding can be built with Evangelicals, Jews must be educated in Torah to the point that they are no longer afraid of hearing the arguments of any other religion, be it Christianity or Islam. We're still a long way from that objective. So, sadly, Evangelicals remain a potential friend unrealized and we can only hope they will study, learn more and remain supportive of Israel. Torah prophesies that they will eventually come to embrace Torah. So, despite the present obstacles, the future is bright. Regarding the politico-media-academic elite, this cannot change and there can be no "rising up" until the political system is changed, replacing party corruption and diktat with regional democratic representation. We won't tolerate being ruled by fanatic settlers, fanatic Ultra-Orthodox rabbis or the fanatic Liberal Left who aspire to become goyim (and should simply realize their goals by moving to a goyim country where they can be sated and happy). On the other hand, an uprising without the proper political structure threatens chaos and anarchy, a deterioration into the state of the Middle Eastern Arab Muslims who are -- as a result of their religion, values and practices -- awash in blood and sewage. The urgency of regional democratic representation as a prerequisite is therein revealed. Until then, Israeli politicians use the unrest and discontent of their citizens in much the same way as Arab politicians: to distract attention from their corruption and incompetence and the damage they do their country. I don't think Mr. Sherman addressed that, much less offered any solution. Paqid Yirmeyahu Israeli Orthodox Jew Advancing Logic as Halakhic Authority Welcoming Jews & non-Jews

Damian ,   USA   (03.28.07)
and what are their accomplishments: terrorism, corruption, persecution, censorship, hatred, backwardness and discrimation. That is the nature of the 22 brutal Arab regimes who are obsessed with the modern, stunnigly beautiful, democratic Jewish sovereignity. The Arab regimes cannot compete with the Jewish state and are mired in envy. Therefore, they want to destroy it by all means possible.

29. actually very little 2 do w/money
oferdesade ,   israel   (03.28.07)
i agree - the budget is small - thnx god; otherwise it would be wasted incompetently. the major problem is that it goes primarily to the foreign office. now, when you have in charge of "hasbara" (both at the helm in the fo headquarters & abroad in the embassies) a kid (albeit hard working, intelligent and well-intentioned) who yesterday was in charge of some diplomatic desk, whose training is either law or foreign relations or some such, and today he/she is a press officer or some such, that person has not the foggiest idea of what to do. press officers who are posted to a country for years at a time have no idea of who the leading journalists are, how to approach them, how to utilize them. offers by evangelical broadcasters for free time are cast asside. the diplo's themselves are so full of themselves, their self-righteousness and importance (the cadets course is more ego inflating than a pilots course) that they put off nearly everyone they meet. the result is so many macherim and charlatans selling ideas that they stand to make alot if money from. there are simply no proffessionals doing the job (take for example the "branding of israel" recently by a public relations firm for the tourism ministry - their report and proposals were a joke - an expensive joke, and implementation is a joke even further and many shekels more off. and so much could be done: israel had a great coup (one) with the bus at the hague, and even that was an idea fed to them under the desk by a well-wisher. unfortunately we ourselves are the ones who through pure shlemmielity provide such brilliant coverage of ourselves (mossad criminals getting caught, big-mouth idiot politicians, blatantly and stupidly corrupt politicians, really well-behaved tourists, company reps abroad who treat the "locals" like "natives", an establishment that's run by its own guards, the list is endless), and you realize that any positive pr we're getting is probably the best we deserve.
30. Take Over the World--Delusional
nina   (03.28.07)
It is amazing that your world view came from watching a television show in Egypt, a country known for having no press freedom and great political oppression. So you watch a TV show approved by the government and think you know who Zionists are and what they stand for? If you are so convinced, then why did you leave Egypt, a country with no Jews, and come to America, a country with millions of them? Is it because, Mr. Palestinian, you know that among the Arabs, among your own people, you have no freedom? What hypocrisy to run away from what you claim to care about to a country you cannot possibly appreciate. Consider leaving. We in the United States deserve better than close-minded people like you, filled with hate.
