While supporting the noble cause of the Israeli organization for fighting the woman trade, one more target should be added: equal rights for divorce. It's a shame that in 21st century a woman is not free to marry the man she loves because of her previous owner (ba'al) objections. Isn't she a slave if she is not given the freedom to live her life the way she wants?

While the sex trade is certainly unfortunate, Israel is hardly the worst offender. If there are 3000 woman involved in a population of 7 million, that is 0,00042%. And if these same 3000 have about a million visits per year, that is just under one visit per day per sex worker. It looks like business is not very good. While there is certainly exploitation & sexual slavery here in Israel, it is no worse and possibly less common than anywhere in Europe or North America. If you really want to see sexual slavery, prostitution, exploitation, etc. I would suggest you examine conditions in most third-world countries in Africa, the Middle-East, Asia, & S. America. I can't help but notice that no real solution is offered in this article. Would the author be in favour of completely legalizing prostitution?

The authorities chose to allow a great deal of prostitution to continue for a very good reason. By not busting the prostitutes they can use them as informants. There are many sick individuals that treat women as objects. Closing them in, shutting them off from families and friends. Sadly many in the community support this or say that some women "like" this. If everyone in the resturant did as they should, either confront him or stare him down, he would be more afraid to do what he was doing. We need to speak up and step in when neccessary. Give me a break - obviouosly you haven't thought about what it would be like to be a slave to one of these animals. You should sit and imagine you life being taken away and you being forced to do anything you didn't want to. What is more dangerous than a kidnapper, someone who physically and mentally abuses another daily, taking away their every right. If I were ruler, they would get the death penalty. Police don't need to allow slavery to get information. Information can be obtained with technology and well-funded police work. It can also be obtained by getting society to take a more active role and allowing them to approcah the police without being treated as unimportant meddlers or criminals themselves. I can tell you that it becomes very expensive for individuals to "help" or to provide information especially if there is no staff or person to listen. My neighbor can tell you when I leave for work and when I come home late - she is a good example or what kind of free information can be collected by the police. Certainly police have enogh sources for information in Israel without needing to ignore slavery and abuse. dear roni, even as we celebrate passover and our people's journey from slavery into freedom, i am bewildered by your report. according to your article, 3,000 sex slaves in Israel render not less than 1 Million sexual services per month. by my simple math, that's an average of 333.33 sexual services, per month, per sex slave in Israel. that's roughly 11 sexual services rendered, per day, per sex slave, 7 days a week, 365 days per year. certainly all of those slaves who are forced into the most awful positions should not be suffering so much. and another thing, i am not against legalized & regulated prostitution for pros who wish to earn their living in that way. i think it serves as a very useful outlet for the clients who need to use those services, and it does indeed pay well for the workers who are good at it and enjoy the work itself (i do know some whores, male and female, and from what they have told me, none of them are forced to do anything 'at work' which goes against their will). now, i do not claim to know all the stats, and i am not a john who frequents these slaves. at the same time, i find it very hard to believe that the AVERAGE sex slave is rendering 333.33 sexual services per month. many of the less-than-attractive or less-than-skilled sex slaves are lucky if they get even a few jobs a day. i suggest that if you have verifiable data to back up such an enormous claim, you publish the relevant data, or else your claim rings hollow and suspect as just another scare tactic to rile up the public into an exaggerated problem, which is hardly what Israel needs. so, while i totally agree that Israel should do everything it can to stop the sex slave trade in Israel (starting with educating ourselves against such practices), i find it totally unhelpful to report such grossly inflated figures. i believe it would better help the campaigns to end sex slavery in Israel, if we had facts, not hype. so here's to ending sex slavery in Israel with the power of truth. chag pessach sameach leh koooooooooooolam! :)

This is a busha (shameful thing) for Israel!!
