34. Look who's making demands!
Gaza is smaller than a pacific island, completely dependent on Israel for electricity, water, sewage treatment and many other services, with little more than infantry, short-range rockets and anti-tank forces on its side. Amazingly, the groups based in Gaza make such great demands, refusing to put anything but a single captured soldier on the bargaining table.
Do they have a strong military ready to crush us? Do they have the rocket capabilities to make the average Israeli scared? Can we not avenge the casualties they have caused us sevenfold?
We can, but we don't. Like a dog bound by chains, we are forced to stop short when we are taunted. This is what has become of the Western world. Dozens of dogs bound by chains.
The tactics used by Palestinian terrorists, and terrorists around the world, rely on this fact. They act as they please, thriving on a culture of death and martyrdom, exploiting the modern world's culture of life and the laws created to preserve it, to reach their goals.
The very people who practice the art of waging war against civilians, by disguising as civilians or using civilian homes for military purposes, are the first to shout out in protest over the loss of the innocent lives behind which they wage their war.
The Palestinians stride into the headlines as victors because they can eat the cake and have it too. They can use their civilians as weapons of war while receiving the world's sympathy for their death and suffering as innocents.
Caving in to their demands wouldn't empower any moderates. The moderates sat around and talked while the extremists waged war and delivered the goods.
Caving in to their demands would make the situation even more absurd. Not only can they receive pity for the civilians they use as military hardware, but they can also retake their captured warriors and generals, be they prisoners of war or convicted murderers.
Instead of caving in, we must show them that they are in no position to use violence and expect results. Everyone has a breaking point, and it includes every last one of the small organizations that capture soldiers, launch rockets and send suicide bombers. Instead of dragging the conflict over decades, it should be ended in a matter of months, or years. by forcing the fanatics to surrender.
