5. Immigrants and their hosts
Salameh ,   Gaza, Palestine   (04.08.07)
They came in fleeing unjust westren system, and before you know it, turned against the locals, and stole their lands and lives!! No wonder their best friends are the cowboys, similar past and similar practices
6. 1933 Pictures
bobsplace ,   Boonies, Texas, USA   (04.08.07)
These are priceless pictures.....The make the maps in my Grandmothers Bible (circa 1900) mean so much more....I will await the next edition in this series. I have created a separate file for the pix..... Thank You Ynet.
7. Dear Fadi and Salameh
Phillip ,   South Africa   (04.08.07)
Yap yap yap!
8. No Israel?
Jay   (04.09.07)
Then who built the power system, the dairies, and started the bus service shown in the photos? History did not begin in 1948 or 1967. Ouch! ...the truth hurts for some. These are great photos. Thanks!
9. Fadi, let's not re-write history
Robert Gardner ,   Vermont, USA   (04.09.07)
Fadi, the land of Israel and the State of Israel are two separate things, go to school, study objective history, and find that out. There were no 'Palestinian' people 3000 years ago friend. Instead, Palestine as a name for the land is an insult to the destroyed nation of Judea (sound like a familiar name?) after the Roman conquest. Also, 2000 years ago the majority were Christian? 1400 years ago some did become Muslim and eventually took over the land of Israel. The rulers have changed: Am Israel is in control of the land AND the State of Israel...we protect the land with our lives and though it is a shame, we've had to take quite a few Arab lives (in vain) to control the land. The only thing the Palestinians are chosen for is for being the pawns of the rich Arab oligarchs...the Jewish Nation has extended its hands more times than should have been necessary. Learn to read or drink the kool-aid.
10. Fadi - the pictures betray your lies....
Merlin ,   Boston,Ma   (04.09.07)
Fadi the pictures betry your lies. There is Hebrew on the local bus. Not Arabic.... When you face up to the truth and recognize Israel and the Jew's claim to the land then you'll also get a state and then there will be peace. Until then you and your people will continue to suffer.
11. Fadi,your writing proves that CalHash stronger than IL hash
Alan ,   SA   (04.09.07)
12. I see my house in one of the pictures in Palestine
Kamal ,   Haifa Palestine   (04.09.07)
the house that you stole from me and my family
13. #9 Robert Gardner
Fred Nerks ,   Israel   (04.09.07)
Very well put. Exactly! (thank you)
14. Fadi, Salameh
Zaphod ,   Pluto   (04.09.07)
Fadi - "The Jews were always to(o) fickle, and they never decided to protect this land with their lives." Well, haboob, time to stop putting weed in your Hookah! (also, read #9) Salameh - "..fleeing unjust westren system" yeah right 'partner', western system = pogroms and deathcamp ovens! You also a stoner?(you should read #9 too)
15. To Merlin
Pedro   (04.09.07)
Yes the pictures show hebrew writen on the bus but this doesn´t mean there was israel, there were jews in Palestine and these jews used the hebrew instead of the arabic.
16. Recent pictures of same places?
EM ,   Canada   (04.09.07)
It would be very interesting to see pictures of the same areas, to document the development of this land. Any volunteer?
17. The Arabs came to the land in search of employment
William ,   USA   (04.09.07)
that was created by Jews. People migrate to find the jobs. Had it not been for the Jewish businesses they would have never come.
18. When was the last time we had the truth from those
Mary ,   USA   (04.09.07)
who want to destroy Israel. They keep creating fantasies and lies. That is one of their weapons/methods against Israel.
19. No Palestininans existed than
David ,   Norway   (04.09.07)
I see many Arabs in the pictures, but i doubt stronlgy that they called themselves Palestinians. These pictures also refute the stupid claim that the State of Israel just emerged after the Shoah!
20. Kamal #12
JB ,   Canada   (04.09.07)
Kamal, You mean the little one with the crescent moon on the door? You can have it back! Or perhaps you mean the one your Mufti told you to leave while they slaughterd all the Jews in your neighbourhood; promising you all their property when when the Jews were dead. The only persons to steal anything from you were the Mufti and his henchmen and his latter day heir Yasser (that's my baby) Arafat. And what they stole was your self-respect
21. Any business needs 1-2 bosses and many employees
Mel ,   USA   (04.09.07)
The Arabs were employed by the Jews in agricultural settlements. Without the Jews they would have wondered around Arabia.
22. # 19 David: "the stupid claim"
Fred Nerks ,   Isreal   (04.09.07)
What do you mean "refute the stupid claim that the State of Israel just emerged after the Shoah"??! Yes, some fools claim so. But educated folk rely on something called historical facts. If these pictures have provided you with 'new' information on the subject, I suggest that you (and all the other readers of this post, unsure of the history of this region, whom rely on all the 'stupid claims' to form an 'educated' opinion) read one of the thousands of publications available in free countries (like Norway), written to deal with the very topic. Maybe a good starting place is James Michener's The Source. Avoid claims. Know facts.
23. #15 Pedro, It means that
Ned Ferks ,   It'sreal   (04.09.07)
the local Arabs who happened to be there, and not in Trans-Jordan (look in a history book!), did not understand economy, infrastructure or any form of transport involving petrol and engines (or something not donkey-shaped). You don't actually think there really were busses with Arabic signage back then??! LOL! ooh hee hee hoo hoot (stop it, please)
24. Trip in 1939
Semsem ,   New York, USA   (04.10.07)
My grandfather and grandmother made a trip to Palestine in August 1939 just to have a look to see if they liked it. Before they were to return to Romania the war started and they stayed forever.
26. Great pictures!!
(04.10.07)
27. Fadi; Your people are from Arabia.
Palestiniansareamyth ,   USA   (04.10.07)
Israel was re-named Palestine by the Romans and has no Arab connection. Jews were the first to be called Palestinians. A Palestinian country, language, culture or people has ever existed. Jews are the indigenous people of Israel. You are the uneducated one.
28. Fadi - My nieghbour in Zikhron Yaakov!
Fred Nerks ,   ISRAEL   (04.10.07)
"Now for one thing I do not think any Israeli living in Israel can give me a history (history) in Israel from as far back as 1889" I'll go back even further, Fadi. Try in 1817, when my JEWISH ISRAELI neighbor’s family started to document Zikhron Yaacov's Arab/Jewish co-existence. The local Arabs valued the industrious local Jews whom employed them and brought prosperity to a land that what was a 'backwater' before that. So many of your points are flawed. But at least in what you wrote, by acknowledging world-wide anti-Semitism, you recognize the need for the Jewish state. That's a start. "If Israel wanted peace it would allow all the Palestinians to come back and live with the Israel's and Jewish Israeli's in peace like before 1900's." FLAWED. Israel would be no more. The Arabs would, either violently or democratically, ensure the Jews would be homeless again. But the Arabs have much land, many countries, and places to be at one, at home. So, why not leave the tiny land of Judea (even heard of it?) to the Jews?
29. ARAB TOURISTS
Flower ,   Sweden   (04.10.07)
LOOK AT THESE GREAT OLD PICTURES FROM 1933! THEY CLEARLY SHOWS THAT A WHOLE BUNCH OF ARABS WERE TRAVELLING AROUND IN JUDEA AS TOURISTS!
30. enough room
israel   (04.10.07)
the photos emphasize that there was easily enough room in palestine for european jewry perhaps in a state linked to syria lebanon and jordan . the rejection of this by islamic extremism and hatefulness has led to the catastrophes the arabs of palestine talk of .
