As far as I know anyone can apply for Israeli citizenship; however, it is only Jews that have the right to automatic citizenship. As far as I know, its no different than Western Countries. Maybe they are all a little different, but having automatic citizenship is not the same as applying for citizenship. You can become a Naturalized citizen in Israel.

To become an Israeli citizen you either need to mary an Israeli woman or convert to judiasim, please note not any conversion in recognized by israel. Other than that you have no chance.

This has always been a lingering question with me. I have been in Israel. I know the IDF and how the country works. From the my first visit in the early 1980's, I could see these members of the Knesset had only the extinction of Israel as a goal. The Bishra affair might be the most high profile event but for years the arab MKs have been openly supporting the palestian cause and attempting to vreate problems for the jewish state. Not long ago we had an arab MK calling the international community to place sanctions on Israel, the new arab cabinet minister that Peretz forced Olmert to accept he has refused shin bet to investigate his background for security reasons saying that the fact he was ellected is good enough. The new document that the arab sector recently came out with calling for Israel to officialy give up its stauts as a jewish state shows how wide the gap is getting. In the short term all public servants must be forced to swear loyalty to the jewish state and if an arab gets ellected to knesset then he must either swear this loyalty then they cannot take their seat. Longer term there needs to be a change in the politcal system itself fewer parties if there are fewer small parties then its very unlikley that there will be enough votes to get arabs into the knesset where they will be in a position of power. Work permits to all palestian labourers should be canceled it keeps them out the country and provides more jobs for Israels unemployed .. if your jewish and unemployed even a low paid bad job is better than nothing. The law stopping palestians who marry Israelis to gain citizenship must be canceled permamently .. there is no law that says your enetitled to citizenship if you marry and Israeli. Non of these things could be considered against any kind of international laws or apartheid they are legal and it will keep the arab influence in the country to a minimum.
