4. ISRAELI CONCERNS NOT BEING ADDRESSED OR LISTENED TO
david ,   usa   (04.11.07)
it's become a war of words, the arab world is working very hard to change and influence many. they are investing in middle east studies programs throughout the nation at top universities reaching the future leaders of tomorrow. they are stealthly and collectively demonizing Israel slowly winning the hearts and minds of the future leaders of America. Israel education in America has been hijacked and is being dragged through the mud. No effort has been made to combat this miseducation and that is one of the reasons why Israel finds itself in the situation its in today. The question being what moves can be made to reverse this trend. First thing is to get a leader, well spoken and eloquent enough to win over the American fence sitters who don't understand, but control the future.
5. Zalman Shoval
Imperator ,   USA   (04.11.07)
Zalman Shoval was, in my opinion, one of Israel's best Ambassadors to the US. We need someone like him (preferably Amb. Shoval himself) as Israel's FM or back in Washington. We are facing increasing anti-Semitism world-wide and to be coerced by Arab "diplomacy" will only worsen the prospect for peace.
6. Hold the presses here....
jan   (04.11.07)
There are many voices that are speaking and being heard right now. Everyone(terrorist, or friends) all have an opinion on what should happen and take place in Israel. But the one voice that should be heralded and shouted the loudest is the voice of Hashem. In Psalm 105:8-11 Hashem declares his Eternal Covenat with the land of Israel and it's people. I don't care how many armies are gathered around her, how many palestinians march and protest, how many diplomats(including my President and his Cabinent) show up and try to broker a peace deal with those with whom the land was not promised too, Hasem will never let this happen!!!! Why do you think that all of these peace deals from the time that Israel became a nation in 1948 have failed? If Hashem has to remove leaders who are hell bent on giving away the land for a false peace deal, than they will be sleeping with their fathers. This is what the muslim world and non-believing leaders and politicians have failed to understand. There is a G-D in the land today and his name is Y UD HAYV VAV HAYV. He has not lost one ounce of power and might, nor is he a G-D to forget his everlasting Covenat with Israel. Let the other voices huff and puff, and try to blow Israel down. It's just not gonna happen.. For sure Hashems words are STRONGER than other words on the earth today. It's time for Israels people to stand tall, hold your head up high, believe in Hashem and his words, and never back down to the loud roar of many lions who have had their teeth removed and cannot hurt you unless you become too afraid of their roar. Shalom my frineds, Shalom!!!!!!!

These are the real issues: Bush was probably the only American Prez ever who gave Olmert free hand this summer in dealing with Hezbollah only to see Olmert and perez botch this opportunity. Then, the schmuck majority of American Jewry voted Pelosi in as the House speaker. Let's be honest and put the blame where it belongs.
9. Stop the Hand Ringing and Start Standing Tall
Edward ,   New York, USA   (04.12.07)
Only Israel can stand up for itself. In 1967, although the US, the UK and France although had made mutual defense guarantees to Israel in 1956 to force it to withdraw from the Sinai, stood by as Egypt, Syria, and Jordan attempted to annihilate the Jewish state. Israel stood up and prevailed. The only thing you can expect is more of the same. What you should have learned from 1967 is that international guarantees cannot replace strategic territory . What Israel needs is stronger leadership. Bring back Natanahu!!! Don't act against your own best interests, stand tall. Israel must and will prevail.

11. two points about the article
sahia ,   jerusalem   (04.12.07)
the first is as israil fear to be out of the world forum or as israil fear of isolation not between the arab world but the international one it make israil to be connected in any problem specialy that of the arab problem .. we do not forget the role of israil in the first gulfe war in 1990 .. the problem is invasion of saddam to alkuwate but israil has its role we do not forget the masks the sadam elastic and the rockets // second point .that israil depends mainly on america .. as if america is the god of israil ,even god may change his decision depends on its justice and mercy .. but america may change its decisions depends on its benifits .not israil benifits nor arab benifits
12. Easy way out...Government resigns.
Reuven ,   Tel Aviv   (04.12.07)
If we can get the leaders of Isreali gov to put Israei people before their careers, we could help patch up this situation. Where are the leaders with guts and conviction who will tell the truth to US and EU and stand up for our right to exist....forever.
13. what you have done, boy ?
Atilla Karagözoğlu ,   Istanbul   (04.12.07)
Father looked him with love and told him "what you have done, boy ! boy left with THE ANGER ! and Father wacthed him....(end)
14. US-IL alliance
peter ,   amsterdam, NL   (04.12.07)
In my opinion the unique and onesided reliance Israël puts on the United States could be it's undoing. The United States has different and wider interests in the Middle East than Israël. Sooner or later the highjacking of US foreign policy on this matter by AIPAC is going to unravel. Then Israël is on it's own while it could've had strong diplomatic relations with Europe, Asia and Arab countries besides Jordan and Egypt. Mr. Zalman Shoval is still caught in the old school of zionist thought which prevents him from seeing the opportunities of today. The Saudi peace plan should be taken seriously as a opportunity to start dialogue and negotiations while keeping a keen eye on the interests of Israël.
15. Zalman Shoval's analysis
Lowell Blackman ,   Ramat Ilan, Israel   (04.12.07)
Of course and, as usual, Ambassador Shoval's vision, insight, and understanding of the predicament in which we find ourselves is correct - and frightening. Without strong leadership at home that clearly articulates our case and draws red lines - even for the Americans - we run the risk of becoming a bargaining chip for all that ails the Middle East and the albatross around the neck of America that Eisenhower's Secretary of State, John Foster Dulles, warned about. Gone is the talk of action against Iran - in fact, gone is any kind of talk that puts the onus on the Arab world and its five decades of intransigence. One point, however, Mr. Shoval's article deserved a better editing job than was done – spelling and grammatical errors abound.
16. So it was wrong to encourage Bush and his gang to

17. Shoval is right about dangerous times
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (04.12.07)
Israel is the best and maybe the only friend that the USA has. Unfortunately there is no reciprocity. The US Administration is "oil hungry" and will do anything to appease the Arab Oil Sheikhs. In American English “democracy in Iraq” means looking after the oil store. Israel must stand on her own two feet and the best thing for us would be to give up on US Aid ($3 billion a year LESS deductions for "wall building", etc). Then and only will we stop reading on Ynetnews how much money the Americans "give" us and how much we owe the Yanks! They should remember the General Norman Schwarzkopf called Israel the biggest and most stablee aircraft carrier in the world. Israel, unlike the other carriers, can't be sunk and doesn't wobble about in bad weather. The question is how long it will take for the Arabs to stab the Americans in the back? Have you guys in Washington forgotten the Arab Oil embargo after the Yom Kippur War? Short memories, Huh?
18. Israel is being betrayed
John ,   London,UK   (04.12.07)
We would have thought that in this climate of terrorism and choas after 9-11 attacks, that US would protect Israel more and provide more money for its security. But reverse seems to have occured. America is giving more money to Islamic countries and less and less to its old ally Israel. It appears that Israelis are being betrayed by its long time friend and ally, the United States. Why has all this gone wrong? Possibly because many people in US, UK and Europe see Israel as one of the main causes of anti-western angry in the muslim world. Terrorism and rise of extremists is indirectly being blamed in Israeli occupation of Gaza and West Bank. If you read major western new papers like Washtington Post, New York Times, Telegraph in Britain and others in Europe, you get the sense that many are beginning to understand why suicide bombers and terrorists do these horrible deeds. They link acts of terror with Israeli policies. There is a great deal of criticism in Editorials and opionion sections of many analysists. This type of press generates bad publicity against Israel. No wonder Iranian President Ahmedinejad can now get away with saying that Israel will soon be wiped off the map. Maybe many in west secretly agree with him. Proganda against Israel is at all time high in the west.
19. Zalmon Shuval's words.
veronica vita ,   firenze/italy   (04.12.07)
Shalom, you are indeed one of the - unfortunately far too few -people who have always been able to say how things really are. I remember with pleasure having been on many occasions at JCPA with you when you both 'delivered speeches' and 'round-table' discussions. Shalom and Thank You.Shabat Shalom & Good Shabbos
20. Old-school diplomat doesn't get it
RedStarYeast ,   USA   (04.15.07)
Shoval's professional alarmism does Israel a disservice. Israel's continued existence is assured and guaranteed. The question is: does it wish to live in calm and harmony, or does it wish to exist as a fearful pariah state? The answer is simple: Israel must abandon its illegal occupation and comply with international law. Is it really so hard to do the right thing?
21. Pathology
Negru Voda ,   Transilvania   (04.15.07)
With the exception of a few diehards, Israelis have long since abandoned the Zionist dream of Great Israel. Today the country is being dragged through year after year of grinding fear, moral depravity and international isolation simply to screw the Palestinians out of a few more dunams of dirt and a few more cubic meters of water. This fixation, this tenacity borders on the psychopathic. Can the same be said of the Palestinians? Perhaps; but it's their dirt and their water, after all.
22. America's "peace" plan
Kathy Rutger ,   Fairfield, America   (04.17.07)
I would like to say how sorry I am for the role my country is playing in this "road map to peace". It is a disgrace to Israel and to our LORD to try to carve up the Land of Israel. Please know that many of the American people are not in agreement with this. G_d Bless Israel and G_D Bless Tiferet Yeshua!
