1. Thank You yNet
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (04.12.07)
It's nice to see that yNet is finally printing a positive article about Jews investing in the Land of Israel. Very good.
2. Bless you, Mr. Stein!
Dani ,   Tel Aviv   (04.12.07)
Doing great things with your money.
3. HIGH HORSE
DAVID ,   JUDEA   (04.12.07)
If our herzelists friends at Ynet would get off their high horse and stop pretending to be such western enlightend humanists. Then they would stop using words like "west bank, settler and illegal outpost" or if they are such political correct wannbees, then include tel aviv and all other places as illegal settlements, because that is how most peolpe see it. And that is not without the help off your herzelist writings and principles. If there were some true connection to the land, based on our own heritage, you guys would stop being so apologatic to the rest of the world. The harder you guys try to appease the world and keep on believing the false notion of pre 67 borders(like there was no shooting and killing before that time) the more hatred will follow us. I know you guys get your paychecks o follow certain guidelines, but as journalists a word you realy do not deserve , you realy do not know your facts well. Maybey it is time to come out from behind your computer desks and out off your high rises and get to know your land and your people, because truly you guys are clueless.
4. Thank u Ynet for NOT DOING RESEARCH
settler from Eli   (04.12.07)
printing non-facts. Givat Harel IS A LEGAL settlement with all the paperwork and "ishurim" provided by the government for starting a new village. Ynet like always didnt do it's homework and just printed whatever they "heard"-but no matter-thanks anyway for bringing a piece of good news to the rest of english speakers who would otherwise think that settling the land of Isr. is no longer happening. PS:i live in Eli-my house is right across from Harel so i get the pleasure of waking up and looking at the dudes building and planting EACH DAY--i wish on all of u to start your day with such a lovely, uplifting sight!!!:):):):):):)

10. Can we trade Gilat Shalit for Guy Meital
YMBMY ,   Modiin, Israel   (04.12.07)
This article would have been excellent for the Al Jazeera times.
11. Dirty gambling money used for dirty settlements
Rustum ,   London, UK   (04.12.07)
A few retrograde talkbackers think that Mr Stein is doing a great thing - well even the the journalist pointed out that the 79-year old "philanthropist" is not leaving his posh home in London to live on the occupied stolen West Bank. It's a sad phenomenon when rich supporters of Israel use their riches gained from gambling business (is it kosher according to halakha?) to uproot yet more indigenous Palestinians and then to pay some poor gullible immigrants, probably from Uzbekistan or Brooklyn, to put their lives on the line for the sake of this pathetic chimera of the right to live on Palestinian land. In the scheme of things, people like Mr Stein are involved in just as much criminal activity as those poor deluded criminal morons who are occupying the villa in Hebron.

Carlos Murphy ,   Red Hill   (04.12.07)
Rustum, you come from a country that colonised most of this planet, and Fu..ed it up good and proper. So spare us your condescending BS. Hopefully you lost a lot of money in one of his betting shops.Go and preach to your sailors and marines that surrended so shamefully. BTW what were they doing in Iranian waters.Or are those waters part of Britain.
15. Thank you, our hero
Itzik ,   Haifa   (04.12.07)
While EU and S. Arabia giving money to the Left, this Man helping Jews as other great Jews did before him.
16. Olmert,Peretz,Peres,you are ILLEGAL
Marcel ,   Florida   (04.12.07)
By whose word authority is this Jewish land and Home deemed illegal ? Instead of arresting the head of Islamic brotherhood,Saleh, and ending the threat from Gaza you continue to go after fellow Jews ,you worthless and vile criminals.
17. #8 - very strange post! Are you well ?

18. #11 - please read #4 and check before you post .. thanks !
redmike ,   tel aviv   (04.12.07)
oh - is that egg on your face :-)
19. Stein and flawed arithmetic
Baruch Nili ,   Jerusalem,Israel   (04.12.07)
Firstly Ladbrokes was an hotel chain that Stein took over. Secondly if I recall correctly Syein was involved in the Mamilla project in Jerusalem where he probably has a "posh" pied a terre on a slice of real estate that is one of the most expensive in the world. He wouldn't give that one up in a hurry. Stein's munificence is legendary in Hebron to whose Jews he has been doling (sic) out his money for at least a decade. But the peculiarity of this Givat Harel story is what it really says: the wealthy Mr Stein built a house in an illegal outpost. He didn't donate the house because the family that will inhabit are having to buy it, presumably from Mr Stein. Then as you say becuase its in an illegal outpost it will be probably be knocked down anyway. Its all rather odd. The arithmetic doesn't add up. Stein paid to build a house that someone else will pay to move into. Stein won't be living in it. He built the house on land that isn't legal to build on and the house will be knocked down. So? Its not really a house warming he attended, so much as an expensive statement of misguided philosophy. Bizarre.
20. Rustum - ignorance and libels
Rob ,   UK   (04.12.07)
Accusing Mr Stein of being involved in "criminal activity" is probably libellous under UK law. So you should probably engage your brain before typing. Secondly, there is no such place as the "occupied stolen west bank," it is Judea/Samaria as it has been for the past few thousand years. Even the U.N. referred to it as such in 1947. Your historical narrative is one of the biggest frauds in modern history.
21. #11
Yael ,   Jerusalem   (04.12.07)
The statement calling people in Hevron that have followed the law of the country "poor deluded criminal morons" makes me wonder what has twisted your thought process to slander honest people. The words you used show you to be a reflection of those words. The FACT is that this is Jewish LAND and the building was purchased with Jewish money. The business man that actually sold it has been arrested for breaking the law of our "friends" the Jordanians by selling Land to Jews. There are "poor deluded criminal morons" all over the world. London for sure has at least one.
22. These lands belong to Jews!
Keren ,   SP-now in Israel   (04.12.07)
They belong to Jews historically and legally. These Jews and their families, who are living there, fought wars they didn't start and WON!The land belong to them! The land belong to them because historically we Jews lived ,and have been living ,there for thousands of years! Belong to them because it was determined to be so by the League of Nations, and were stolen from us by desonest "leaders" of gentiles nations. Luckely very rich man belong to our People, and as we are ONE people, they keep on helping, with the purpose for all of us to reach our true Destiny. When the first Jewish pionners came to the land of Israel,it was a desert, with few souls living in. It was -and IT IS- the Jews who provided jobs and progress for these people. In 1948,the arab iliteracy was 100%;now ,due to Jewish People,it is 0%. Arabs thrive in this area due to Jews;they have excellent schools, jobs, businesses; they join our universities... They came to these area due to opportunities Jews gave and -WRONGLY-keep giving to them. For those interested, just take a little look on what it was,for example Haifa, and what it is today ,after Jews came! Maybe, soon,Mr.Stein will come to live with them ! http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3385759,00.html
23. PS Passport Control?
Baruch Nili ,   Jerusalem,Israel   (04.12.07)
How did Mr Stein actually enter the West Bank to reach this illegal outpost? I understood that these days you can't get in on whatever passport. You have to be an Israeli with special settler permission. As Mr Stein isn't a resident of Givat Harel and isn't likely to live there how did he enter the occupied West Bank?
24. # 11 Rustum
Josef Matamoros ,   Finland   (04.12.07)
So, why do you reside in Britain, you should live in an Arab state. To your knowledge: Yehuda, Shomron and Azza are Jewish areas - since 3000+ years, though Arabs now are occupying those areas. Nevertheless, a part of Israel always remains a part of Israel.
25. mr stein
chaim ,   pt israel   (04.12.07)
i remember when i lived in england losing the shirt off my back to you regularly. i cursed you then, but had i known where my monies were going to eventually, i would gladly have lost more bets on the horses to you thanks and this time i hope you have backed a winner
26. Demented Investment in ILLEGAL outposts....
Andy ,   ramat hasharon   (04.12.07)
Government approved projects is one thing, but this is disgusting.
27. #4- Many thanks to you. Kol Hakavod!
LEE ,   NY, USA   (04.12.07)
28. It is Israel's land!
Brod ,   USA   (04.12.07)
It is Israel's land. Don't call it 'illegal' and 'settlers' as if Israelis are foreigners in their own country-- Israel.
29. #22 and fairy tales
Rustum ,   London, UK   (04.12.07)
Poor, sad, pathetic bit of reading from a poster with zilch historical knowledge and a whole lot of self-centred egomanaical ethnic supremacy. Give us all a break - not a single Israeli Arab (well perhaps some who are being blackmailed by Mossad) would agree with your somewhat skewed historical perspective. Even those who, for the sake of academic argument, have an improved rate of illiteracy, would consider that as nought compared to the sixty years of oppression and racial hatred, not to mention dispossession, expulsions and segregation to which the Israeli Arab sector has been subjected - and we are not even talking here of those now living outside their legal and ancestral homes in neighbouring countries. Talk about seeing things through pink-coloured (or perhaps blue-and white coloured) glasses. the whole post made me guffaw at the level of ignorance and wishful thinking.
30. #20 and criminal activity
Rustum ,   London, UK   (04.12.07)
The criminal activity I was referring to - as those who can read would have understood - is the criminal and racist activity being carried out by the settlers on the stolen West Bank. I was not referring to Mr Stein's business in the UK, which obviously is completely above board and untainted by any illegal activity. The point you seem to be unable to understand is this: that Palestinian land and assets is being bought up for quasi-religious quasi-mystical settlers by monies which are the proceeds of a gambling empire. I wondered how this fit into the halacha. Thus I will repeat that I believe Mr Stein's purchase of land/assets in the west bank are a form of criminal activity as this action is prejudicial to the natural rights of the indigenous inhabitants. Furthermore, it is obviously a political act, since the over-rich fascist has obviously no intention of living there. Let's see how you feel about billionaire Lebanese buying up property in Petah-Tikvah in order to change the demographic make-up of the place with no intention of living there. I'm sure you'll have some rabid anti-Islamic phobic take on that.
