Gee, What an original idea. Survivors should be taken care of and live in dignity. Now why hasn't anyone thought of that before. Perhaps our Govt, will find a way to make the lives of the last several survivors less horrific. After all there aren't all that many left.

It happened ONLY 64 years ago. What if it were your grandparents who had to choose between medicine and food??? We owe it to these people to take care of them!! I want to cry because of your immature comments! They should be getting free medicine and health care for the rest of their lives! They should be able to finish their lives with dignity!!

We got the very same speech last year the day before yom hashoar. Then the day after it was business as usual, and still nothing changed. It makes me sick. These people don't need lip service from our PM once a year, they need HELP! They need money for new teeth and they need proper medical treatment so that the last few years of their lives can be spent with dignity. What is going to happen to all the extra tax the greedy government is making us company car owners pay? I bet these survivors won't see one shekel of it. It's abhorrent the way our government behaves. They make me sick.

I wouldn't suggest outright fraud but fact is that the payments from Germany were exchanged into Israeli currency and taxed so little was left to the victims.

"Law of Return" elderly are better taken care of. While they came here only for the financial benefits, Holocaust survivors were a huge part of Israel's very construction. This irony is a more sinister sign of impending destruction than any Arab intrusion.

Between Israel and the US, the Holocaust claims commissions are sitting on billions of dollars they refuse to disburse to destitute survivors. How can we honestly consider ourselves to be decent Jews when we sit back idly while these people relive the deprivation they suffered 60+ years ago?
