Emerits and Olmert is obliged is it ?
2. A peace plan will only work...
Jellybean ,   Chicago   (04.18.07)
if the Arabs admit their defeat in the 1967 war, if not it will never work. Israel should not give up the Golan Heights, it is Syria's lost and Israel's gain.
3. Arab peace plan should be realistic for
jOSEPH ,   CANADA   (04.18.07)
Israel to accept the plan. one major condition: no refugees right to return...
4. good cop, bad cop
dovie ,   ny, us   (04.18.07)
Egypt and Jordan are doing the bidding of wahhabi and shiite extremitst to desmantle the jewish state, but even worse to repeat another churban r''l. Since egypt and jordan see israeli existence as destabilizing to their weak regimes in sea of fanatic islamism they would do away with Israel but putting on sheeps clothing. Olmert better go to damascus and kneel in front of assad and with tears in his eyes beg assad not to attack israel. Olmert and Peretz are pathetic weaklings. Shame on you, gentlemen.
5. No way!
Avraham ,   Netivot   (04.18.07)
Accepting the Saudi plan will mean the end of Israel.
6. Arab peace plan
chaim ,   miami beach usa   (04.18.07)
The notion that land for peace can ever be a criteria to entertain is only after the combined Arab nations that will sign a peace treaty and have normal relations with Israel is, instead of pressing the USA EU UN the 4 partners of the road map, Egypt and Jordan to sway Israel by any means possible to accept their proposal, first the Arab nations must impress upon all member states to disarm and dissolve all terrorist organizations, if that happens Israel will be more receptive to as the saying goes Give Peace a Chance. One main benefit that would be realized by both Israel and the Arab States is there will no acts of violence to derail any negotiations. Absent that Israel has never refused to sit down with any responsible Arab Government to try and achieve a peace agreement. It did so with Egypt and Jordan both countries have a common border and since its establishment there was never any military exchanges between these countries. So if the collective Arab Nations are serious about achieving peace in their region it first must deal with the multitude of terrorist organizations, disarm and dissolve them, not the other way around, no Israeli government can or will survive if it even tries to accept blindly a historically tried and failed a formula named Oslo for peace. All that produced was a resurgence of the Intifada with dire results to all involved.
7. No to Arab Usurpation plan
Brod ,   USA   (04.18.07)
The Arab Usurpation plan is a one-way street to Hell for Israel. Israel should reject it outright.
8. Urge Palestinians to stop suicide bombings
JPS ,   Efrat   (04.18.07)
Why don't the Arabs try to contact the Palestinian government to persuade them to stop suicide bomibngs and kassam rocket attacks. If they managed to do that, then Israelis would tear down the separation security wall and the Palestinians could claim to have conquered "apartheid" with peace. yea yea....sure sure...
9. I have an idea!!
Jim   (04.18.07)
Bring these peace seeking arabs to locations that are still under rocket fire daily... see what they say then.
10. What plan ? Dead plan, no plan
Ely Greenhut ,   Tzfat Israel   (04.18.07)
11. Saudi peace plan = destruction of Israel FOREVER.
Jew from Israel ,   Jerusalem Israel   (04.18.07)
REJECT IT.
12. Saudi Plan Is Israel's Last Chance
Fred Farkelsteinman ,   NY, NY USA   (04.18.07)
Israel has an opportunity to make peace with its neighbors, but if it refuses to accept peace again, it will be proving to the world that perhaps it has no right to exist, but that it is itself the root of the problem.
13. To Fred
Jellybean ,   Chicago   (04.18.07)
How is that so..in order to negotiate both parties must be willing to give a little and take a little. Please explan how the arabs are negotiating? they are not they are saying you must accept as is? If that was you, would you accept as is?? NO it has to be mutual.
14. To "Fred"
Ivri   (04.18.07)
After reading your recent posts on a few articles ,a few facts are clear. You are actually intrested in the destruction of Israel. Your name is not Fred Farkelsteinman.( ABDUL maybe?)
15. #9 I agree with you. #12 You are wrong.
Jew from Israel ,   Jerusalem Israel   (04.18.07)
You sit there in your comfortable chair shoving Israel down to disaster. You should come & live under daily missle attacks & su aside bomers who will never want peace only Israel's distruction. Arabs only seek Israel's distruction. Wake up to reality.
16. Wait in the queue!
Cy ,   Reading, Berks, UK   (04.18.07)
Not before about three quarters of the population of Iran have a go first!
17. VOTE OLMERT TO BE PRESIDENT OF THE ARAB LEGUE
zionist forever   (04.19.07)
Nobody in Israel wants him. If Olmert accepts the arab plan he will not only be a fool but he be a traitor. The demands of this plan which Olmert has fallen so in love with made Arafat look like a hardline zionist with his demands. Arafat at least accepted the reality he wasnt going to get everything and he was trying to get as much as possible and peace with Arafat didnt mean giving up the Golan or releasing thousands of terrorists many who had personly murdered Israelis. Israel doesnt need a peace treaty with the Gulf sates even Syria isnt a problem because its not a millitary power and even a formal treaty with Assad will mean PIECE of territory not PEACE. Egypt and Jordan there is no need to worry about making treaties with and if there is international support towards the pro west in Lebanon for the right price they would be willing to make peace with Israel now Syria has been driven out. Also if Israel gives up the territory it captured in 1967 and the arab states have normal relations with Israel does anybody belive that hamas and the other more radical groups are going to recognise Israel and work towards peace making .. their job is to liberate the rest of Palestine for the muslims their war doesnt end till that task has been completed. Hizbollah is mainly armed and financed by Assads best friends in Iran this plan doesnt apply to Iran so the war with them wont end and if they want hizbollah to carry on business as usual they will and allthough he wont make it look to obvious for his image in the west Assad isnt going to betray his best friend that pays many of his bills and his hizbollah arab brothers fighting the zionist entity he would be seen as an ally of the zionsts and killed or overthrown if he did. If Olmert believes the arab plan will bring that mythical peace then Peretz isnt the only one who hasnt taken the lens caps off his bioculars.
18. Do people really ask for peace?
Abolsoud ,   Tx USA   (04.19.07)
What I can see here is a circle of hate with no start and no end. Israel hates Arabs and Arabs hate Israel. You can’t say stop suicide bombs and we will give you the land and you can’t say give us the land and we will stop suicide bombs. People in this area must put thierselves in the other party place. Israel claimed after 67 war that it occupies this land to protect itself, so if there is peace you should return this land. What will kill the state of Israel is not returning the occupied land; it is the hate that is surrounding it from all its border. All the people in this area dream of peace and no body is courage enough to start for it. When Arabs ask for Israel answer for their peace plan, they only ask for accepting the idea and that’s it. It is not a treaty, it is just an idea and they have to discuss it together after Israel accepting it. For the problem of refugees, Israel have to know that this is a great problem and it should deal with it not even refuse to discuss it. Arabs ask for a solution for the refugee’s problem. The word solution can carry a lot of things that will be acceptable to Arabs and Israel as well, although I am sure that if refugees allowed returning back to Israel, no body will go back. Most of these refugees are in Europe and USA and will never think of going back to the Middle East. Arab accepted Israel as a reality among them, Israel should accept to pay something for that peace.
19. Jellybean - The Arabs Made An Offer, Israel Has Not
Fred Farkelsteinman ,   NY, NY USA   (04.19.07)
You can whine about the Arab offer all you want, but unless Israel makes an offer of their own, that is all we have now isn't it? Regardless, under UNSCR 242, Israel was to withdraw from lands it occupied in 1967 in exchange for peace, and that is the offer that is on the table now. You say it has to be mutual, but for years Israel has been building illegal settlements by taking a little land here and a little land there in order to try to create facts on the ground, so while this plan simply does not reward Israel for trying to create facts on its own. If Israel is not willing to honor the right of return of the millions of refugees it made homeless, then giving them the vacated settlements in the West Bank as compensation for the villages of theirs that Israel destroyed is a fair exchange, especially when it also means peace.
20. #15 Jew from Israel - Why do you fear peace?
Fred Farkelsteinman ,   NY, NY USA   (04.19.07)
Actually it is Jews like you who have lead Israel to disaster and earned Israel the pariah status it enjoys today. The solution will not be found among people like you who are driven by hate and can only makes excuses for doing nothing, the solution will be found by those who are willing to extend to Israel's neighbors a hand of friendship, and thus find peace and the security that both sides seek.
21. Saudi Peace Plan
Carol ,   USA   (04.19.07)
This is not a peace plan. The Saudis are NOT negotiating .They are demanding Israel accept its own destruction. It is the Arabs that are afraid of Israel's existence. The Arabs have been pulling this same ploy with these same tactics at least since 1939. In fact, the Arabs have been manipulating the world along these lines at the design of the British. That was what the White Paper of 1939 was all about. Israel is a threat, because it is a democracy, a modern industrialized entity that is creating the future- the state of the art in many areas of life. It works to improve the Human Condition- not to destroy it. Israel understands competition, international standards of accounting and banking. - and Justice. It isn't forcing Western banks to change to another of banking laws, such as Sharia practices. Israel is a sovereign nation that has brought modernity to the Middle East, modern medicine, democratic thinking, independent self-determination, innovation, and a modern quality of life with guaranteed freedoms. Israel brought modern agriculture to the Middle East. Israel has brought Western Civilization into the area.It has been a threat to the dictators who cannot abide freedom. Israel should demand the Arabs accept international law, meaning it's existence and its right to live.It has as much right to exist as each one of their countries. Israel should insist these Arabs cease their barbaric behaviour and terror to prove they are even somewhat civilized before it would entertain any discussion with them. Israel must set the record straight, and demand the former agreements are maintained and complied with, or Israel should reclaim what it has given away in living up to these agreements. Do France, England, Germany, and the US, want the Arabs to concoct a plan they MUST follow, or be attacked? Do they want the Arabs to demand the Western countries' accept their plans to give up territories, ownership of banks and ports, or essential industries in their own countries, or have the oil supply slowed, or cut, and/ or the Western investments in the various emerging Arab countries nationalized , including all holdings, corporations, banks, satellites, missile technologies, etc.? If Israel is forced to give up its sovereignty, every other country extant under International Law will be in jeopardy. It will signal the end of the world as we have come to know it. Fred, why are you afraid oto admit Israel exists? How are we to take these countries seriously when they don't accept International Laws and realities of existence? In doing so, they place their own countries in question.
22. #20 JUST THE OPPOSITE #15 is correct.
Ely Greenhut ,   Tzfat Israel   (04.19.07)
Hamas in Lebanon is rearming from Iran & Syria. I lived here when ketushas were raining down on us. You have the nurve to say thae Arabs want peace. You talk worse than a Hamas terrorist. You should be ashamed of your self. Your talkbach sounds like you are from HAMAS. Change your name to MAHAMAD Wake up THE ARABS AIM ONLY TO WIPE ISRAEL OFF THE MAP BIT BY BIT
23. #21 Carol - Your village called
Fred Farkelsteinman ,   NY, NY USA   (04.20.07)
Israel was created in the middle of the Arab world, and whether you like it or not it must learn to live in peace with its neighbors. Pointing fingers and laying blame is all you folks seem to know, but it is time for the World to ignore the village idiots and work to make peace instead of the constant state of war that Israel has existed under since its inception. The Arabs have made a fair offer based upon UN resolutions and international law already on the books, and are willing to make peace with Israel, but you people don't want to give back the Palestinian territory you've plundered, so at least admit that you're just greedy and stop trying to claim some moral high ground that you certainly do not have. The West Bank is land held under belligerent occupation by Israel and is NOT part of Israel, so Israel is not giving it up; it is simply abiding by international laws and ending its 40-year-old occupation. And to answer your final question, there is no question Israel exists, but I only recognize same pre-1967 border that is recognized internationally, and I do not recognize Israel's right to any land beyond the pre-1967 border. I also believe that Israel will survive and actually do far better once it is no longer an occupying power and in a constant war posture as it is today.
24. #23...Fred Finklefarter...really?
DR ,   Florida, USA   (04.20.07)
Are you that naive and ignorant as to think that the Arabs actually want a true peace? Get real man!!! Palestinians still teach their kids to hate Jews, Hezballah is still arming itself to the teeth(with the help of Iran and syria), and iran is still spreading messeges of hate and violence agiast Isral and the US on a daily basis. We are talking about a huge number of people (mostly Muslims and Arabs) who want nothing to do with peace. They would sooner push a little red button to make Israel disappear than compromise. Your ass-backwardsn analysis and finger pointing make you look very ignorant. Very nice of you to claim the high moral ground, but you are fooling no one.
