6. Liviu Librescu
M. Hartley ,   Atlanta, US   (04.20.07)
Of whatever small comfort this may be to his family and friends, there should be pride and consolation in the fact that, in view of this man's heroism, anti-Semitism - at least at this university and in this town - should not show its ugly face for many, many years.

10. When th professor was killed, a light went out in the world
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (04.20.07)
The professor survived the Holocaust and spent his life helping people and gave up his life to save the lives of others. Liviu Librescu was a wonderful hero. It is what Judaism teaches. It is what Jews believe. We have lost so very much through the murder of extremely precious six million Jews. Six million lights in the world went out. We will NEVER forget. Never Again.

14. What a great loss for us all
RenĂ©e ,   usa   (04.20.07)
At an age when many people are enjoying retirement, thinking of themselves and what they want to do with the time they have left, this precious man, even at his age, was busy HELPING OTHERS, sharing, and caring for others, even at the point of his death! This man selflessness brings tears to my eyes. What a jewel he was! May G-d bless his family in their time of grief.
15. To a true Hero of Israel and the US

21. A terrifying sign
Josh   (04.20.07)
The shooter thought of himself as Jesus. Those spared the holacaust should not die at the hands of such. They should not die on any day like this but certainly not on a day the Isreal is taking moments of silence remembering those taken. Jesus is a punisher of fallen Jews that goes by the name of the horse Hasus. He said he came to collect on a Torah debt and to bring war. This possesed individual made a drawing of a cross with two evil eyes (milagro eyes which are christian magic against the evil eye) and rambled about rich and gold necklaces - this matches the curses of Devareem and forbidden magic objects. He also wrote the lyrics of a group "Collective Soul" on his wall. Fear grips me when I see these signs. The best and brightest of Israel should not be taken in this way. A man trying to be a rescuer. Israelis should not die by someone who signs his packages Ismael and thinks he is Jesus making people pay. We know the decendants of Ismael. We know their cries sound like those of Germany. Return to Israel, Torah and G-d. Get rid of magic.
22. In America
usa observer   (04.21.07)
In America, we are hailing the professor as a hero. May God comfort his family and all who knew and cared about him.
23. # 17 and all who supported his tb
Isragirl   (04.21.07)
What an idiotic post. every man's most basic response is to protect self from harm, at any age. The police officers who stood outside and didn't dare to storm that building were no spring chickens either. he was a hero for he held his duty as a teacher and a mentor to his students, basically strangers, above his own good. Will you be able to do the same when you are over 60?

there's nothing in the news about the egyptian professor. one of the victims of this tragedy, waleed shaalan, was an egyptian engineering student who had a wife and family but i can't find anything about an egyptian professor. perhaps you can clarify. all of the victims must be remembered and those who helped save the lives of students by sacrificing their own life, their bravery should be remembered as well.

you are way out of line with your idiotic and disresprectful talkback.
28. #17-It is not a question of what we expect
R.Alkalai ,   USA   (04.21.07)
It is a question of what Hashem expects of us all. Try to look beyond your own hardened heart and see the meaning. It is not a matter of, as you so coldly put it, " his own time was over." First, unless he was psychic, he probably did not know his "time". Therefore, he made a deliberate and conscious choice to put himself in harm's way, shielding others. He put his own mortality at risk, to assure that others would live. The selfless act of protecting life, rather than the celebration of taking it, is respecting what Hashem created. Only Hashem gives life- therefore, it is sacred. This man survived the Nazi death camps. He, like all others who survived the Shoah, came to know the pain of losing loved in horrific deaths. He came to understand just how sacred and precious every moment is, and made the decision to give whatever precious moments he had to save the lives of others. This was a good man who respected the sacredness of what Hashem created- LIFE.
29. How many would just jump out the window?
Josh   (04.21.07)
Worldwide you will find few who would not run for the window. I would say the proffesor did not plan on getting shot through the door, but he knew there was a risk. Most would not take this risk and many would push the students aside and jump out the windows themselves or try to get the students to hold the door instead. As you noticed no students rushed over to help hold the door. At least not in this classrooom. There was another student who did this in another classroom but he used a desk and was out of the line of fire where bullets passed through the door. The proffessor is an outstanding example of a good heart. We are all going that way one day. Maybe it was his time to die, however he went out fighting and doing something heroic. He denied Cho more victims. although the number reach an erie 33. Regardless, he should be respected and so to others who are heros in their lifetime.
30. No. 17

Actually, he was in his 70's, you shithead, but I wonder if you would have made that same comment if Prof. Librescu had been a Muslim.
