This mentalility of seeing lots of money and getting uncontroled to put the hands in it must stop! These people already gain lots of money as payment for their positions. They should be happy and start being driven by the mind of love for their people, the mind of doing a better society. It is good that the system it is being cleaned, and this kind of behavior must stop in the top of the power.

Roscio ,   Rome, Italy   (04.22.07)
One by one, the corrupt disgraces of this government are going down. The worst three - Olmert, Peretz and Livni (not corrupt, just incompetent and incoherent) - remain. Let us pray that their political ship sinks before they sink Israel with their selfish clinging to power. Israel, it is up to you to clean house by protesting until they are out - they will never leave office voluntarily. They don't care how much damage they wreak on you, as long as they get to continue to play politics with your lives and future.

14. Katsav and Hirshon suspended themselves
Steve ,   USA   (04.22.07)
B"H Officially they suspended themselves. There is no way an investigation can proceed and they able to complete their duties without the indictment being resolved. Now in Katsav's case there is still no indictment, but the press releases were enough to make it impossible for him to complete his duties. In Hirshson's case, I udnerstood it was a little different. There was the problem of the chicken being supervised by the fox, and this legal entanblement prevented him from serving while being investigated. I think that the procedure needs to be cleaned up for investigating government officials. It ties in with last week's torah portion on determining if a skin defect was impure or pure which is the situation a lot of government officials find themselves in, a state of impurity of not being purely guilty or purely innocent. I think additional legislation is required to clean up the whole process so that the attourney general does not have veto power for one year over officials outside the goverment (like the president, for instance). Inside the government, also, it make sense for the attourney general to have veto power disabling any official accused of crime, since he is subservient to the PM. But there is also a need for the Kenesset by a certain majority to put an official in that diabled status (in quarentine) until the allegations are totally resolved. The present system is creating a chaos where the government has power over the President when the President is elected by the Kenesset, not deliniating a separation of powers. That is part of what the electorate chose though when they put Kadima in power, along with Labor in the coalition. And now the electorate is going to have to stew with the results until the next election. I am so surprised, however, that the so-called right-wing parties are not publishing and petitioning with solutions on how to clean this whole thing up. How can the right-wing expect to get elected when it does not actively get invovled in situations like this to let the public know the correct course of action? The right-wing has got to start to care as much about Tel Aviv as it does out the outside areas and this is going to make it more electable. Likud on the other hand has initiated a move I understand to disband the government. And Syria may try to make war at the nearest opporutity. Say if the "peace house" is trampled on, Syria could see it as an opportunity to make war on the Jews because wars unite the Jewish people. Why provide Israel's enemies the opportunity of instability? I suppose Olmert is handling this about as well as can be expected under these circumstances. He should negotiate Bibi back in.
